I thought MAYWEATHER could have ended Hatton much earlier then did.
And i think the reason for that is because a lot of fans and experts were very suspicious before the fight that it could wind up being a complete mismatch.
So Floyd let him go rounds, let the fight look competitive, and then scores the knockout, therefore elevating his win.
Just a thought
Not to take anything away from Floyd's win. But I personally thought Hatton was winning rounds early. Mayweather looked pretty uncomfortable with Hatton's speed... but that is just my opinion.
No, he didn't carry Hatton, nor did he carry Marquez. He has never carried anyone.
yup...its a flomos excuse without having to say Floyd doesnt have KO power against true welterweights. JMM wasnt even a light welterweight

floyd also carried baldo, oscar, and marquez
he could have won those fights in more impressive fashion but it would also meant that he would have to take risks in order to provide a more compelling fight
taking risk or any damage during one of his matches is something floyd has not done since he has been fighting at welter and it is also why we will probably never see floyd get beat.
we might see floyd lose a dec but we will probably never see him take an ass whooping

thats what he does, carries guys, and that has been one of my biggest issues with floyd as a fighter, other than cherry picking, but, floyd carries guys when he could get them out of there and it's really frustrating and only leads to criticism, i.e. the baldomir fight, in which a serious flurry would've ended it, not that he had him hurt, but everyone was tired of seeing a blowout being dragged out.
he gets the kill, but rarely ever goes for the kill, maybe in this fight manny will push floyd to go for the kill................ one thing i think is going to be a reality is that many will force floyd to fight or he risks losing on the cards. and my logic is, if the DLH fight was decided by one judge/ or round, and hatton won a round or two against floyd, and JMM was hitting floyd fairly clean, then manny is certainly going to make floyd fight.....
I'm rewatching the fight right now, when I first watched it I saw a really close fight early, but on this rewatch I'm thinking that the crowd fooled the judges into thinking Hatton was landing when he wasn't. I'm seeing shots go off of Floyd's gloves and the crowd cheering like he just knocked him down.

just admit it, hatton was giving floyd problems.
If Mayweather carried him I would have to say it was for about an extra round. Mayweather gave Hatton a beating in the 8th round. In the 9th round, instead of capitalizing on the serious beating he gave Hatton in the 8th; he went and put on a jabbing exhibition. That was clearly the round to finish him in. Of course Mayweather could have stopped him sooner.
I doubt it, many people thought it was a mismatch but Hatton was undefeated at the time so it was legit enough a challenge taking into consideration Baldomir & Gatti. It would have been in Floyd best interest to make it look like it was indeed a mismatch due to Floyds superior skills.
I think Floyd was suprised early by Hattons speed, as he almost went down in round 1 I believe when he was backing up to avoid Hattons attack.
Hatton was also not allowed to fight his fight, and became more and more careless and as a result Floyd was able to do his thing more and more which is defense and counter. He was probably capable of beating Hatton in a more impressive fashion but its not his style.
Good post. Hatton did way better in that fight than people like to believe, in the first half of the fight at least.
you have gotta be ****ing kidding me ! this isnt the WWE assholes it was a boxing match and for the first 5 or 6 rounds he gave floyd all he can handle you really need 2 watch the fight now
Actually, given hatton's preferred method of attack it could have been a wwe wrestlemania.

Mayweather is cautious and methodical by nature. He took Hatton out when he was sure that he was ready to go. It serves no purpose to compare Hatton's fights with Manny and Floyd. Same with Marquez and DLH.

The feet got tangled in rnd 1. Thats why he almost fell.

Oh God. Look up how many people had Hatton winning that fight through 6 or 7 rounds. Lederman and Ronnie Shields come to mind. It wasn't a total mismatch and Ricky wasn't going out any earlier than the tenth. Ricky became so reckless because of Cortez's reffing that he got stupid. With another ref, Ricky still loses but it goes to the cards.
Yeah lederman also gave Hatton round 1, which was a clear win for Floyd, and he scored round 6 9-9, which should have been a 10-8 round.
I rewatched it a few months ago. Mayweather was tagging Hatton since the first round. 1 Judge actually had Hatton winning it, a clear wtf.
But to say mayweather carried hatton is a lie. Its another excuse for flomos for excusing the lack of floyds feather fists. See JMM. He he more power than paulie , but not as much as the true welterweights.
hatton was giving floyd all he could handle in the first 5 rounds, you flomos need to stop rewriting history.:nonono:
Rewatch the fight and see if can you can make that same comment again. Floyd was in no trouble and was relaxed and focused at all times of the fight. Hatton only hit Floyd clean a couple of times. Isnt it funny that all of Floyds fights sound the same "so and so was doing good early until Floyd began to dominate". Of course they look good because Floyd doesnt study tapes so he has to adjust to what the fight does in the ring. Floyd dominated Hatton in every round except the first 3. Hatton may have won 2 rounds by sheer rough housing. Once Floyd dials in its over, just like with Chavez,Hatton, Marquez, Gatti, Judah, Corely, Brussels, Mitchell, Castillo 2, Baldomir, and Coralles. Pac will get frustrated then dominated. Good luck to Pac though.
