After last's night decision, this shows you why the public truly believes (and rightfully so) MMA is gaining on boxing and has a great opportunity to surpass this great sport.. This fight at worst, was a draw or at best a decision or Clotty or Cotto (give or take a point or two). At this point, does anyone believe Cotto beats Mayweather, Mosley for the second time or Pacquiao at a catch weight? Before the nast cut, the way Cotto looked, I just can't see him winning against either but like the saying goes, styles makes fights. I think as nasty as that cut was, Cotto may be out until the end of the year, if not the entire year.
cotto would stop pacman and beat pbf and did you see mosley in the mayorga fight he was about 10 seconds away from losing and then he beats margarito and suddenly cotto got no chance even though he has already beat him. Also i thought the fight was 115 - 113 cotto because he just outworked clottey in the last 2 rounds.
I'm not convinced either.
Even though I have no problem saying Cotto won, 116-111? Come on.
I have to watch it again and score it, but that 116-111 scorecard was ridiculous. Good fight, though.
116-1111 is bad, but how can people say Cotto couldn't have won by a point? Clottey didn't do anything the last two rounds. Cotto didn't do much more, but we score round by round.
I can't argue someone having Clottey win. Not at all.
But please don't use punch stats. You are using someone elses views as facts. Use your own eyes. A lot of Cotto's punches did get through the gloves. Just because it is partially blocked doesn't mean it's blocked. That's the problem I have with that style of defense and it's why you'll have Winky Wright fights scored all over the board.

Bad for boxing
When you see a fight such as this,a decision this poor is what makes it bad for true boxing fans. There is no way Cotto won that fight, and to see the scores of 116-111, and 115-112, is downright proposterous. I have read many of the posts, and what is not realized is Clottey could have won the final round and still would have lost the fight! So here is the million dollar question. If you ask any non-biased fan, going into the 12th round, that regardless of what happens in the 12th, would you have Cotto winning the fight, after the 11th? In order for these scoes to hold true you would have to answer yes to this question. If this is the case, why did it take so long to get the results of the decision? When you see a delay in the decision, you know something shady is going to happen. The correct scoring of the fight was 114-113, Clottey. How can you mathematically win a fight by 3 and 5 points, when you are out-connected in power punches by 44, and land the same amount of jabs. Also, to make this point even more astounding Cotto landed more body punches, which are often overlooked by the judges. The shots to the head are what is scored so often from a judges point of view, and Clottey dominated in this category. All you have to do is look at the fighters, at the end of the fight. It tells the complete story. True fight fans know Clottey, and understand the money fights are with Cotto and Pac in the future, and a guy like Clottey is just ass out! This is what destoys boxing, because Cotto showed great heart, but the skills portion of the fight was won by Clottey. You can't win a fight with the most heart. Heart simple means you can take a good as whoopin, which is what Cotto got last night. I know there won't be a re-match, and from last nights fight, none of the welterweights, will step into the ring with Clottey. Too much risk, and too little reward! To all of my Cotto fans, I hate to tell you this, but he is damaged goods, at this piont in his career. A fight with Pac, Mosely or Mayweather, will result in a definitive loss. Did anyone see how off balanced and wobbly, he was the entire night? The difference in the last 3 names I mentioned, is they will not get robbed of a decision, because they have major name recognition. My heart goes out to Clottey, and Bob Arum only wants to make one last major payday off Cotto. Whether Margarito hands were wrapped or not against Cotto, we don't know, but what we do know is he's not the same fighter as he was before that fight, and he never will be again!
Of course, he had bigger muscles and everything.
I don't remember my exact score, I think it was something like 72-28
Lots of controversy though, so I might look at the fight photos again and rescore it later.
can we change the decision after photoshop?
Cotto took the first round.......Clottey tooks the next 2........Cotto got rd 4.......Clottey took the fifth........Cotto took the sixth(his BEST round)......Clottey took the next 5 rounds........and Cotto ran and pop-shotted his way to get the 12th........115-113 Clottey or 8 rounds to 4!!!
How did you score calzaghe-hopkins?
Of course dude. If you get owned then you should just hop aboard that failboat, no point making it worse by crying about elbows and plaster and shit like that. You have a weird way of judging fights bro, glad I could help you out.
it's the internets judging devise. so clottey was the winnar then?

no clottey won the fight.....he landed 43 more punches than cotto...how do u loose if u landed more and there was no KO?,....anyway yeah....that was bullsh**
clottey was winning the fight until round 9 onwards, he stopped throwing punchs and virtually gifted cotto rounds 9 thru 12.
A close fight will always be controversial regardless of who the winner is. I had the fight scored 6 rounds for Cotto, 5 for Clottey, 1 even and an extra point for the knockdown for Cotto, giving Cotto a 2 point victory...
Let's be real here... who looked most like a winner in their entrance? Cotto just walked in, Clottey did a little dance.
Clottey = robbed, clearly.
he sacrificed a chicken in the locker room, i guess that would make him a champion right there.
I've heard people do that, Clegg. ****ing weirdos, ain't they?
Personally I always score the fight by who looks owned the most at the end of the fight.
That might be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard Kellerman say. Something like Clottey feels like the winner, and Cotto looks like the loser. No sht Max, he got his head split open early in the fight by a headbutt.
Yeah, that's a good criteria. I also score based upon being flashy. Knockdowns are overrated IMO, if you want a 10-8 round you have to drop your hands, shoulder roll, or at least have a stylish entrance with fireworks and shit like that.
it's a terrible criteria, in this case the only thing that cotto had was the cut, from a headbutt. besides that he was fine. So, would u judge by who look worst with the cuts and swells coming from headbutts, elbows, etc?
no ko but a knockdown from cotto to clottey. also punchstats dont always tell stories in fights cause its like this: u hit me with 40 punches in round 1 and i land 4. then every round after that u land 1 and i land 2 your still going to have the advantage on landed punches but didnt do enough in the rest of the rounds.
its true...i remmember 1 round clottey landed something like 28 or whtever...and cotto landed 7 or so....and there were a few rounds cotto really wasnt throwing anything, he looked so tired..
but i still had him winning by 1 point...wouldnt be suprised if clottey had won or if it was a draw

rriiiiggghhttttt
another thing is THE FACT, that Clottey lost the championship rounds and started acting up. Cotto won the fight, it was very close but he won it because of the KD on the first.
