I am sorry but I'm not falling for the hook, line and sinker bullshit that Canelo was trying to do something amazing or was daring to be great. He just underestimated Dmitry Bivol that's all.
if he had any idea or clue that he would lose then he would have never taken this fight in the first place. Canelo took the fight with Bivol in order to avoid David Benavidez.
Also, because he thought that Dmitry would be just another easy fight like all of the rest of the Euro bums he has defeated since 2018.
He just got beat by a better fighter. Saying he underestimated Bivol makes excuses for Canelo and take credit away from Bivol. The flaws he has always had were exposed by a technically sound and very skilled boxer. He was able to get away with it because no one was able to expose them with the exception of Floyd, GGG and Lara (his toughest fights). If there a rematch, it can be at 168 or 175. The outcome will be the same unless the judges pull off what they almost did Saturday night.
I would normally like to write him off as part of a hype train, but he did impress me with his grit in the Donaire fight. It was really exciting to watch and he got hurt bad but stuck it out, even dropping Donaire late. To me, that solidifies his truth and worth as he goes for greatness.
He has the chance to go down as the best fight at the lower division ever. Too me, that title goes to Ricardo Lopez and Chocoltito.
I just wanted to give propz to Clottey for bringing it in last nights fight, and to pullcounter for predicting exactly what was going to happen. I really thought the fight should have been a draw or Clottey should have won by a point. Cotto showed vulnerabilities yet again, which as Kellerman said, would attract other super star fighters to Cotto. Cotto did have a huge cut on his eyebrow, BUT he needs to learn how to fight while being pressured...he also needs to get away from the Garden when fighting a legit opponent....116-111 is just ridiculous. For those that don't like my post...remember I am a fan of boxing first before being a fan of Cotto.

This may be the best post on this fight so far!
After last's night decision, this shows you why the public truly believes (and rightfully so) MMA is gaining on boxing and has a great opportunity to surpass this great sport.. This fight at worst, was a draw or at best a decision or Clotty or Cotto (give or take a point or two). At this point, does anyone believe Cotto beats Mayweather, Mosley for the second time or Pacquiao at a catch weight? Before the nast cut, the way Cotto looked, I just can't see him winning against either but like the saying goes, styles makes fights. I think as nasty as that cut was, Cotto may be out until the end of the year, if not the entire year.
I truly believe that this ididthe one guy that could give Pacman a legimate challenge. Guzman is a strong and quick fighter with a decent punch. He would have to box to have any shot at winning. If he goes in trying to brawl, it will be good while it last, before Pacman puts his lights out!
Whether JMM won or lost aganist Pacman will be one of the most disputed topics of conversation amongst boxing fans. This fact you can't dispute:
1. JMM though he looked good against Jaca, he looked slow and he got hit quite a bit against a far inferior opponet.
2. If Jaca is slower pacman (which he should not be mention in the same breath of pacquiao) why was JMM still having trouble with the straight left hand (which is the money punch of pacman)?
3. All boxing fans know that the straight left is the signature punch of pacquiao and JMM continued to get hit by is throughout this fight and the fight against pacman. This does not look good for a fighter who looks like he is in declining slightly.
4. While JMM has screwed himself out of megafights in the past, he clearly does not look like the same fighter that fought pacman. While pacquiao has gotten much better since that night, he still is not unbeatable. This is why I give Guzman the best chance to beat him.
5. As slow as JMM looked last night, I truly believe he's in trouble againist pacman and barrera.
Hatton will not be able to fight his fight due to PBF defense and speed. With Ricky being a volume puncher he will need to conserve energy to chase Floyd. We have yet to see Hatton in with a guy this fast with better than average power. The Tszyu game plan will not work and Ricky is not a technically sound boxer because he gets hit too much and leaves himself open for big shots. Against a speed guy who is a technically fighter like PFB, his lack of defense and hand speed will lead to his demise. Ricky, consult Jose Luis Castillo (JLC) on how to attack PBF. Then again that might not work either.
PBF by late stoppage or UD no matter where the fight is. Even if the best referee in the world worked the Hatton/Tszyu fight that night, Hatton would have won. He fought the perfect fight by staying on Tszyu, not letting him have space to throw that right hand and eventually wearing him down. I know for everyone one who saw the fight, Hatton left himself open a majority of the night for Tszyu to land big shots and when he would land a shot it had nothing on it because he was worn down by Hatton's aggressivness. Now, against PBF the hardest thing Hatton will have trouble doing is getting a shot on Floyd. Conserving punches will be very important because as many punches as Hatton throws, fatigue will become an even bigger issue against a slick and fundamentally sound boxer like Floyd. If he does leave himself open as often as he does, PBF will end it inside of six because Hatton swells up around the eyes very easily. PBF (along with)"Winky" Wright are the best two fighter in boxing when it comes to defense and ring smarts. This will be the biggest advantage PBF would have over "The Hitman". I can't believe Hatton's trainer said on Sky Sports 1 "we have been looking at Floyd for the past two years and we have the blueprint to beating PBF" and used the Lenard/Duran as his analogy. If I we're the Hatton Camp, my best friend(if this the next fight for either)just became the only to have an unofficial victory against PBF(just the judges did not see it that way in the first fight), Jose Luis Castillo. Hatton does posses the technical skill JLC has, but Ricky is a very fast learner from what I have seen in his last six fights and he can make the adjustments. The one adjustment he will not be able to adjust to is the lighting hand speed of Floyd. PBF/JLC fight was three years ago and since their last fight, Floyd has improved so much that the "so call" experts really don't see PBF losing until he reaches 147 or 154 in which I tend to agree(with exception that I don't believe he can beat Antonio Margarito, I see the same him as I saw in JLC when he and PBF first met, on a bigger version of JLC.)
Floyd vs. Cotto is a bigger event. If Mayweather wants to unify, he should go with the surefire HBO "promoting this as a fight of the year candidate" match.
I like Hatton vs. Maussa and I think Hatton wins by decision.
I agree with the HBO big event, but I can't see this as a FOY. PBF mid to late round stoppage!
PBF's speed will be the only advantage he will have againist Margarito. People underesrimate the fact that Margarito can box, if Floyd doesn't take advantage of Margarito being a traditionally slow starter he will be in serious trouble. Margarito will walk through PBF punches and either win a decision or stop him late. This is also the reason that if Floyd moves up to 147, he should fight Judah. Even though Zab has had a revivial at 147, he still carries the label of being chinny. On the other hand Margarito has a chin (like every Mexican it seems) and knows PBF can't hurt him.
Listen "I watch" you want Floyd getting the fuck out of 140 trust me...your boy Cotto is good and if you look at my posts regarding Cotto you will see I am a fan but he gets smoked by Mayweather...again you want Floyd gone from 140...suggesting that he is scared is stupid, do you treally think Floyd is scared of your boy...which is what you are suggesting in an indirect manner.[/QU
I agree! No one will beat PBF at 140. I mean no one!

Mayweather is not the #1 140 pound fighter. You people make me sick with your biases.
Hatton beat the Champion hence he is Champion. Hatton beat the Champion that knocked Judah out in the second round hence he is Champion.
When did the rule that if you beat the Champion you become Champion become nullifield?
And Judah is basically a paper champion place keeper at 147 in my mind. 147 is one of the weakest divisions in boxing right now. 140 is the best. That is why Judah went to 147 because he knew he could not compete with Likes of Tzyu Hatton Cotto Gatti Mayweather.
Judah may have three belts, but Margarito is the best IMO. So. PBF may be right going after him in this sense.
We have seen what a big shot can do to Zab when he's cocky in the ring and all three fighter (especially DLH & Margarito)can make it a quick night if Judah comes in over confident. With that being said, Zab has shown he has grown up in the sense of becoming a smarter fighter (see the second Spinks fight for clarification). I don't see Zab taking any of the three lightly, but as much as I like Judah, I believe he may need one more fight to really asses his chances againist these three guys. If I had to pick right now, I give him the best chance to beat Mosley and the least chance to beat DLH.
Yeah I'd also be worried if they fought. Joppy might take his only chance and try to headbutt Felixs left hand. Felix would've really bring his a game to avoid all the possible threats like a big asteroid suddenly hitting him or the pope coming back to life again and hitting him with a bloody cross from behind.[/QUOTE
Tito has already koed joppy inside of five rounds. I can't imagine it get any better for joppy.
We know that PBF will fight anyone. If the Judah-Mayweather fight rumors are true, it should be great fight and a big mystery. We all know that Zab's chin will always be in question, but at the same time we have yet to see PBF seriously hurt from a hard shot. We have seen him caught a few times but never seriously hurt. I believe PBF will win via UD with both fighters(especially Judah)potentially tasting the canvas. If not, PBF-Hatton is the fight at 140 everyone wants to see, stop wasting time Ricky, you want the best, make it happen. Hatton had a great fight plan an perfected it against a great fighter in Tsyzu. In order to gain his place boxing he must consistantly fight the best out their. Right now , that is PBF. With the exception of Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins Erik Morales, and Oscar De La Hoya no one has beaten more current or former champions then PBF. Hate it, or love it, the man ducks no one whether they are in their prime or not his credintials speak for them self! What about Hatton?
Floyd would handle either with relative ease IMO. Handspeed, footwork, and defense will be the big differences.
Keep in mind, Tzsyu is much like Hopkins in that he likes to sit back in his little comfort zone and control the pace of the fight. Mayweather doesn't rely on that, which is the reason I don't think Hatton can beat him. He can pressure PBF all night and nothing will come of it but huge compubox numbers for Mayweather.
As far as a shaky chin....Corley may have hurt Mayweather, but no more than he hurt Cotto in their fight. And Cotto got lucky to be fighting in his hometown with a shitty ref.
:boxing:
I agree! Neither have the skill to beat PBF!
