BRadley gets whooped by Hatton and Holt vs. Bradley is a toss up for me. He is a top 5 fighter at 140 but until Pac and Hatton retire he won't be top dawg.
Ricky has dominated his weightclass for 4 years now and was beating good fighters for a few years before that. He is a top ten P4P fighter. Caballero on the other hand I am surprised by. He has fought in one weight class and although he is good I want to see him up his competition.
Apart from the klitschko brothers, are there actually any known gays in boxing today?
why do you ask? Are you trying to track down a gay, single boxer so you can pursue a relationship with him? Can't help you. Hit the showers at a boxing gym.
as far as their resume goes, Hatton would be about 5th. As far as the difficulty he caused Mayweather I'd say about 3. Castillo gave Mayweather hell and Oscar had him on a split so I put Ricky 3rd. I don't care how it ended, Ricky made FLoyd look absolutely awkward through 6 rounds. Floyd didn't look like a scientific boxer by any means.
What about the Collazo fight? I thought Hatton won by 1 point. But, wat out on his feet. By a light puncher in Collazo. No that fight proved Hatton did not belong at 147.
I think that was more a case of Ricky getting very reckless. Truth be told, I don't think people give Collazo enough credit. He is a very good fighter.
I agree with the guys that have stated Ricky wasn't the same after fighting Floyd. I also have beliefs that his father was a crap trainer and was looking towards a future with his son, but that's beside the point. The Ricky Hatton that was a dominant force at 140 left us after the sixth round of the Mayweather fight. He was still there at the start when he knocked Floyd off balance. He was still there after he showed the cut didn't bother him. He was still there when he mooned Floyd and Cortez. After he started getting rocked in the 6th and 7th, that was the end.
CONTROVEDRTIUAL? cant say i recognize that word.....
Note:
if you put EMFASIS on a misspelled word, your probably an idiot.
Note to you, when knocking someone on spelling and grammar you should be careful of your own. You're not your. It's a conjunction for the words you and are.
Ok, I scored the fight dead even. The difference with what I saw and the reason I can udnerstand why some folks are pissed is the rounds I gave Froch were pretty tight. THe rounds I gave Dirrell were not even close. Round by round it was an even fight for me. The whole fight was dirrell's because he pasted Froch at times. Unfortunately, he doesn't want to put enough work in to take away any doubt.
If anything, I think the title bouts have MORE meaning in the tournament. This is the first time in years we will be treated to a series of title bouts with totally worthy contenders.
I think it's a kick that Yuri Foreman is studying to be a Rabbi. Just adds to his story.
BTW, have any of ya'll heard that Chris Rock bit at the end of the "Bigger and Blacker" album where it's a boxing match and the guy thanks God and then the other cat starts talking and talks about God coming in there and smacking him around? That was some funny stuff.
I agree whether it happens or not. Foreman is as legit as any champion at 154, he is unbeaten and a slick boxer. PPl just look at his ko to win % and think this guy is nothing but you don't have to win all or even any of your fights by ko. Foreman is grossly underrated on this forum.
Totally agree. Yuri is fast as hell do. Hand speed and feet.
For boxing fans a lot of you are totally ignorant on the business and how you build for the future.
1-Pavlik/Williams will happen. After that the winner will probably fight Sergio Martinez.
2-HBO invested in Bute because they saw the talent and realized that Kelly is looking to move up and the majority of the talent in that weight class is locked in to the Super Six. By investing in Bute and promoting his next few fights they build him up and make the promotion of Pavlik/Bute a whole lot easier.
3-Don't believe Kelly? Look into staph infections and reactions to antibiotics. His story is totally believable.
4-Pavlik Taylor was at 164 If I recall.
I think Pac can beat a good handful of guys at 154 but someone like Martinez would just rock him. The guy probably walks around at about 170 or so. He isn't a little dude.
Oh God. Look up how many people had Hatton winning that fight through 6 or 7 rounds. Lederman and Ronnie Shields come to mind. It wasn't a total mismatch and Ricky wasn't going out any earlier than the tenth. Ricky became so reckless because of Cortez's reffing that he got stupid. With another ref, Ricky still loses but it goes to the cards.
to me he seemed like a fat guy that can punch very well. After the fight when he had the interview, he sounded like a fat guy with a learning disability. Paul WIlliams is dumb as hell too so I dunno what I'm geting at.
I think i've seen Chavez Jr fight once. It was on shobox I believe. I
m not shelling out so much as ten dollars to get those Latin FUry PPV's. YOu don't pay money to watch C class fighters. They fight on the undercard on Versus.
Hatton has shown improvement with Mayweather and it's where it counts. His defense improved, his jab work improved and also his stamina improved. If those 3 things get better then you become a better fighter. You gotta give Ricky and Big Floyd some respect, theya re working towards making Ricky a better fighter and giving him a few more fights than he would have had if he stuck with Billy. If Hatton stayed with Billy (god bless him) RIcky would have retired middle of '09 but at this point I can see him with at least a half dozen more fights to his credit.
I want to see Hatton/Pacquiao so bad. ALot of people thought Floyd couldn't change Ricky and still believe it this day, but I saw some things Ricky was doing differently. They are very subtle changes (head movement, different jab work) but they are there. So, I guess if thios fight comes off, Floyd Sr is proven to be either the real deal or a poser. I think if he gets Ricky a W against Manny, he's the man.
I am a huge Calzaghe fan and I have him at number 2. You can't compare anyone to pacquiao right now. He is too talented and has accomplised so much. It's not even an argument.
BTW, pac didn't meat Marquez twice. He had a win and a draw.:smashfrea
I honestly think that Floyd believes Marquez is small enough that he can jsut bully him around. I truly believe that is his strategy. We may actually see an aggressive money may on Saturday.
I believe with a trainer showing up late you never get in the right frame of mind. I think you just get pissed off thinking about the cash you are spending on what is supposed to be top notch training and the guy isn't even punctual. Want to know why Lee worked with Ricky? It's because Floyd wasn't there to start on time. Ricky is a beast in the gym and gives all during his camps. For his trainer to not offer the same courtesy is BS.
The fact of what happened in reality is that Roy couldn't pull the trigger against Calzaghe because when he did he got starched in return. Roy's reflexes aren't what they used to be. That being said, Joe's reflexes are not what they used to be. Want to imagine a fantastic fight? Imagine Roy vs. Joe circa 2000-2002. That would have been tremendous. So does anyone have a time machine or some other contraption? No! Well damn, guess you will just have to realize that we got their fight this year and Joe humilated Roy.
haha. This thread has gotten retarded. The fact is, you people are just looking too hard for crap on Ricky when you say he robbed Collazo or snuck past Urango (kind of how floyd haters swear Castillo beat him). He beat them. CLose fights but he beat them. Ricky has skill and talent and give him the respect you avoid giving Calzaghe, he came to the states. He left Warren. He didn't hide behind an ocean. His talent is fantastic considering the BS training methods he was using and when he obliterates Paulie (who is supposed to be one on the best pure boxers in the sport) you'll be left with nothing to do but concede Ricky is better than you thought.
Oh, and the difference between Ricky and TOney is that RIcky gets fat and has the cajones to lose the weight again. Toney got fat and just gave up.
