People will just say that the guy who lost could still beat Floyd. We've seen this happen before. The most recent example is those who said they still pick Margarito to beat Quintana after Quintana beat Williams.
Say Cotto wins and Floyd beats Cotto, they will say that since he is smaller than Tony and throws less he was easier for Floyd to beat, but he could not handle Margarito's size and pressure. If Tony wins and Floyd beats him, they would say that since Cotto has a more controlled attack and better overall skills he would beat Floyd. In both cases, their justification would be "styles makes fights"
People picked Baldomir to beat him because he was bigger, but when he lost he was a slow journeyman who never had a chance. They picked Oscar to beat him because he was bigger and had good skills, but after he lost he was over the hill , and they picked Hatton to beat him because of his relentless pressure, but after he lost, he was undersized. When someone HATES and is biased against a fighter, they will find ANY reason imaginable to put him down. And THAT is "plain and basic common sense"
That's bullschit. If Floyd beats either Margarito or Cotto, it massively builds up his legacy. These are the kinds of fights that are missing from Floyds resume. Imagine Ali without Frazier or Foreman. Or Sugar Ray Leonard without Duran or Hagler. It's where the boxer takes on the puncher/boxer that can hurt him, where his status gets legitimized. He beats the winner of Cotto/Margarito. THEN he'll get all the damned credit.
That's bullshit and you know it Tito Yuca.. Mayweather doesn't get credit as of recently because he hasn't fought the best quality opposition and that is the end of that. It's not because of hate.. it is not because of anything else other then he put himself into this position he is in. You cant tell me Gatti, Bruseles, Mitchell and Baldo were the greatest fucking fighters he could fight.. that's straight up bullshit.
Anyway, here is a bottle :bottle: go cry yourself a river somewhere else.
wow again with this shit. no one was lookin for Baldomir vs. Floyd, people werent asking for Mayweather/DLH, people werent asking for Mayweather/Hatton like they are asking for Cotto/Mayweather.
why do you guys insist in saying that people were picking those fighters to beat Floyd? Where are they? where are the odds?
what the FUCK does the opinion of a SMALL group of people matter?
dude you weren't even a MEMBER here back during those fights. tons of people said Baldomir was too big. they said it would be a close fight. also, half the board picked Oscar to knock Floyd out so whatever the fuck you're talking about man

Co-sign. If Floyd fights the Cotto-Marg winner and beats him decisively, people will say Floyd is the rightful WW champion and he has a right to talk all the shit he wants. At least that's what I'd say.
thank you for ignoring my point.
Well "those people" do not "matter", but neither do the ones who give him credit when you think about it. Whether Floyd was considered the worst or the best ever I'd still watch his fights and enjoy them. The difference is that as fans of the sport, we like to engage in conversation about it, and when people like the ones I mention refuse to give credit where it's due, it tends to bother us rational folks a bit. But I agree, they should not matter as much as they do, and some people go way too crazy when others don't share their opinions.
Mayweather would alway win in a fight poll, I would love to see the % of a Mayweather/Cotto poll that has been posted in the past just to compare it to the Hatton one.
Are you this thickheaded or do you just pretend to be? Did I not say that Floyd was the favorite? You STILL keep missing my point, which is that when someone is biased against a fighter, they will refuse to give him credit under ANY circumstances. This has nothing to do with the amount of people that picked against him, but about what those people say.
thank you for ignoring my point.
my point is, what do those people matter?
if you had a large group of people doubting floyd, then that would be substantial. Are polygamists' opinions on how society should behave substantial? of course not because they are minute.
You're making this thread trying to make it seem like Floyd has been the underdog for his entire career. And I dont need to be a long time member to see through this bull shit. the threads are still here.

do you really talk boxing the way you do..........???????
you mean with educated common sense? thats how i go about all aspects of my life. i suck off no man. i know thats something you cant say yourself. i know cotto's weaknesses. i dont think he is the best fighter in the sport above Pacquiao, Mayweather, or even Calzaghe. all i want is for the fight to happen.
you mean this is a boxingscene poll?????........lol......snicker............what was cotto-gomez?
cotto 100%
gomez -2000
thing is no one is claiming other wise, but what i CAN tell you is that Juda/Cotto was ALMOST even and Cotto/Mosley had Mosley favored.
EDIT: Actually, the people who WERE picking Gomez over Cotto were actually fans of Floyd.
yeah, great opinion.......you showed true intelligence..........but when i saw you spell underwear............i see why your post should be trashed........and your opinion snatched and flushed down the toilet on this subject..........
do you really talk like that in real life? with pauses and shit?
You weren't on this board at the time of the Baldomir and Oscar fights, so you wouldn't know. Obviously Floyd was the favorite, but my point is that those same people who said he will lose did not give him credit for proving them wrong, and that is pure hate.
Also, I find it kinda ironic how haters say Floyd doesn't take risks, but the fight against Baldomir was called "Pretty Risky". Obviously it's just promotion, and in hindsight it's extremely difficult to believe Baldomir was once considered "risky" for Floyd, but it's still pretty funny.

Contrary to your asinine belief people don't pick Cotto to beat Floyd. Multiple polls suggest so. This fight is just beginning to boil over, you will pay any amount to watch it when the time comes, that's exactly what they want.

I don't understand why people still defend "Money" at all...he's a business man first and a boxer second. It's not hard to see he doesn't understand his position in the boxing world outside of the paycheck he hopes to receive--He actually thinks hes the greatest boxer of all time. Better than Ray Robinson?
Even in the most warped brain, that believes this kind of outlandish goof ball shit--You can bet your life you would've never seen Robinson "Dancing with the Stars" or wrestling with a hairy, sweaty, 7 foot tall white man on live TV for 1 million acne scarred pre-teens that have no concept of boxing what so ever.
