Reasons....
Hatton is one of the most overrated boxers of our time. I like Hatton...he's a class act but he's really not that good. He bullied Kostya into submission other than that he really hasnt had any top notch opposition until he met Manny and when he did he got blown out in 2 rounds.
Go and watch his fights in his prime before he set off to america - you'll find most of the more significant ones on youtube- the Ben Tackie fight is a good one.
Ok, the Ben Tackie fight is a perfect example... Dont you remember when he got rocked and knocked down by Tackie? That is the same mistake he made against Pacman and Floyd, problem is that Tackie is a C+ fighter, so he could not capitalize on it like the A fighters did/do.
Several reasons.
1 - Two chefs working on the same stew.
Mayweather would show Ricky how to apply a fundamental D to his aggressive style, and then Lee Beard and Hatton would prepare their own way when Sr. wasn't around. Undoing everything trying to be instilled by Floyd. Floyd starts dicking around with the camp as a result of not being primary trainer, acknowledged only as a consultant. *Ouch*
Hatton couldn't get down BASICS in defense, that's how bad off he was with Graham. Move your head, so it's not being taken off when darting in. *DUH!*
2 - Oscar insisted to Ricky, Pac didn't hit that hard. *D'oh*
3 - Believe it or not, Hatton's chin hasn't looked the same since Jr. stopped him. Paulie stopped Ricky in his tracks with one of his shots when Hatton did his trademark looping lunge in. Paulie! The writing on the wall was right there for me. When you're nearly KO'd in your previous fight after having been stopped, and then nearly stunned by a light light light puncher, going at the elite again with bad D is a recipe for disaster.
That's pretty much it.
Ricky was likely told: "Do your thing, Ricky!! You've fought the best out there! What does Manny have that Floyd didn't? You don't have to change your style for anyone."
I believe with a trainer showing up late you never get in the right frame of mind. I think you just get pissed off thinking about the cash you are spending on what is supposed to be top notch training and the guy isn't even punctual. Want to know why Lee worked with Ricky? It's because Floyd wasn't there to start on time. Ricky is a beast in the gym and gives all during his camps. For his trainer to not offer the same courtesy is BS.
I think manny was to strong and he needed to take the fight into the later rounds. He also didn't give manny a fare distance as he(Hatton) was always marging in straight foward. Against Mayweather he did the same, but Mayweather is a defensive fighter that will always run in the first half of the fight untill he see's an opening.
When has anyone legitimately claimed that Hatton was multi-faceted? He has a come forward (with hands down) type of style. He made that mistake against Floyd, and he made it against Pacman. When has Hatton ever boxed effectively while retreating? When has anyone seen Hatton use a fukin jab effectively? When has anyone seen Hatton effectively counter punch?

Bullshit
I think Pac beats Hatton any day of the week but the way Hatton went down twice in the 1st and then got KO'd in the 2nd wasnt because Pac was better there must have been something wrong on Hatton's part to get taken out so easily like that.
Hatton had the wrong mind set, constantly saying that he was bigger then Pacquiao.
nah he lost fair and square against Pac regardless of what went on with Sr.
He didn't lose fair and square to Mayweather however, because it wasn't reffed fair and square.
Delusional nutthuger.
If Hatton wanted to wrestle Floyd he should done it at Wrestlemania.
I totally agree with you. In my honest opinion, Hatton is still undefeated.
Cortez is responsible for the 1st loss and Floyd Sr for the 2nd.
Ricky Hatton, 45-0 undefeated baby!
