You fools that are saying that Cotto gave up should be shot or punched in the face. Im sure that those of you who are claiming this have never stepped into the ring. The man deserves respect. He fought like a man. He was outclassing Margarito, until Margarito's relentless pressure and Cotto's fading stamina changed the outcome. Its amazing that you fools cannot recognize heart, and a responsible corner. You assholes turn a GREAT fight into "he quit", "he was overrated" or "he is ruined"... WTF??
Step into the squared circle and fight sometime, it might give you a more realistic appreciation for the sport.

Judah.
0:50. Just the glove.
the video dosent show the fact that zab has his foot on top of floyds.....
he got hit...than was gonna back up and zab had his foot on top of floyds throwing him off balance you gotta get a better clip....
had to edit i watched further in i saw it .... my bads.........
Judah.

I was talking about the Hernandez fight.
oops my bad, I highlighted the wrong part.
FMJ took a knee when he injured his hand.
And the zab knock down was more of a off balance scenario........
but this argument dosent make sense.........
mayweather has never been punished he's been too good to take a beating like cotto did.....
nor has mayweather ever really been under duress .......
the question is if he ever was what would he do....
but that aint gonna happen.........
cotto diffrent situation got punished too much tried to buy time than got slapped again and said ok enough.....
voy a cagarme en los pantalones si sigo.........
adios........
and as pac man would say........
thank you come again.........
Youre right, much different, and my original point was that taking a knee doesnt mean that the fighter has quit as dios dominicano indicated.

If I remember, he bent over and put his glove to the canvas vs famoso. He broke his hand in that fight.
The closest PBF came to a Kd was when Zab knocked him off balance and his glove touched the canvas. That should have been ruled a KD, but the ref was on the other side.
and took a knee.
Ok so mayweather never took a knee...but mayweather never gets hit so it would be pointless to take a knee......
you dont know what a fighter will do until he's at that moment.....
i think cotto in his situation played it smart took a knee took a break and got back up....marg came on again cotto took a knee and said thats all folks......
if mayweather were to ever be in that position would he fight on or do the same...we'll never know cause he dont get hit....lol....
espcially now that he's retired....;)
Well he did take a knee but it was not because of punches...but an injury. When he fought Carlos Hernandez, he took a knee cant remember what round.

Mr. Professional Boxer, you do not know the sport.
In what "close fight" did PBF take a knee? Your dumbfuckery is just bursting at the seams now.
BTW, please send me tickets for your next big c hampionship bout. i'd appreciate that.
I'll be glad to invite you to one of my fights. Where do you live?
Cotto let down some people who were dyin to see him beat Tony and made them look dumb for huggin, so they're turnin on him. It ain't right but it ain't the first time it's happened. I remember the same 'exposed', 'overrated', 'bum' shit bein said about P-Will when he lost to Carlos the 1st time.
I agree with everything you said, accept Margarito did ruin him. You cant go through a fight like that and be the same
How do you know until you see Cotto fight again? Just like Margarito ruined Paul Williams I know.
.....................
I think cotto did the right thing.......
he couldnt give anymore it was over......
plus the rest may have helped him after the first kneel down smart tactic he tried and had to take a second kneel down than it was over.....
old school boxers were great at clinching that would give them the time to recover....
cotto was in damage control and did the right thing...
but after not being able to sustain marg's second onslaught after the first kneel down it was a good a time as ever to concede victory....
sometimes you win sometimes you lose.........
Nope, i have never fought professionally.
I also know that taking two knees and thereby giving a 10-7 round in a close fight that i can only win by decision is essentially conceding the fight.
So, if you are some great professional champion...good for you. Congrats. You are still here on the same board as me. TALKING boxing.
This explains your misunderstanding of "taking a knee". It is a boxing basic. If your legs are not under you and you have a fighter coming at you at full force, the responsible thing to do is take a knee.... this does not mean that you quit.
You my friend are clueless. Learn about boxing then scrutinize.
FMJ took a knee in a close fight, do you remember that? was he quiting?
marg did to Cotto's face what Cotto did to malignaggi.
paulie didn't quit.
malignaggi could also has better stamina and better legs. cotto was never walked down like that. cotto was forced to fight a fight he is not used too so there for he got tired and he was also getting hit with some bombs. cotto prolly underestimated marg's power. paulie also went down how many times so there for atleast had sometime to regroup. cotto fought with will and determination and just couldnt do it anymore. he took a knee to just lessen the damage. he knew he was beat and he knew another punch or two could have seriously hurt him. he is still young and has a career ahead of him. now he knows he is beatable.
Guys, as a Cotto fan, and Puertorican, I concede defeat. Margo is a beast, I can still say cotto is the better boxer by far, Margo is just too resilient. It's his style and no one can take that way from him, he was the better man that night.
Remember, Cotto had his family and kids there, I'm sure what must be going through his head, go down fighting or fight another day, getting KO'd in front of your kids is not a nice thought...
Use your brains people. They gave their all, now give each of them their due. Kudos to Margarito. He deserves the respect.
When you take a knee because you don't WANT to get hit - not because you WERE hit - what is that called?
Its called taking a knee.
This question shows you have never fought a round in your life. He had no legs, the alternative was getting hit while he was hurt. Its called boxing basics buddy.
That was a particular part of boxing perhaps......
some might say boxing is hit and dont be hit.........
most like bar room brawls not boxing.......
i love the boxing fight just as much as a brawl but i just dont understand why people say cotto quit. so what he took a knee. any other fighter would have done that. if not than they would have been walking around looking like ali and talking like frazier. he was just beat down. marg was the better fighter.
