Pacquiaos chin is outstanding.
Its crazy, when Pacquiao throws those crazy fast 10 punch combos he leaves hes chin wide open I was sure Cotto was going to drop him sooner or later, but Pacquiao took all hes shots and smiled while doing so.
how do you know? It was never even tested. Pathetic Cotto barely landed anything on it. Pac was too quick.
on the contrary, manny's chin was actually tested a number of times in this fight. cotto was quite accurate with his punches in the first half of the fight. pac was hit flush in various exchanges but didn't budge and kept on moving forward. that's how good his chin was.
try watching the fight again..
brah have you seen pacquiao's face in the post fight conference?
dude's a wreck. he has a bandage wrapped around his ear & his face was all messed up.
If Pac's face is considered "messed uP" Cotto's is deformed.
YOu obviously don't train because it doesn't take much to separate the cartilage in the ear to cause a cauliflower.
Thats true that those took confidence away from Cotto. But its also true that Pac did take damage from those shots. Anytime someone's head snaps the brain takes damage, period. Cotto just didn't have enough.
oh yea pac definitely felt the power and took damage. pac's ear by the end of the fight shows the evidence of what kind of power pac was taking in. at the post fight conference, pac said he was hurt but he didn't show it.
I think Pacquiao did say he got hurt in the fight when he backed up to the ropes, he just tried to play it off like it didn't hurt, he said it during the press conference. His chin is still very good though.
manny always does that saying his opponent is strong that he was hurt etc thats respect by the man, hes never known to thrash talk or disrespect his foe especially after a win. but im not saying he was not hurt, he was but to admit them really make him a class act.
its not the real deal "Clottey body defense"
but this was close enough

His defense was really good in the fight, kept his hands up, picking off shots with his arms and gloves etc., he didn't rely too much on his reflexes and speed.
that was shocking to me, too. cotto was landing beautiful head snapping jabs and he landed a few strong left hooks but pac took them. i think seeing pac taking cotto's punches really messed with his confidence in the fight.

In the early rounds when Cotto was landing punches, Manny's head would snap back alot or he would get pushed to the side. Anyone who's sparred a bigger man knows that kind of power punching does cause some damage. It may not be stinging pain damage, but its more of a trauma when your head is getting snapped and push around from heavy blows. But Pac's other tools let him overcome that power.

Pacquiaos chin is outstanding.
edit: I mean wrong to title, not the post above.
Wrong. Pacquiao had tremendous respect for Cotto's power in the early going. Cotto is still a hard puncher and a flush shot from a fresh Cotto would definitely hurt Pacquiao. Pacquiao was actually taking some damge from Cotto's shots that weren't even landing flush. But once Cotto started to accumulate damge, his power dropped off especially as he was hitting Paquiao while backing up. I'm not saying Pac's chin is nothing extraordinary. He did take some flush shots and walked right through them. But its different from taking a punch from a who is in retreat mode. Cotto had maybe 50-60% of the power he would have if he were the one winning the fight.
in round 4 manny was on the ropes, but wasn't in trouble. he was egging cotto to keep punching him. lampley thought he was in trouble, but steward noted that he wasn't getting hurt and just taking a breather. you can see manny slap his gloves together asking for more. i was so f@cking impressed by his resilliance
manny only got caught clean a few times u can thank his trainers for failing him 8 weeks ago when training camp started. cotto wears people down....
a wolverine, I say :boxing:
Pacquiaos chin is outstanding.
This was what made the difference in the fight, I knew Cotto would hit him what surprised me is that Manny took them so well.
Actually, Pacquiao was hit by a couple of solid jabs...I even saw an uppercut once....Pacquiao's chin is underrated...
Pac took very solid hooks, uppercuts, and jabs.
Walked through them all.
And then laid on the ropes and took body shots just to prove a point.
**** man...that dude is a wolverine.
