Because I'm Mexican American. The way he talks, the way he carries himself is familiar to me because thats an everyday part of my life. When he mentions carne asada and menudo in post fight interviews, I relate to that. But will America relate to it? Will is Mexican American "barrio-ness" alienate other Americans such as African Americans and white Americans?
What I'm asking I guess is, is Chris to Mexican American for America?
Well I can relate to Kelly Pavlik because he's tall and white, and so am I. We both grew up in the rust belt and we both like hamburgers. And we both eat peanut butter on a spoon. And we like the old Metallica and we have each owned a Chevrolet pickup at one time or another. And we both had a mullet in high school.
did you also vote for hillary clinton?
I think it isn't going to hold him back. He's Mexican but he's also American and he's just about all we got right now. It's kind of like Obama, American people in general were like I don't know about this guy but he's all we got right now and he talks a good game so I'm going to back him. I'm not saying that all Arreola is is talk, he's got skills plus I like him because he's got some hood about him.:sombrero:
I honestly thought you'd finish this sentence with ....I'm fat.lol
naw, i actually gained 30 lbs in 2 years after getting into a deep relationship, but since thats been over for 5 months now, im down to 200 even. im 5'11.
:lol1::lol1::lol1:
my turn: I can relate to Roy Jones because we both listen to hip hop!
oficially smashed the thread....
I can also relate to some fighters...
Like i can relate to gary lockett because i cant fight either
aww, isnt it cute to see Diego and Flawless cup each other's balls like that? I'm sure they're going back and forth with their karma points. "Way to go BFF! You are soo owning him". I bet if they ever met outside the net, they'd become great friends like this..
If walking forward and throwing punches and blocking with your face is a skill then by all means he's talented.
But I think I could teach a ****ing kangaroo to do that if I had enough food.
What a fuken idiot! Fans like you are pathetic and make this board a fuken piece of shit sometimes.

Fernando vargas wasnt too mexican american :)
Seriously. He's talking about how he relates to a boxer. I didn't realize we were running Lifetime TV over here where we talk about our feelings and what makes us feel good about ourselves.

As a white guy I'm relieved to see a debate along racial lines that doesn't involve any white people, we get the finger pointed at us constantly like we invented racism or something.
Arreola seems like a decent guy who just needs to train more, I don't think anyone is attacking his character. Who he is and what his skill level is are 2 completely different things.
I think America will accept him on the same level that all other Mexican-Americans are accepted at, but I don't think the hardcore boxing fans will accept him as a top HW anytime soon.
