idk why but everyone seems to forget about the first Williams-Quintana fight.
Ever stop to think that maybe if Williams doesnt blow Quintana out in the first round of the rematch, he has another tough fight? How many times have we seen a fighter nearly blow someone out in round 1, and go on to nearly lose the fight? (Pacquiao-Marquez for starters)
Martinez is the same kind of fighter as Quntana but better. and slicker. Martinez isnt going to just stand there for Williams like Wright did.
I personally am picking Martinez by decision in a good fight.
And also, MINTO is a live dog on the undercard but less so. Im goin with Arreola early KO but MINTO can punch and he will have some oppurtunities to land his shots.
Next saturday is a very interesting night of fights
hes fighting paul williams not kelly pavlik i think you got them confused buddy
I agree that Martinez is a much tougher fight than Pavlik. Sergio is more versatile than Pavlik.
Paul Williams had to hang on for dear life against Tony in the last 3 rounds.
Williams clearly won the last round and he was never "hanging on for dear lif in the last 3 rounds". No need to rewrite history.
With Plaster??
Martinez is mving up to 160 to fight the best fighter in the divison...
Um not a 50/50 fight
Bro.
Put ur points where your lip gloss is.

Wright was a perfect opponent for Williams. No power, old, and as you said stands in fron of an opponent. Martinez should be a challenge for Williams although Im wondering why its not at 154..probably an atempt to reduce the speed/mobility of Martinez. Paul hasnt been in with great young opposition so this should be an interesting fight to watch how he does.
Because Martinez was training for a fight with a 158 pound limit and he did not want to put his belt on the line on short notice. Your statement is how false information goes wild.
AGREED! But the thing that sets PW apart from the fakes in boxing is that he will take those risks. I wouldnt be surprised if sm walked him onto shots all nite. And I would be surprised if PW totally dominates him.
I agree, but Williams has been sparring Quintana to prepare for Martinez. The only Martinez fight I have seen was vs. Cintron and I believe he was robbed. Martinez likes to dance around with his hands down and isn't active all 3 minutes.

Martinez is a good slick, skilled Southpaw. He has a underrated amature pedigree which included going the 1997 amature World Championships. He never took up the sport of boxing until the age of 20.
He has a impressive record of 47 fights with 44 wins. His only loss came to Antonio Margarito back in 2000. He also has two draws. He was robbed out of a victory against Kermit Cintron back in Febuary the fight was ruled a draw. But virtually all think Martinez should of won.
The competition he has mixed with, isn't great. But he does holds wins over two very capable British fighters in Richard Williams and Adrian Stone and he defeated both men in there home countires.
Another impressive win is were he totally took apart Alex Bunema who was coming of 4 straight wins which included a KO win over former World Champion Roman Karmazin.
To beat Williams is a big ask especailly at 160lb. And If he does win, I don't see it being by KO. Williams has a fine set of whiskers and Martinez isn't a feriouces hitter by any means, more a sharp puncher than anything.
Sergio will have to use his speed and angles to frustrate Williams. And make him make silly mistakes that he can capatilse on.
But Paul seems to be hitting his prime as a fighter. I see his incredible work rate, strength and size being a problem for Martinez.
Yea Williams' work rate and size is gonna be a problem for everybody. But if Martinez takes his time and spends a couple rounds feeling out the freak, even if he has to lose those rounds, i think he can find an effective rhythem.
Quite frankly, i think both fighters are overrated. If williams can beat the crap out of martinez, i would rethink that opinion, but williams is just way to defensively open and gets hit a LOT.

i agree pwill isnt that talented and without his dalshim arm reach and stamina he doesnt really have much else....cant fight on the inside and cant really box he can be timed and hurt and cant fight some one who uses angles....if he didnt hurt quintana bad then stop him quintana would have whooped his ass again....after martinez outboxes him i wonder if hes gona make excuses again about having an "off night"
Meh, I knew the 1st Quintana fight was going to be brought up. Which is fair enough. Don't forget, Martinez got beat up pretty good by Margarito, another high work rate, pressure fighter like PWill. Regardless of all that, should be a great fight.
If the fight was at 154 I would definetly bet on Martinez and stack up points... But i'm not sure how the 6 pounds is gonna affect Martinez... Martinez is very very good, plus we've seen the problems that southpaws can present to Williams
Martinez was much more impressive in other fights, but he is a little overrated.
He is still very slick and tricky, and has good movement.
IF its true that Williams is sparring with Quintana, thats gonna help Williams's chances a great deal. can anyone comfirm this?QUOTE]
It's true.
There are pictures on fight news

Quintana-Williams 1 wasn't quite the schooling people make it out to be. At least in my opinion.
That was a very tough fight for both Williams and Quintana. Quintana started well but Williams really did all he could to take the fight back. Quintana just showed great characteristics and refused to yield or allwo that to happen. Quintana was also exhausted from boxing a pretty much perfect fight and had to dig down deep.
We are yet to see if Martinez has the focus/characteristics to refuse to yield when Williams tried to really put the pressure on him and stcik to the game plan, and the heart to dig down deep when he's exhausted and has a monster in front of him.
We know Martinez has a similar style and similar skills to Quintana though. That should make this real interesting.
Williams has been sparring with Quintana though, I think that will serve him well.
I'm really looking forward to this fight! Should be interesting!

i don't think anyone thinks martinez is gonna be a push over for pwill
willians and pacuiao ...2 fighter you DONT bet against
Who are those guys, never heard of em. Unless he is drugged or robbed again, Martinez is gonna shoot shots from afar all night long and tie Williams up on the inside. We are gonna see a ring technician next Sat night, and it won't be Williams. I don't see a blowout but a lot of surprised people come Sunday morning.
