I just wanted to give propz to Clottey for bringing it in last nights fight, and to pullcounter for predicting exactly what was going to happen. I really thought the fight should have been a draw or Clottey should have won by a point. Cotto showed vulnerabilities yet again, which as Kellerman said, would attract other super star fighters to Cotto. Cotto did have a huge cut on his eyebrow, BUT he needs to learn how to fight while being pressured...he also needs to get away from the Garden when fighting a legit opponent....116-111 is just ridiculous. For those that don't like my post...remember I am a fan of boxing first before being a fan of Cotto.

I concluded a couple of things as to why cotto back off and for one his blood loss and second his vision. he had to be careful because clotty could have counterd him in the corner on his right side, which is the side where he was having trouble seeing. I just think it was a combination of being careful and running out of steam.
He was definitely being cautious, and the blood most likely affected his performance. I would love to see a rematch without head butts to see who would be the victor.
So is 114-113 Cotto(my scorecard)
Is that bias?
D I agree with a lot of what you said...and think it was a very close fight with both men showing true grit...and some dirtyness...but Cotto got those last 2 Chip rounds and pulled it out...IMO
Clottey was game but gased Cotto was there for the taking and Clottey simply didn't have it in him to get it done.
Cotto won a great close fight...against a more then game competitor and a champion in his own right.
Clottey was never going to go down with out a fight...If you expected Miguel Cotto to completely demolish Clottey in 3 rounds....you expectations are a little high.
I think Cotto is getting more of a bashing on this forum then Clottey ever has.
Cotto pulled out a victory from the jaws of defeat and he's getting treated like he raped 8 children.
I scored it for Cotto and I am a Cotto fan obviously....But i maintained my objectiveness through out the fight.
Just because I am a Cotto fan that scored it for Cotto doesn't mean I am a stan...It just means that how I scored it.
Your making it seem like the only true boxing fans are the ones that scored it for Clottey...when obviously it's deeper then that.
You said it was a draw...You honestly can't see 1 point going the other way?
come on dude you know we are cool but bashing Cotto fans for seeing the fight the way the seen it is unnecessary.
O yea Dan Rafael scored it 116-111...
Boom, I'm not bashing Cotto fans. Yes the fight could have gone either way. I just feel that a draw would have been the appropriate decision for this fight. Both showed that they are good fighters, and yes Cotto had a huge gash above his eye which affected him.
I was asking myself the same questions
They both gassed! Cotto had Clottey cornered a few times, but then just backed off. I don't know if it was stamina issues, but he could have finished the fight by KO a few times.

Cotto also had Clottey trapped a few times, and didn't deliver the way everyone thought he would. Don't get me wrong...it was a great fight, but Cotto needs to learn a few things before he can be considered elite or an ATG.
i agree but i think the cut was huge it reminded me of vitaly's cut against lewis and that fight was stopped, cotto could of easily stopped the fight early and won but he continued, there is not a round where cotto is not pawin at his eye and cotto wasn't really gettin pressured or bein forced to back up in the 1st couple rounds of the fight it seemed to be more of him tryin to get away so he could wipe his eye
What differences does it make?
What I would like to know is who on here has a similar scorecard to the 116 - 111 of last night?
What differences does it make for the guy who gave cotto 116-111 or 115-114 he still gave the fight to cotto. Yes It is ridiculous but it does not make or break the fight. I had them tied in the 10th round and eventhough clotty was chasing cotto he did not land anything. out of the last 3 rounds I gave one to clotty, in fact by the 10th i though cotto was going to loose.
Cotto won the fight, 7 rounds to 5. with 2 10-8 rounds
I mean How many rounds did yiu gave Clottey????
LOL.
Noone is more biased on this forum than you are son. And I mean noone.
FWIW I scored the fight for Cotto by a point.

big props to D-omonist for being a fan of boxing first!!
cotto is still a very good boxer and with the right trainer he could become even better. don't give up on him yet.
Good post TS, we need more posters who are objective.
Champ, you are being unfair. I thought Cotto won by a point, and he may have landed the harder punches. But Clottey landed more than him, much of Cotto's punches and combinations were blocked.
Clottey is very underrated! I wish him the best!!!
I am not talking about the scorecard I had it 115-113 for Cotto. I am talking you saying Clottey was more active when that is not true Cotto was by far more active than Clottey in that fight.
Iiight then my nicca! You were right on your first post...we can talk about this for years and it won't change the decision. Let's see if Cotto learns from this fight, and uses those vulnerabilites to attract and then destroy his competition.
Good post TS, we need more posters who are objective.
STFU idiot., Cotto won that fight, period.
landing 3 punches per round doesnt win you a fight, much less when you dont do shit for the last 3 round!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF? Cotto throwed 101 more punches than Clottey dude.
So you think 116 - 111 was right? Just asking...I thought the fight was a draw. I'm not taking anything away from Cotto...he did great with the cut, but he needs to correct some sh!t. Sh!t one of the titles on the newspaper here in Puerto Rico was "We made some mistakes"...Cotto even knows.
We can jabber about this all night for the next 50 years, and Cotto still will have the win. So boohoo if you dont like it, I thought Cotto did better, Clottey everyone knew was a hard opponent to look good against with, Cotto did the job.
Did you forget what Cartel I belong to? I am a Cotto fan, but I don't like it when I see bullsh!t decisions. 116 - 111? No one is crying here...I'm just giving propz to peepz that deserve it. In other words back the fvck off my thread if you don't understand.

You know what I have to give it up to you D, you are fair.
I always try to be fair man! It pisses me off when peepz let there pride take over them. It was a great fight!

I had it 115 112 for Clottey when I rewatched it. Cotto showed great heart dealing with the cut and a man who didn't seem very fazed by his punches. I just think Clottey won enough rnds to pull it out.
It was definitely a close fight!!! Would love a rematch... probably later in his career?
he isn't a credible poster because he is not a nuthugger like you?, he calls it like he sees it. not a biased motherf**ker like u i actually gained a lot of respect for this guy for keeping nationalistic pride aside and judging as a boxing fan. something u 80% of u guys cant do, he comes from the 20 %
It's all coo man, I was expecting some criticism for this post! People really need to take the blinders off, and realize that boxing comes before being a stan.
Cotto won the fight in the last few rds. Clottey was toooo inactive late. And cotto got on his bike as usual the last few rds. Clottey gased, its as simple as that. He couldnt walk the vulnerable man down as he ran the last few rds. But while he was running he would offer a pitty pat flurry then get to running again.
Cotto by a rd or two!
