Not sold on that. Who has he been beating up? If he opens up like that against a quicker guy, he's in trouble. Definitely being coached well to finish a guy. But you're not going to finish a GGG or Pacquiao or Floyd. And as soon as he gets into that combination, he'll get rocked.
I'll go out on a limb here but, Pacquiao that fought Mayweather is a KO waiting to happen from any top WW these days.
If he were to fight Cotto, say at 154 right now, he would be obliterated.
A 145 CW Cotto busted his eardrum. A Cotto that pretty much trained himself, and at a time when Pac was this unstoppable dynamo. Now? He barely fights in spurts, he can't dance on his feet and be across the ring after hitting guys with shots from angles they can't see coming. Cotto would destroy him.
36 yr old Pacquiao is no longer a threat to any of the top names. He's done.
Everything ends, like Cotto's run eventually....
It's a mega fight, not a super fight here in the states. However, it's a super fight for Latinos. Wouldn't surprise me if over 50 million people watch the fight.
Consider people outside the boundaries of the 48 on the mainland...
Nah...
You know how tiring it gets explaining to people that as a PR we don't need a passport to travel to the US?
They don't know their own history, much less the relevance and accomplishments of other people.
What were Ali,SRR,Sugar Ray Leonard,Greb,Armstrong,Joe Louis,Duran,Hearns,Hagler doing at 37??? they sure in hell were not winning titles and on top of the sport
SRR vs Carmen Basilio for the MW title (in both fights) was when SRR was in his late thirties.
Fail on this one.
It's definitely a fight I think PW could win a really close decision by outhustling Tito. Getting off first and tying him up would go a long ways towards frustrating Tito. The long reach does come into play; (btw when PW used his reach properly and kept Quintana on the end of his shots he ended it in 1 round.) but Tito was really aggressive and relentless at 147. However, a stiff jab and straight along with plenty of angle and holding when in close could get PW the win. His chin could hold up as Tito wasn't kayoing world class fighters with 1 punch. The question was could he & I think PW could...:boxing:
Tito is levels above Pwill. Get real people.
You know what, why don't we all just agree every welterweight out there is better than Cotto and he's a bum, he obviously lost to that other bum Margarito.
Guy loses once to the human typhoon and he's no longer a threat to anyone...:ugh1:
I just notice how in fantasy match-ups the boxer from the past seems to always get the nod.
We're beginning to over hype the past fighters and underrate our current (or recent) ones...
I'd root for Tito, though I know either of them could win.
Not a single Puertorican on the list. Hmm..
I don't know, I feel some of the older guys there are overrated because they fought so much and so long ago...
Look at my past posts. I have always had love for Cintron. I wanted Margs to beat him, but I have always like Cintron. I think he just ran into the wrong fighter. I think he beats Berto, Judah, Clottey, and MAYBE Cotto. I think he has the skill set to beat Cotto, plus a mean right hand, and uppercut. Cotto is ALWAYS open for the upper. Pick'em. I would really like to see him vs. PW. I think that would be a great fight. He has a decent chance to beat him. The only one I dont favor him against is Margs.
I don't favor anybody against the Termi.. I mean, Marg's right now.
I can see Margs winning 2/3 fights with someone like Cotto, other than that, the rest will ge pounded. I'm waiting for PW to get in the ring again and fight a totally different fighter. He barely got by an unfocused Marg and survived on his size alone...
All my measly points on Margo if P. Williams grows a sack and fights THE Tornado again. He beat my guy, and now I'm a fan of both. Williams has no chance if Margo pressures him like he did Cotto, in fact I think he KO's him earlier than it took him to finish Cotto.
Mi pana sin algun tipo de evidencia no sirve el argumento. Nos duele la caida de Cotto, pero hacer este tipo de alegación le quita mérito a nuestro campeon.
Gracias papito, I knew you weren't a bad guy, just a lil' bit loud and proud about your country but you seem like a good fella.
We all are dude, but at the end of they day we can rally behind a common hero, and i guarantee that if Margo rematches PWill I'll be rooting for the granite chinned bastage to destroy him.
:boxing:
Guys, as a Cotto fan, and Puertorican, I concede defeat. Margo is a beast, I can still say cotto is the better boxer by far, Margo is just too resilient. It's his style and no one can take that way from him, he was the better man that night.
Remember, Cotto had his family and kids there, I'm sure what must be going through his head, go down fighting or fight another day, getting KO'd in front of your kids is not a nice thought...
Use your brains people. They gave their all, now give each of them their due. Kudos to Margarito. He deserves the respect.
It's sad to see he's basically written off Cotto. Cotto should definitely just go Golden Boy and move on. Get another trainer as well...
Marg made sure the status quo needed some shuffling. He needs new input, new scenarios etc to keep his career on track.
I don't think Mayorga is the same fighter he once was, I think Magrarito would walk him down and knock Mayorga out late but it would be a very good fight.
Guy could still bang though..... Power leaves last and Margarito tests people... I don't know...
If you agree that he has drawing Power, Who is he drawing to the fights...?
who is paying for his fights..?
Floyd Mayweather is the most "Notorious" fighter in the game... He is without a doubt the most “Famous”His "Fame" is second to only Oscar among Active Fighters
He is the most "Revered" boxer in the game... Floyd will never be the most Popular (loved) fighter right now because he has chosen to take the bad guy road... it doesn't meaned he isn't popular but he is more Notorious right now rather than Popular.
And the Common denominator between a fighter who's draw steams from Popularity or Being Notorious.
Is that They have People Supporting them. in the same way.
Money and Attendance...
And Mayweather Supporters bring Both.
By your Logic Ali didn't have a fan base early in his career either..
because he was not beloved, instead he was revered..
(Ali didnt become beloved until he dodge the war) remember that.
Some of the most "Famous and successful" people history has ever known
Have been more "Notorious" than Popular... or Have been "Notorious" before they became "Popular"
Al Capone
2pac
Biggie
Ali
Malcolm X
Kobe Bryant
Terrell Owens
Deion Sanders
Britney Spears
Charles Barkley
Scarface (Tony Montana)
The list goes on....
Stop it with the multi-font-color coded crap. What is this, pre-school? Damn. Gives me a fucking headache. :grumpy:
Apart from that, stop slobbering over Floyd's knob. It's disgusting. :slap:
Loco,
Cotto is doing what every other great PR boxer has done with the exception of Tito and I. Calderon etc, succumb to the booze binges. Sad but true... we may never know how really great they could have been because of this.
I didnt know being a tall skeleton makes you some kind of HUGE beast.
Since the second CQ fight he hasn't looked like a tall skeleton to me.
But hey, that's just my observation.
That rabbit punch was all an act and was accidental and Clottey was holding onto his arm for dear life. I'm not even a Cotto fan, I'm just getting tired of all this bull shit. He lost the fight...fight Berto, Williams...somebody and he'll get another shot.
I think Clottey should go after Berto. Either that or take on a Carlos Quintana and beat some names to get to the top again.
He has options:
Collazo
Quintana
Margarito
Pwill
all those are decent names.. he can be champ again.
How sure are you he's going to kill Margs?? See both sides are thinking differently. HBO, I'm sure knows of this........they will make the fight. lol
Currently I give my boy Cotto a 30% chance of UD Margo, 0% of knocking him out.
I just don't feel he's back to normal just yet. He needs a new trainer and someone to make him push forward, he won't win backing up.
yeah, you gotta give cotto credit for fighting tough opponents, but he looks really beatable.
he's not invincible like you ricans keep trying to tell us he is.
I don't watch his fights because he's some ****ing Goku in there, he has a knack for getting on the verge of defeat and pulling through. That's what makes him compelling.
No one else in the division is facing the top ranked welters.
Cotto has fought:
Quintana
Mosley
Judah
Margarito
Clottey
Look at Berto playing with JWW's, the guy is a joke...
I don't know man, I see williams as a Jr MW or MW now. He's just a damn tall guy, rangy, and with serious stamina. He can campaign at WW, but what does it prove? That a big skilled guy beats little skilled guys? It's better for him legacy wise to take car of guys similar in size and challenge those who have advantages over him. The money will come.
I didn't see any elite fighters in that ring last night.
If that's what you call elite, you should raise the bar...a lot.
You'd think Clottey was the champ if you didn't know better.
The douche radar is bleeping...
Clottey.
That fight would have been a clear draw with the exception of the 1st round knockdown. I wasn't convinced of the win by Cotto, but was content with the SD, as it showed that the fight could have gone either way.
Mosley got outboxed clearly.
