If Margarito can take Cotto's jab away he has a excellent chance of winning. If Cotto's jab is as effective as it was against Gomez, Mosley and Judah, Margarito will have some big problems. If he can take Cotto's jab away he may be able to force Cotto to brawl and then he may be able to take advatge of Cotto's Chin ala Cotto vs. Torres.
I agree that Floyd should either fight the winner of Cotto and Margarito after DLH or should quit claiming to be P4P #1. Still the idea that he's scared to fight a welterweight is a bit flawed. If he's so scared to fight a welterweight then why did he fight a much larger Junior Middleweight with arguably better boxing skills than either Cotto or Margarito?I can see both sides of the argument but I doubt Floyd is "scared" of any of the current welterweights.
So far that is the best RJJ highlight I have seen and even made me somewhat like the song picked which is surprising considering how much I hate DMX.By all means keep going.
Err.
Why does Floyd get so much flak for fighting De La Hoya.
I would venture De La Hoya to be favored against
any welterweight other than Cotto. That leaves me to wonder the logic in some peoples arguments.
The first fight was awesome; hopefully this one will be great also. Pascal is always fun to watch he is so skilled yet so technically flawed it makes for a good show. Hopefully a network picks this up as I can't get ESPN360(**** You Time Warner).
As bad as Valero's punches look he does have the power to one hit quit people at any time so against anyone he has a puncher's chance in my book. If a good trainer would tune him up he would be a pretty good LW.
Kessler has a point about the head butts, getting 5 of them is ridiculous. In all honesty though do you think they made that big of an impact on the final result of the fight? Ward tore Kessler to shreds before the head butts even took place and I don't see any reason why he would have done any better if he hadn't been head butted. Kessler didn't seem prepared for the fight. Also you can say that Kessler should return the favor with the dirty tactics but I can bet that Kessler gets warned/points deducted if he tries since in Oakland Ward will be protected like the president.
Up, he fought the worst match up possible for him and still won. There aren’t many slick southpaws like Martinez with the stamina and heart to handle Williams. Quintana was a horrible match up for Williams and Martinez is a Harder/Better/Faster/Stronger Quintana yet Williams still pulled through. Both fighters stock should rise after the classic they just gave us.
And after he beat Corley he went on to fight another southpaw in Zab Judah.
And Sharmba Mitchell but the point is Sr. doesn't like him fighting southpaws, plus Judah keeps his right hand so low he loses a big advantage of being left-handed. Mayweather Sr. knows that Floyd can't utilize his shoulder roll very well against southpaws unless it’s in a close range situation and so he doesn't like him fighting them.
Pacquiao is a southpaw he doesn't need to worry about Mayweather's jab's... His main worry should be that he is a sucker for the straight right and Floyd's Sunday punch is his straight right. If JMM can time PacMan and give him problems by almost entirely relying on the right than what would Floyd do? Still PacMan could very easily outwork Floyd if Floyd tries to potshot PacMan and Floyd’s shoulder roll is useless against southpaws for the most part so his defense will be inhibited. Ah what a great fight this would be...
During the Mayweather - Corley broadcast Merchant claims that Mayweather Sr. who was at the time in jail called Maywether Jr.'s handlers and said to never put him in with a southpaw again. Take what you want from it.
Cotto is a converted lefty so his right hand is not very strong that leaves him at a large disadvantage against a southpaw. Roach and Pacman fought a good fight to take the left hook away and win the fight
PacMan has serious cajones if he takes this fight… Clottey has a granite chin, very tight defense and an excellent left hook to the body. Would be an excellent fight much better than watching him annihilate Jaegerbomb Paulie in a few rounds
Exposed? Name another slick counterpunching southpaw like Martinez(He already fought Quintana twice). How is it exposed when you beat the top fighter in his division? How in the high hell is it getting exposed when you beat a guy whose only loss is to a cheater??? Paul Williams just proved yesterday that he can take a punch and can adapt. If anything was exposed in this thread it's the OP's lack of intelligence.
I had it 114 - 114 but I could see it going either way by razor thin decision. PWill was out boxed through most of the fight he simply outworked Sergio to win rounds. I'd love to see a rematch and see if PWill would have more time to practice his defense against lead right hooks since it seemed like he had a lot trouble seeing them coming through the first six rounds and see if Sergio Martinez tries to hold more to pace the fight to allow him to effectively counter without being swamped with punches again.
Cotto locates Khan's chin a few too many times and KO's him.
I don't think Cotto is done, he lost to a cheater, had a war with the best true welterweight in the division(Clottey) and a horrible match up in the southpaw Pacquaio(Because his straight right hand is not very good).
mt102879 just uploaded this fight in great quality with ring entrances and post fight interviews on megauplaod. If you want to watch it again download his cap it's really good. Anyone who hasn't seen the fight take a time out bantering about Mayweather-Pacquaio ducking and being exposed and watch the FOTY.

Awesome video, the best boxing highlight video I have ever seen. The music choices were very tasteful and the highlights were done perfect. Do some more.
When are people going to stop talking about this hype job? When he gets put to sleep again?
You can't run away from punches forever. Even defensively brilliant fighters, like Floyd Mayweather, get cracked with a hard shot every once in a while. Amir Khan is no Floyd Mayweather.
Do we really have to see this guy lying face down on the canvas again before the hype stops?
Come on people, get a grip! :argue:
Roy Jones Jr. ran away from punches for a long time, long enough in fact for people to consider him an ATG.
Funny it did for me too; I wouldn’t mind seeing two crafty southpaws in Martinez and Quintana scrap it up talk about a chess match.
Peace.
Hey look what we have here a boxing fan, a guy who doesn't mind watching two fighters who defend themselves quite well and prefer to use there wits and awkward styles to make up for their physical shortcomings. This division is too stacked with young talent to not have good fights take place in the future.
lebron is a super heavy weight he lands one combo on pavlik hes dead literally
Most people who haven't boxed can't even throw a single punch with any real force behind it let alone a combination. Now the chances of said man landing his "punch" in a boxing ring are so small that I'd say he has next to no chance.
He's painful to watch cause he so much better than his opponents. If he wanted to he could have put Chagaev to sleep at will, but why take the risk when he has a glass chin? Until someone forces Wlad to do something other than jab-jab-hold he will keep tearing inferior opponents to pieces. What they need to do is find a heavyweight who can bang and isn’t afraid to sell out going after his chin. His recent opponents refused to sell out and suffered the same fate.
