Former hw champion Vitali Klitschko will be returning to the gym shortly to see if his body can allow him to once again challange for the hw championship of the world. Being named champion Emeritus by the WBC after his retirement, could allow Klitschko to challange for hw title in his first fight back. WBC hw champion Oleg Maskaev is supposed to be making mandatory defense against Sam Peter and Vitalis return will delay Peter from getting his much deserved shot. Much more to follow....
I hope this is for reall this time and no bs, its from boxing talk, so i they are pretty reliable...
I think Vitali has some fight left in him. He showed tons of heart against Lennox. Not to mention he's 6'7'' and a half and 240 pounds. I know he's 38 but I think he has a chance to win a title. I would like to see this.
Just think if Vitali won another title and Lennox came out of retirement to give him a rematch. That would be sweet.
I hope this is BS news, Peter, more than any other hw title challenger out there (Sultan, Austin) deserves his shot because he earned it the hard way.. By winning his eliminator bout in a very convincingly manner.
Besides, If Vitali were to come back then I'm sure he'd take longer to get ready than would Peter. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Vitali were to cause 'delays' to a possible fight with Maskaev like what happened with the Rock.
The last line was sarcastic....the first part is honest. Vitali has no reason to run from Peter. He took Lewis's best shot and Lewis, IMO, hits harder than Peter....and Lewis was far more skilled.
Vitali wouldn't "run" from Peter IMO. He never has run from anyone that I'm aware of and has knocked out the vast number of his opponents, so him running away from a man who's relatively easy to hit makes no sense.
youre confusing him cause he said vitali would "ruin" peter, not "run" from him
Vitali could beat any of the heavyweights and easily, but he doesn't have the heart to remain champion for years. As good as the guy is and as much as we want a stable, unified champion, Vitali is not the guy mentally.
idk if your being sarcastic their your post was pretty confusin

Oh wait I've heard this one before. It was funny the first time I heard he was going to keep fighting way back in April 2005. I know how the rest of it goes. Injury, injury, injury, retire, wait til someone weak has a belt and come back. :tapedshut
This actually seriously pisses me off. Vitali has always picked his challengers too carefully. Both of his last two fights before retirement were against mediocre journeymen who had one big victory so the public was fooled into taking them for legitimate challengers. I am talking about Corrie Sanders and Danny Williams. Now that the WBC title is being held by another mediocre journeyman coming off a big win, he is all of a sudden ready to come out of retirement. Everyone wants a shot at Maskaev right now. He has recent early round knockout losses to Kirk Johnson, Lance Whitaker, and Corey Sanders (the 300 lb whale who did the recent exhibition match with Mike Tyson). He had Hasim Rahman's number, but there are about 15 heavyweights even in today's heavyweight division who could beat him. This guy even inspired Bernard Hopkins to consider going up to heavyweight to beat him and then get to call himself a heavyweight champion. All of a sudden this guy gets a title, and here's Vitali!
Peter's camp had better protest the hell out of this, because once Vitali beats Maskaev he sure as hell won't be giving Peter a shot at the title. No way. He'll probably issue another challenge to Mike Tyson or maybe the latest one win wonder will have come up by that time. I could definately see Vital Klitschko versus Evander Holyfield happening.
i think v klitschko would totally ruin peter in about 9 rounds
Why? He's never run from anyone else to my knowledge and he's technically a better fighter than Peter, who's pretty easy to hit.
Not to mention, he doesn't have the legs for running from Peter. :D
Did anyone every REALLY doubt that he would be back?
He blew out the knee and the type of injury that he sustained takes a minimum of 12 months rehab. He didn't want to seem like he was inactive for over a year so he said he would retire.
This way when he made him "Comeback" it would be a bigger draw. The man has a lot of gas left in the tank.
I think Peter should get his shot against Maskaev and if Vitali comes back, he should look for a warm-up fight before jumping in the ring against one of the top fighters. If Vitali can get a warm-up in by late April/early May and Peter gets his shot against Maskaev in April, then Vitali can look towards October for a fight against Peter/Maskaev.
nick saban said he wasnt gonna take the alabama coaching job at least 30 times.. on ESPN, ABC, NBC, CBS
vitali just isnt interested in the attention those 'rumors' create, i dont put a whole lot of stock into his actual denials...
Vitali is not Nick Saban
hey man im not putting words in your mouth or anything like that im simply pointing out that by todays standards for a title challenger vitali is more than qualified....
also, imo, the health of the heavyweight division would improve greatly if vitali had control of the WBC belt... more money, more big matchups, more knockouts..... with klitschkos in control of half the division the don king guys will have to come out hiding sooner than later,
Don't get your panties in a wad. I'm just saying he doesn't deserve to move to the front of the line. If he wants back in the mix, okay; but not at the expense of the #1 contender. Let him take on the winner....and the cure for the heavyweight division is unification, not Vitali with an alphabelt. Sure, he'd add some interest to the division by returning; but the WBC belt doestn' mean anything.
Sorry guys, the rumors are just rumors. Vitali's not coming back. He said so himelf on the Klitschko's official website about a month ago.

Did I say those mo-fo's deserved a shot?
Austin and Ibragimov fought each other, so they're exempt. Anyway, just because this aspect of modern boxing sucks ass and had been done over and over again doesn't mean we shoud just cowtow to it and accept it as the norm. Nothing will ever change as long as we sit idly by.

Now, THAT makes sense. Thank you.
