Crawford possesses great skills and can fight at either range.
He's grown out of Lightweight and that's a good thing because the better challengers are waiting at 140. I think he creams the competition at 140 and only a matter of time before he takes over from Garcia.
140 threats;
Herrera
Garcia
Matthysee
Provodnikov
Algieri
Pistol
Vargas
Broner
I only see Herrera putting up a contest with Bud. A fight with Broner will be real interesting doe :)
Matthysse vs. Crawford please
Not even a difficult fight to pick, even with all of Matthysse's flaws, that straight right hand he throws whilst on the move will put Crawford away, I'm telling people Crawford backs up with his chin in the air. I'd like to think Crawford wins because lord knows I can't stand Matthysse's fans but he doesn't.
Very difficult to say how he'd do, but of like to see him vs the likes of Lundy, Dulorme or even Gomez before Danny, Lucas & Broner. Him vs Herrera would be very interesting as well

It's to soon he beat up a bully Ninto who would beat up little dudes wait till he starts beating top 140's than make your case
he didn't KO that russian bum in the cotto/rodriguez undercard and now he is stopping matthysse? :lol1:
It's hard to KO a fighter who is just trying to survive, but I agree. No way Crawford stops Matthysse.
matthysse has a punchers chance, as is the case against basically everyone he fights. but crawford is a much more complete and significantly superior fighter overall. i think he may stop matthysse.
herrera gets beaten down, he had a good style for garcia and fought at the top of his ability on a night when garcia seemed a bit off his game. but at the end of the day herrera isnt really world class, i thought he clearly lost to mike dallas.. mike dallas. he knows how to survive, but crawford hammers him for 12 one sided rounds.
garcia is a 50/50 fight imo. garcia is strong, powerful, fundamentally sound and has excellent timing. i can see him not only soak up TC's punishment but have the skills to clip him with a big shot. his timing is key. crawfords jab and movement could very well keep him off balance and on the heels of those heavy feet for the entire 12 rounds though. like i said, 50/50. if i had to pick i would favor crawford slightly.
peterson has a good chance imo. he is so well rounded, like crawford. his size and strength is underrated, he isnt a one punch kind of guy but has heavy wear you down kind of power in both hands and commits to the body for the entire 12 rounds. he is very hard to outbox, what he struggles with is when guys can overpower him which im doubtful crawford could. whenever thats the case peterson is very good at using his boxing skills to control the ring, distance and pace then hammer away with a diverse and technical onslaught. dont get me wrong, i favor crawford as he is the better fighter but i think peterson has a tough style for him and would present a bigger test than most.
the only guy i would pick against him at 140 is pacquiao, mainly because he is a different level than anyone crawford has ever faced. i think crawford has it in him to beat pacquiao potential wise but he has to step his game up another notch. at the very least he definitely needs to get his feet wet at 140 before going after pac man. right now i dont see him handling the speed, power and angles of pacquiao, not yet.
edit: i think he knocks broner out, in fact im all but certain. i do want to see that fight though, not like most because they dislike broner but because i think it would be a phenomenal fight while it lasted. instant FOTY contender.

I have to see how he fares against someone as fast as he is and his own size (Broner). He can take a shot so he should be top 3 at that class soon as he takes a step there.
I think ill reserve judgement until I see him fight at 140
I don't see how a win over Beltran, at 135, justifies such a conclusion (beats anyone at 140/135)
I don't add much weight onto the Gamboa win either. Gamboa looks small even at 130, never mind 135. He was a KO waiting to happen at that weight, but he had some significant success early on despite this. I think this has more to do with that talent that Gamboa has rather than a hit on Crawford.
The Boxingscene lineage is a joke in my eyes. It agrees with the disgraceful Vasquez-Bey decision, or at least see its close enough to be applicable. I won't pretend the NSB lineage section is anything other than the writers hobby though.
Crawford has looked pretty good though. How much this has to do with his level of (or state of) opposition has yet to be seen

Crawford didn't even beat the top guys at 135: Vasquez and Abril. Beltran was getting overrated and I don't know how he got his #2 ranking. Crawford beat an undersized Gamboa and... Ray Beltran and now he's the lightweight king?
He loses to: Pac, postol (in a close fight) and matthysse.
He beats DG, Broner etc.
Herrera would be a good fight.
In about 3 years time we could Loma-Crawford at 140 that would be a mouth watering fixture. Especially if both fighters maintain solid streaks.
Crawford would beat most of the guys at 140 based on the current landscape. I'd like to see him pick Broner apart personally. That would be a great fight and a comprehensive clinic put on by Crawford that may finally humble "lil bro".
I like him.... Crowning him a little too quick
No ones crowning him. He's just a bad style match up for almost every 140 fighter, except maybe Pacquiao.
I gotta admit I haven't seen much of Crawford but I gotta check out this fight with beltran to see what's up. The Gamboa fight to me was like a win with an asterisk
... Gamboa too small... Way too small...
No just no its only going take a brawler with pwr that can cut the ring off to beat crawford no special fighter needed to beat him
It always takes a "brawler with power" to beat a boxer. Then what happens? The boxer turns his ass every time they come close, and gets pot shotted to death. Why don't you think Beltran didn't go at him non stop? You think TC's throwing love taps?
Beltran would've been stopped if he charged at him like a bull.
Brawlers are successful when they brawl with mid tier, and good fighters. They get tagged all night, and confused by the 6th round against boxers.
The only brawler that can beat TC is Lucas, and he's not really a brawler.
A pure brawler is Ruslan. He'd get dominated.
And yes, its gonna take someone special to beat him.
Beltran was landing come forward, moving with your opponent type hooks. Danny doesn't really throw those, and when you land a left hook while moving with your opponent it takes a lot of steam out of the punch.
TC won't allow Danny to plant his feet, and let one off on him like that. Danny is more of the stand still, and wait for you to over commit type left hooker.
I think TC easily beats DG.
Its not inconceivable for him to beat every 140 lb. fighter. The guy can just pot shot his way to wins against anyone, and that even includes Manny. Its not that he's Sugar Ray Leonard, but his style will always be an advantage over most styles from the opening bell.
That being said, its gonna take a special athlete, and skilled fighter to beat him, such as Manny.
