"We tried before to make this fight but we didn't have enough funds to do the fight based on what Nicholas was asking for, and now we've increased what we originally offered and we can do the fight," Top Rank chairman Bob Arum told ESPN.com, adding that Walters would earn more than the $550,000 he turned down last time but that Lomachenko is not offering him a win bonus. "For me it's the best fight we could put on at this point with Lomachenko. He is in my mind the best fighter in the world. I enjoy watching him so much. I get such a kick out of him and all the things he can do in that ring. He's the best in the world, so the challenge is to get him the biggest possible test in every fight because that then corroborates my view of him.

Multiple sources have stated his purse is over $600,000
you're wrong arum had nothing to do with it.canelo getting hurt allowed HBO to make the fight financially.walters himself seemed more intent on sitting around waiting for a big payday.
of course Arum did, he is the promoter of both. he made comments that Walters was pricing himself out etc etc. I didn't believe it then.
Remember at 1st they didn't fight because Walters gave up the title on the scales and Loma was trying to "unify". Then it was a money thing, walters was pricing himself out.
I don't buy it but all that doesn't matter now as they are signed to fight.
You get the sense that Arum did all this BS with the money to give Loma, the more marketable fighter with an HBO deal, the better chance to win by having Walters on the shelf for 11 months and not getting him another fight.
Walters may not be as marketable as Loma but he performed well on TV and has the best win out of both of them (over Donaire)..
Of course we will never know this for sure.you're wrong arum had nothing to do with it.canelo getting hurt allowed HBO to make the fight financially.walters himself seemed more intent on sitting around waiting for a big payday.
Haymon is unintentionally employing the same tactic right now. But I don't think it will work because unlike Walters, these PBC fighters have made millions already and thus long layoffs won't affect them that much.
Predicting Loma, but, yeah, this is a can't miss for me. Walters almost missed it with his business decisions before, but it's here now. There aren't too many matches for Loma that would even be interesting, but this is one. Huge reach advantage for Walters.. Though i gotta go with the better pure boxer!
And now he's fighting after an 11 month lay off.
"Ey mon, mi nah tink a dese tings in advonce.."

:lol1: Making about the same amount huh? He could have made that a year ago and had a couple more paydays this year. He went to the Winky Wright school of economics I guess.
Or, he could have ended getting blackballed by Arum, like Rigondeaux did after he exposed Arum's personal pet, Nonito Donaire.you are a delusional fool.rigo blackballed himself by being a boring pile of steaming sh1t.arum gave rigo another chance to headline hbo against agbeko after fighting donaire and he was so boring people walked out in the middle of the fight.arum no longer has anything to do with rigo yet rigo is more irrelevant than he's ever been.
When a fighter signs a deal for a 600K purse, he is only going to get 300K tops.
People always forget that managers, trainers, sparring partners and the government like to be paid too.
I was just suggesting in another thread for these guys who want to turn down fights...PUT THEM ON THE SHELF! Yeah I know it is not fair but COME ON no talking about Walters but the sport in General...
Don't know if that would work with PBC fighters most of whom are on the shelf right now. But I could see why it worked for Walters.
Walters is still kind of dumb. Had he fought back then for 550k and he could have been fighting soon for whatever more.
Or, he could have ended getting blackballed by Arum, like Rigondeaux did after he exposed Arum's personal pet, Nonito Donaire.
Rigo was never a draw and that's why it didn't go for Rigo as the poster you quoted said. But Walters IS a draw (or exciting to watch for the casuals) so he could had BEEN making money. I know some of you peeps here go all out when trying to defend a fighter you like but think before you post, please.
So I find the bold kinda ironic.
Thanks bro will send green on recharge
Of course but I know what Lomachenko is about but Walters have my 100% support.
Let's have a friendly Avi bet?
I'm tired of looking at an avacado when I see you
