This is certainly a very interesting bout. Could Manny jump to 154lb and defeat arguably the best Jr Middleweight In The World?
How would Manny deal with the extra weight and could he deal with Martinez's slick, fast, style aswell as his size and crisp punching?

Honestly I doubt Martinez is gonna stop Manny, when he couldn't even stop Cintron (save me that b.s. about the KD because Cintron wasn't even on queer street and was talking to the ref while getting up).
I could see a scenario is which he cuts Pacquiao, but I doubt the ref would step in on behalf of Manny due the magnitude of the fight and the fact that Manny keeps throwing when he's hurt.
I do feel Martinez wins this via UD as 154 is too much for Manny and I think Pacquiao's limit is 147. Manny would be giving up 4-5 inches in height, almost 10 inches in reach, and 15-20lbs on fight night.
There are weight classes for a reason, but I will admit Manny has shocked me before so a win over Martinez is possible (although I wouldn't bet on it).
Different people different style. Id like to see how Pac does with Marg. If he's too good for Marg then for sure it would an interesting match up at 154 with Martinez.

too slick for Manny....Martinez stops Manny :boxing:
I seriously think Pacquiao's limit was 147. He looks kinda fat now at 150, but maybe it'll change by the end of training camp. Dude can only climb so many hills.
@Brandon Taylor -Looking at a Potential Manny Pacquiao vs. Sergio Martinez Middleweight Championship Fight-
If Manny Pacquiao looks impressive against Antonio Margarito, and Sergio Martinez can get past Paul Williams and keep the Middleweight title, will Pacquiao and his team consider trying for a 9th title in 9 weight classes?

Next month on consecutive Saturdays, Manny Pacquiao will go for his 8th world title in 8 divisions against Antonio Margarito, and Sergio Martinez will defend the Middleweight title against Paul Williams in their much anticipated rematch. I believe Pacquiao will win his fight, even though I expect Margarito will give a solid performance. I expect a comfortable points win for Pacquiao, but what happens if Pacquiao dominates Margarito? That’s where things get very interesting.
Even though Martinez and Williams will be focusing on their fight, they are both going to have a keen eye on what happens the week before. It’s no secret Williams has basically spent the last year looking for a Pacquiao fight. Even though Martinez has been less vocal, he wants the fight. Essentially everyone from 140 lbs - 154 lbs calls out Pacquiao after their fights. Martinez vs. Williams I was fantastic, and I expect the rematch could be even better. I give the slightest of edges to Martinez. Not knowing the next time Mayweather will fight again, I will make the winner of Martinez-Williams II, the number 2 boxer in the sport.
Even though it’s possible that Williams and Martinez could have a 3rd fight and Pacquiao could fight Cotto next year, the question is whether a dominant victory by Pacquiao would be enough to convince him to go for the Middleweight title against Sergio Martinez.
It’s unbelievable that Pacquiao could fight for the Middleweight title. It wasn't too long ago when Pacquiao jumped from lightweight to welterweight to fight Oscar De La Hoya, and Paul Williams said Oscar was going to pound Pacquiao, because the difference in height and strength was too much. Margarito wanted a De La Hoya fight, but Oscar chose to fight Pacquiao instead, which caused Margarito to rip De La Hoya for fighting a man too small for him, when a guy his size was standing right in front of him. Ironically, now Williams has been trying to get a fight against Pacquiao and Margarito is going to fight the “little man.”
The catch weight for Pacquiao-Margarito is 150 pounds, and I’m interested to see what Pacquiao's weight will be the night of the fight. I don’t think weight plays a huge factor in fights unless fighters have extreme advantages, like a 15-20 lb. difference between the fighters on fight night. If Pacquiao is about 154 on fight night against Margarito and knocks him down or wins almost every round, I don’t see a big difference with him fighting Martinez at the catch weight of 155 lbs and Pacquiao maybe coming in at 158 lbs on fight night.
As I've said before, I think a Pacquiao win leads to Pacquiao-Cotto II, but if Martinez beats Williams, a fight between Martinez and Pacquiao will probably be the best fight that can be made in the sport at the time. I don’t want to get too far ahead, because Williams could easily beat Martinez and mess up the possibility. I’m hoping that Martinez wins and I can spend next spring or summer talking about Pacquiao vs Martinez for the Middleweight Crown and the Pound for Pound Title.
155lbs is reasonable at middleweight title if he beat Margarito easy. Because Pacquiao cannot even make 150 lbs. Margarito KO and beat Sergio Martinez in 7 rounds. Lets hope this fight happens. Its hard to imagine a little man from Flyweight will fight up to Middleweight class and beat world champions.
we'll see when they fight. its possible though. im not saying its going to happen. If Manny can stay in jr middleweight the fight could happen. fighting Margarito in 151 lbs is like a test for him and see if he can go as far as 154 lbs. too big argument is irrelevant. he has bee fighting bigger guys and destroy them too.
Martinez wont kill Pac like someone said here. you are delusional. Nobody will kill Manny. I dont care if Martinez is bigger, he aint faster than Manny. nobody will kick Manny's A S S either. quit hating Manny
Interesting match up...I'm sure this has been beaten up to death...
IMO Martinez would win...but lets think about this...
Martinez
Although Martinez has shown vulnerability, at 154, the larger, sturdier, mobile Martinez will have a good chance to beat Pac. He won't stand in front of Pac, he constantly shifts movement side to side, Martinez can effectively time, and knows how to move in and out. Pac does get confused with sound techical counter-punchers that throw 3+ punch combinations.
Pacquiao
Quick Movement and volume...Pac has proved time and time again that his movement and volume has outlasted most opponents in the ring. Pac would rely on feints to draw in Martinez and then attack with a flurry of punches forcing Martinez to slip away. Martinez likes to keep his hands down low when he slips so Pac would continue the pressure taking advantages of those moments. Martinez (at times) likes to stay in the pocket and fight before slipping out, Pac again would have to take advantage of Martinez low guard. Pac definitely has more ring longevity possibly outlasting Martinez.
Conclusion
Pac, historically, always had some trouble with counter punchers/boxers. For instance, JMM is "the guy" who arguably beat Pac. More recently, before getting rocked in the 4th round Cotto was boxing very well before he got careless. Clottey, a larger defensive boxer, peppered him with only a few shots creating visible damage. Martinez has fought larger opponents in Williams, Citron, Pavlik and so on...his fights were simply impressive despite the outcome, Martinez would have to go into this fight thinking speed, movement, and jabs ALL DAY. It's his bread and butter, although Pac has faced (cough cough) larger opponents too...he hasn't fought a larger boxer like Martinez. Kind of like a JMM 2.0............kind of.

If Pacquiao is successful with Margarito, this will pave the way for Pac v Martinez, Chavez Jr, Williams and Floyd at 154.
and manny been koed in 3 rounds twice 112 pounds. whats ya point?
You keep bringing up the 112 thing like a broken record which is any knowledgeable person knows its irrelevant of these days. It is fact that Pac was severely dehydrated in those lower divisions. If Pac to be koed now here, it is not because he been koed at 112 theories. It is because he went too far from his comfortable weight which is most probably at 140-147 and the fact Margo is too big for him at 150 or Martinez at 154. Let say Margo and Martinez was about this same height and body build of Pac, do you think they have a chance to beat Pac? If your 112 thing is so accurate as what you want us to believe. How come those fighters Pac fought at 126 (after Barrera fight) and above who are many times better than Margarito or Martinez did not even manage to knock him down not even once?
This is mad stupid. We seen manny frustrated against Marquez and Morales, and he didn't up it to the next level.
Wheres every time Floyd has been noticeably rocked, he would immediately go into the next gear. Young Mayweather did it perfectly like they teach you to do when hurt after Mosley rocked him.
It takes a zen state of mind to handle it as professionally as Floyd did when Mosley rocked him. It takes a zen state of mind to remain calm under danger and accordingly make the necessary adjustments. It takes a zen state of mind to be Floyd Mayweather in the ring. A lesser fighter would instinctively and emotionally react, making more mistakes.
Floyd has broke his hand during a fight before, and upon returning to his corner he told them can't quit. manny has had two bad cuts on separate occasions and wanted to quit each time.
Why is manny mentally stronger than Floyd? Because Floyd actually has a personality outside of the ring? rofl
thats what i was saying i was laughing at the guy who was trying to say manny would beat floyd because boxing is mostly mental meaning he is mentally stronger than floyd which is bull**** lol
right pac would go underdog against martinez. you breakdown how pac can be beaten. do you think pac would win against sergio?
i'm curious how would he? Specifically what advantages would he have at 154? What plan or strengths would work for him?
dont confused your half a brain to mine....i belive that boxing is mostly mental which is why i think pac beats floyide...martinez aint a better counter pucher than jmm and the only thing he has over pac is size, thats it.....if a pressure fighter like margo could stop a young martinez, what else could a better overall pressure fighter in pac could do to sergio.....
you think manny beats floyd because boxing is mostly mental? the most focused composed smartest boxing the game floyd? lmaoooooooooooooo im done with this thread lmaooo
manny is mentally stronger than floyd lmaooo
