Walters underutilizes his long reach, and tbh maybe it's even a good thing when facing Lomachenko. Loma is master in taking away opponents jab. Nicolas short uppercuts with little step in on the inside are his most dangerous weapon against Loma (and they are things of beauty).
Walters jab won't be a problem for Loma, actually it would be hard to Axeman to work when his jab is not effective. But monster uppercuts Walters throws at the mid and close distance are gonna be a problem for Vasyl.
Neither Loma or Rigo is afraid. Rigo has nothing to lose, his career is almost done, nothing to lose. Loma fought overweight Salido is his second fight, doesn't look like he really cares about beauty of the record.
Arum doesn't want this fight though imo. He wants to move Loma up, where at least some money could be made. Rigo is unpopular and unfortunately it's his own damn fault. Same applies to Loma, but he has a chance still.
It's could have been a war only if Marvin decided to start a war. Otherwise he just picks Toney apart from the outside with his jab and movement. Toney is to static to deal with Hagler.
Why people hate on Ward is beyond me. Guy took every challenge in his own weight, beat everyone with ease, went up and fought the most dangerous for him boxer possible (who was clearly at least top3 p4p). He is no Canelo, no GGG, no ****ing Gift Garcia.
He is clearly in HOF already, there are many boxers in Canastota whom Andre surpassed already.
He did this stuff at least one time before and it worked. Kov also did this couple of rounds before and it also worked iirc. They were going against each other all night, toe for toe, punch for punch. Great fight, skill level, styles, drama, controversial decision – I haven't seen something like for that for a while.
WSB is basically an amateur boxing without headgear. Softer gloves, small amount of rounds and the main thing – all other guys are amateurs, they fight like amateurs. Unleash someone like Salido on them and he is gonna have a ****ing feast. I honestly think that Loma wasted his time there, not sure it helped him at all to get used to the pros.
Btw, people who say something like "he lost to Salido, it's his ceiling" are funny as hell, Bhop ceiling is Mitchel then and Pac's is Terrasomething.
Dude is on the run to make something completely new and hopefully (it's a long shot, but who knows) to help change boxing, bring back proper mentality to it – when best fights the best, going for glory, not for rodsalkas of the world.
Salido is a guy who you want by your side at the war. He comes for win, to deal a damage, doesn't care about rulese-shmules ugly-shmugly.
P.S. Loma is a badass though, Siri is the worst possible match up for an amateur boxer.
Beter is freakishly strong and heavy-handed, with great midrange head-body combos. I see where you are coming from, but this guy during all his amateur career was labeled as a pro-style boxer. He lacks jab though and long-range game, always had problems with stamina, not that quick on his legs and is not crafty enough imo. But he can be a problem for anyone in LH, don't underestimate him.
Siri either tests Arums or just doesn't want to be clowned. In any case, personally I don't want to watch this rematch, it doesn't make a sense to me. Bob is right in one thing – first fight was a fluke, nothing more. AFAIK Siri earned something like 50K for Vargas, while both Rocky and Walters got much more for Loma's fight.
Loma indeed has superior footwork, idk why it's hard to see or comprehend. Pac is living legend and is (or was) better in many other departments (punching power, speed, he is punching angles are crazy etc), but Loma gets much more from his footwork than Pac. Rigo has superior footwork than Pac also, I don't think it makes Manny look weaker or worse.
With all due respect to Joshua who is the future and present of the division, it'a all about how much of WK is left. I wanted him to retire after Jennings, he was already no good at that moment. Props for both guys for taking a fight, it might too early for AJ and too late for WK, so looks like it's best time to do it.
no, it's just a bs from gvozdyk
when he will really have a chance to fight kovalev he would sign to fight him in a blink of an eye
and slavs fight each there (e.g. wlad-povet, hopefully usyk-levedev), damn they kill each other, we have a war now with russians, my city is like 40 km from war zone and I'm just back from arms for rotation
Loma is also a down to earth guy, I met him couple of times in Ukraine. Rooting for hi-tech, but like Walters also. Here is hoping for a good fight.
Btw. Hating on a any fighter who doesn't cherrypick and fights best possible opponent it's a most stupid thing boxing fan could do. Especially if he entered a ring at least once in a lifetime and knows how hard this **** is. Have nothing but respect for these guys, same as for Ward and Kovalev.
Kinda obvious. Rigo is a great master, but the guys he fights have nothing to do with him in one ring.
Walters, Russel Jr and so-so Martinez make a pretty solid case for a guy with 8 fights to be at least in top 5 p4p.
(In my list he is already 3rd behind Ward and Kov, but I'm crazy fan)
Floyd @ 130 was a higher calibre fighter than loma. Sorry. Go watch his fights.
I've watched all PBF fights and his 130 fights (Ndou, Cast, Chop-chop) are my favourite, but Floyd never met fighter as skillful and intelligent in the ring as Loma. Obviously mu judgement is based more on Lomas amateur career, he didn't make a proper argument in pros yet. And I doubt he would, simply doesn't have p4p caliber guys around him – Garcia and Bud, that's basically it. Rigo is small and old, Gamboa is shot.
At some point at his career Arthur started to believe in his own hype, some people even called him favorite before super 6, he is good German champion, with typical German high-guard style, great chin and character, but nothing more. He has and had very little chance against Golovkin or even Canelo.
