the mayweather straight up said they don't go into fight w/ strategies. they don't watch tape.
on a positive note: that just speaks to floyd's ring intelligence... to be able to adjust in the ring without knowledge of his opponent, other than casually watching their fights on hbo or something without careful study.
on a negative note: if floyd and his team just take time to study video of his opponents, floyd would be smashing mofos a lot easier. for instance... team floyd never caught onto the fact that hatton cocks his left hook before throwing it while roach caught onto it and planned for it. imho, floyd could've KOed hatton under 3 if his team studies tape.
like I've been saying all along, if you want to work on the pads or on your defense, go w/ 1 of the mayweather bros. if you want tactics and strategy, the best are roach and maybe nacho.
that's cool... but a little preparation won't hurt
i dunno... a 2nd round stoppage is more exciting than at 10 round stoppage.
there's alway room for improvement.
fights getting stop before the 6th i'm not a big fan of don't get me wrong i like knockouts and a 2nd round is impressive but i be rooting against it in fights. that ortiz fight where his spirit was broken.first time seeing both fighter fight ortiz got a early knockdown i was hoping the dude made it out round and he did. i feel same way about all fighter with early knockdown or knockouts even the ones i'm rooting to win. like tyson in the 90's i would have been rooting for they ass to make to it the 6th. now if the fight was like hagler vs hearns well thats another story. but i understand what you saying pullcounter about he would have gotten the knockout early if he was to watch tape
i'm going to be honest i don't think floyd really be listening to roger all that much i'm sure he does but. i don't remeber what he said in hoya fight that was helpful " keep whupping his ass do not count. hatton fight before the 8 round " keep potshoting run that shit up the middle touch the body" floyd went out their show hatton that his fight game was from diffrent palnet compare to his in that round.well he did do some of what his uncle said. before 9 round u aint got to walk way from that mother****er you can beat him insieside. floyd next round use the jab. 10 knockout. floyd completes the game plan when he gets in the ring. roger don't be saying to much in the coner but i know he got he say things that helpful to him or else he would not be around
that doesnt mean they dont prepare for a fight.
never said they didn't
of course they prepare for their fights but floyd feels he doesnt need to study a fighter using tapes.
floyd shouldn't but someone from his team should.
im guessing that from seeing these differentboxers in person or whatever...he learns their fighting style right therefore he feels he doesnt need tapes.
yeah... floyd is a genius in the ring, but just imagine if he studied his oponents before hand... his performances would be way better imho.
which makes sense b. you dont want to study tapes as well as an old fighter style of a ertain fighter when they most likely have evolved somewhat from then
that's why you watch many tapes to see how they look against certain styles or to pick up on habits and tendencies to exploit.
not for nothing but, most of his opponents approach has been the same.... pressure fighters...
actually, floyd has fought many many different types of styles
even oscar de la hoya, who had the height and reach advantage, abandoned his good jab and tried pressure...
roach said dlh abandoned the game plan
floyd knows that strategy...
yep
guarantee you he'd have to be up day and night studying a long, rangy boxer with a good stick...thats a style he hasn't been in against yet...
that's not a style per say, that is a type of boxer. in other words, you have to be tall and have long arms to make that style work. its not a style its a physical attribute.
but I agree, that someone with those physical attributes and knows how to use them will give PBF a really tough time.
Mayweather doesnt need to watch tape.....
roger should atleast watch tape
BECAUSE STYLES MAKES FIGHTS......
exactly, that's why you watch video to figure out a person's style. not everybody fights identically
JMM has never fought a mayweather so who can he watch JMM fight to guage how he will come at Floyd???
floyd (or roger) can watch jmm fights and analyze whatever habits / mistakes jmm does and capitalize on it.

I honestly think that Floyd believes Marquez is small enough that he can jsut bully him around. I truly believe that is his strategy. We may actually see an aggressive money may on Saturday.
why? obviously they see boxing as an art form, like painting or jazz music... they do things base don feeling.
why should they change shit up when floyd hasnt lost?
dont fix it if its not broken
At that level they have to know what they have in front of him. There's no way they don't have a basic strategy at least.

And do you honestly believe that they go into fights with no strategy?...not saying it's impossible, but I'm a bit skeptical.....this is a million dollar business how could one not be prepared?, all that talk was just the Mayweathers trying to look above everybody else....
they only had the DVD player for two days...Sr took that one to the pawnshop for Taco Bell money :D
A working DVD player gets you 8 chalupas and a nacho supreme.. Sr. is smarter than he looks.
This made Roger look so stupid. How can you be a good trainer if you go into fights without a strategy? In fact, you are supposed to have MULTIPLE strategies, not just one. What this shows is how talented Floyd is, but if Roger had another fighter, would he do the same thing? No one can adapt the way Floyd does, so Roger is a shitty trainer.
i gotta agree... I ain't gonna say roger is a shitty trainer, but imho he should be watching and studying tape. a lot of floyd's fights would be a lot easier if they dissected their opponent's styles and made specific plans to counter it.
Roger couldn't figure out how to work a VCR so he pawned it for crack
true story
They made DVD's for the man...
Don't talk about Roger...he'll choke your ass...
Don't think crackheads aint strong...when they wired they aint to be fukked wit:lol1:
