i dont think it would do huge numbers but its a fight that most actual boxing fans want to see. i think it would be a good one & a 50/50 fight. wasnt Postal/Crawford a PPV & the main event?
not only that he fights in his hometown like andre ward
in only his last two fights and its good to see boxing somewhere else for a change. the Ward comparisons are becoming more overly ridiculous on this site.
the SN crap is what pisses me off. what an idiot bitching about a p4p list when in MMA its discussed all the time as well. tosser. both those 2 are retarded.
PPV is part of the sport my friends. It is where every fighter wants to be featured now. Look at the TOP RANK PPV's put out this year. Compare them to what HBO has given us. Also include that with most of the BIG PPV fights they have brought to us this year the have included a 24/7 which is free with the membership. You also don't have to be a HBO subscriber to buy a PPV presented by HBO. The fact thay present a PPV event means they sponser the event by putting up funds for the fight. The fact they show the PPV fight the week after the event an have that fight be the undercard of a fight broadcast on their network is also good. To be able to see the fight again or for the first time for a price included in you membership.
I think Showtime needs to keep things the way they are what needs to happen is for Showtime and HBO to be able to get together on some of the PPV events or BIG FIGHTS. Much like they did back when Lewis fought Tyson. You have a fight out there that can be made but won't because of contractual obligations to certain networks. Lets face it the networks control the sport. Much like in the UFC where they control who fights who. If the network ain't buying it or one fighter is obligated to the other netwrok we as fans aren't getting the fight.....Lefty
never said i had a problem or anything with PPV. i said sort of cause he said you have to pay for HBO fights most of the time. which you really dont if you decide to wait.
Showtime is a better deal for boxing than HBO.
Think about it. HBO gets all this credit for putting on mega fights, but it's not like those fights are included with the HBO membership.
All Showtime fights are free with the membership. Whereas most of the best HBO fights, you have to pay for.
sort of is since they replay the PPV fights a week later. some wait and avoid results til then. or at least try.
height doesnt always determine the outcome though.
this is not a diss but i see most people say no one like noone on the net. where did people get that from? its no one. not noone. thats just funny to me.
lets say Pac lost to Hatton Floyd could still fight Pac anyways. remember when Morales and Pac both fought on the same card? Pac won his and Morales lost to Raheem. it was said they would only have a rematch if they both won. still fought anyways. that shit doesnt matter.
jeff lacy against calzaghe...the left hook that never came....hated that shit
x2 but Lacy in general. i never bought into the hype but i was really hoping he'd develop a lot more than he did. he was knocking people out more with a right than a left.
Diaz is a punk in the MMA world. he throws punches softer than Calzaghe most of the time. or more like Malignaggi. his punches mostly just annoy ya. he rarely puts good power into them and with those gloves of course you throw so many damage will show up but this kid could be KO'd in the first if Jones wanted. him beating Shamrock last Saturday was nice but Frank didnt even look right that night. something was off with him before he even got into the ring.
my loyalty is to boxing. not a network. i have a DVR but i would HBO one first cause like someone said Showtime repeats the crap out their fights the same night. can catch three different replays off em an hour apart a piece.
Hopkins vs Taylor - He could've easily won either of the two if he didn't opt to take the first few rounds as some sort of sparring session. I still think he won the rematch pretty damn convincingly, but the judges still didn't give it to him, and it was close. (I had it 115-113 for Bernard)
Barrera vs. Pacquiao 2 - Another example of a fighter not letting his hands go often enough. Pacquiao looked like absolute dogshit this night IMO, and Barrera could've easily capitalized on it and made some sort of statement, and possibly even gotten a win. When he let his hands go, he looked like the Barrera of old, but he rarely ever let them go to begin with.
i gotta say those were two of mine as well after thinking about this more. Hop could of easily made it more convincing and Barrera being hesitant was pissing me off. even though i like both Barrera was and is always one of my top favorites.
Mike Tyson - he was the reason i got into the sport as a kid.
WTF??? When's the movie comin out in the States? What are the details? Who produced it, what movie company, who directed it and who's in it?
Yo, i'm fcukin siked about the Tyson movie. I haven't even seen trailers or anything like that yet. I want it to be a total surprise. The last Tyson movie i saw was in the early 90's; it was a made for TV movie, when he raped that girl? It was a pretty weak movie though, only for propaganda and shiit.
Tyson's dope.
its a documentary. directed by James Toback.
April 24th...can't believe it hasn't been leaked to the net yet.
x2 but it will be in a week or two. DVDRips are usually out anywhere from a month til 2 weeks before it hits stores. sometimes sooner depending on which region gets it first. thought since this isnt a movie movie they might take longer. Tropic Thunder UNRATED didnt come out til a day or two before it hit stores but the rated one was out weeks earlier.
one kept getting posted everywhere last year saying it was the doc but all it was was the Tyson movie made for HBO.
i hate guys who got big mouths but this guy is too funny.
i hate most like that but i like Vic cause its funny.
It's funny how Vic was hated from more or less every member, now all of sudden people like the guy :wtf1:
i dont fall under that cause well ive liked him for several years now.
About 600K or so...
I'm sure his fellow countrymen fans will buy it and other casual fans who just like to watch him fight...
Clottey's never headlined a PPV...or HBO card that I can think of...
Yea so what I aint a Pacquiao fan...
only ones were Judah and Cotto fights. unless you mean he was the #1 known guy then no.
500-600 would be a success imo since Clottey is not known well to casual fans.
wouldnt surprise me but i dont think it'll happen. if he can rock Diaz like he did in the 2nd fight i dont think anybody should be surprised. maybe a kd at the most.
i like both but boxing will always be number 1 for me. whats so wrong with liking both? people always diss people that like mma like some childish girls. you dont like it just move on. all kinds of people like both or one or the other. i like all kinds of fighters in both as well and dont root/like a certain person cause of where they are from or skin color.
i remember Brian Kenny gave Floyd his due after the fight on ESPN Sportscenter. they gave it some decent coverage that night. more than usual i thought.
I still blame Lou Duva as I feel that Taylor was distracted by him being on the ring steps when Steele was asking him vital questions.
I also assume that Duva was involved in the decisions of Taylor's opposition and blame him for putting him in there with Terry Norris. Taylor moved up to WW and won the WBA title from undefeated Aaron Davis a year after losing to Chavez, but after that, struggled in a title defense against Glenwood Brown. Taylor was dropped twice and rocked several times. Then his management puts him in there with Norris.
i agree Duva distracted his ass. i think he could of said something to Steele but he was clearly distracted.
Steele didn't know the time left after the knock down, when Steele asked Meldrick if he was orite he didn't respond. So for that reason Richard had the right to stop the fight.
well he should with that red blinking light right behind Taylor's head lets the ref know there was 10 seconds left. still think it shouldnt of been stopped since like some said Chavez didnt have time to do anything else and since the dudes career went to a tragic end sometime after that fight. i agree with that guy on the Legendary Nights doc that Taylor should of at least been able to go on and have that win. sad what happened to Meldrick. he threw some awesome combos and loved watching his fights. yes Meldrick should of and i think he could of repsponed if he wasnt distracted but also the ref should of been aware of the time left in the fight.
btw Taylor's corner man needs shot for telling him he needed to win the last round and then distracting him when the ref was asking him if he was ok.
i agree. completely forgot he told him that. what a tool.
