I think Hatton-Mayweather did 900k here aswell.
Not sure what Tyson-Lewis did but I imagine that did pretty big numbers here too.
Mayweather/hatton did 1.2million buys. The only fight in Britain ppv to do over a million buys which is impressive numbers when u consider the America ppv numbers was 925,000 - Lewis/Tyson did 750,000 which is the 4th highest in Britain, 900,000 would put it joint second along with Haye/klitschko and Haye/valuev 3rd with 800,000 buys
Ah ok, fair enough. Any reason for this?
Be interesting to see estimated numbers for Hatton.
If a fight does really big numbers (British standards) then the numbers normally get leaked e.g froch/groves2 did 900k and Tyson/Lewis did 750k. As per Hatton his fight with Mayweather is the only fight in British PPV to do over a million (1.2) which was actually more than the American ppv numbers
Roy Jones won his first world title at 160 and went onto win the heavyweight title with Ruiz weighing in at 226 which is a 66 pound difference if you go from the smaller weights its like going from light flyweight to light heavyweight which would result in him potentially being a 14 weight world champion
By the end of this year we will be 6 years through the decade (I think its from 2010 to 2019) so I think Mayweather has a real chance of winning it considering I don't think he will finish it September. Other fighters I think will be in the discussion are Crawford, Ward and GGG.
I think just being an 8 division champion is something that automatically puts you on the list. The guy has done something nobody else has ever done, where as there have been plenty of undefeated fighters over the years.
If what Pacquaio did was so easy then we'd have plenty of 6+ division champs, but we don't.
Think unless Mayweather does something drastic he will be behind Pacquaio on ATG ranking.
i think pac is top 50 atg not top 5, 1 thing i will say tho is even tho pac went up 8 divisions he only went up like 44 pounds, if you look at roy jones jr he went from 160 n when he faced ruiz he weighed 226 which is the same as moving up 66 pounds or even sam langford (i know he never actually won a world title but that was only because of the times he was fighting in) he started at lightweight and moved all the way up to heavyweight which in todays times would be 9 weight divisions
Why not?? Karma is a b1tch. Floyd probably had them put in the contract a ridiculous fine if Canelo doesn't make the limit. Floyd's too smart for this. $3M per pound or something wild like that.
Dan rafael said on twitter that there was a clause in the contract regarding a fine for each pound over, he hadnt been informed on the fine amount but he was told it was a lot of money. I think it's fair to say it will be a lot more than 300,000 per pound like the Marquez fight
Hopefully Canelo doesn't ask for too much.
Canelo made 1.25million vs Mosley and made 2million vs Lopez, I'm not sure how much he made vs trout n but wouldn't of thought it was more than 2.5million, I think he might get the same offer or just less than cotto got 8million and a share of the ppv
Dan rafael said that he spoke to Schafer who advised he is still working on the fight and that it could end up on mayweather/canelo undercard, he also said that Ortiz return could also end up being on the undercard
He works hard 4 HIS money so can do what he wants with it. Didn't Mark Zuckerberg give a hundred million dollars 2 improve schools in the states but still lives in a mansion worth 7,000,000 dollars. This shows they can help people but still spend their money on what they like
Don't really see how people can call it a robbery when it was a close fight (a robbery would be if Mosley got the decision over floyd or pac). I thought the fight was close but had Oscar winning by 1 point.
It's really not that simple. Many people would argue that Khan was weight drained at 135 and had no strength in his legs. His punch resistance has visibly increased at 140, so its not far-fetched to think he will be even tougher at 147. Your last point doesn't make any sense either, you can't be lucky because you're physically fit..
I agree with tht not having 2 take of tht last 5 pounds makes a difference, also ariza makes those 5 pounds count (more muscle in his legs).
Perhaps Hopkins would've been him, but I don't see any downslide for Hopkins, I think he's gotten better and more experienced. So 3-4 years plus minus wouldn't change so much imo.
Roy beats him prime for prime. No doubt in my mind, but would've been a sweet fight.
Ye Hopkins just seems 2 always perform age doesn't affect him, the reason I said a few years earlier tho is tht joes workrate seemed 2 affect Hopkins stamina in the later rounds
There was rumours tht Martinez wasn't training like he normally does because he didn't think much of barker. I don't think u could find a fighter who hasn't had a bad night in the ring but the good/great ones still win which is what both pac/Martinez both did
Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler, two undefeated top candidates at the peak of the division.
Eubanks, while he was on the slide.
Hopkins is a superb win no matter what, we know that by now.
Mario Veit, Omar Sheika, Richie Woodhall, Evans Ashira, Byron Mitchell, Robin Reid, Luciano Torres are all good fighters too.
The Kessler fight 2 me was his best fight, and like I said I was a fan went 2 his last 4 fights, I do however think Hopkins may of beaten him a few years earlier and a prime jones would of beat him.
I think it's because of the type of fighters he faced, never really went against any top fighters (in prime) other than lacy (wasn't really a gd challenge but people did think he was). I did like Joe tho went 2 his last 4 fights
If you concede to the fact that Mayweather weight around 158-160-ish, when not preparing for a fight, you would understand the concept.
Therefore instead of cutting down to 147, all he has to do is get down to 155. That means, more eating and less dieting to make the Welterweight limit. You train hard, and consume more food for recovery, instead of holding back to make weight.
Pacquiao eats now more then he ever did before coming to Welterweight. He is not even worried about making weight. Thus a healthy fighter. MOST CANNOT DO IT, because they don't have the ability of a Pacquiao, and therefore want to stay down at a certain weight and fight guys that they are stronger then. PERFECT EXAMPLE: Ricky Hatton. Walks around at 170, cuts down 30 pounds to fight Jr.Welters. If he had the confidence and skills, he could cut less and only get down to 147, and be much healthier for it. But he didn't do that for most of his career, because he is a one-dimensional fighter and can't handle slightly bigger fighters, like Pac and Floyd and some other can.
Sergio may have been able to stay at 154 for the rest of his career, but liberated himself from strict Dieting, by moving up to a weight class, where he has 5 more pounds to play with (155-160), thus a healthier 37 year old.
It has been fun educating you, despite the Knee-jerk insults.
when floyd isnt training 4 a fight its been said he weighs between 150/152 not 158/160, when he was in wwe they did a weigh in with big show n had trainers, clothes etc n still didnt weigh 160
i think there is 20/25 fighters than could b considered in the top 5, but srr should always b top of any list
1. srr
2. armstrong
3. ali
4. joe louis
5. pep
Calzaghe and Hatton were two of my favorites when they were fighting, that would have been great to be at those fights.[/QUOTE
wasnt really a fan of either but my older brother was going to watch calzaghe kessler in cardiff n my mom got me a ticket cause she new i liked boxing but had never watched one live. after i enjoyed tht fight my brother paid 4 me 2 go vegas (with him and a few others) 4 my 18th instead of going to watch real madrid barca at the bernabeu after tht i became a fan of both
Floyd Mayweather couldn't even make the agreed to catchweight of 145.
Floyd has an arm length of 26", the same as Wladimir Klitschko.
And as usual, he fought in his HOMETOWN.
Great fighters are willing to go on the road to fight from time to time.
floyds reach is 72 inches n wladimir is 81 inches its paul williams who has the same as wlad
Yea he has a real huge fan base :lol1:
Which is why there were 30% empty seats at the MGM venue and half the crowd being mexican?
Dude cant sell a 16k venue in his home town, what chance does he have to do 100k?
maybe Amir Khan can pull it off in the UK.
There are very few fighters that can sell out 40k+ arenas in their home town/country
Those are
1) Vitali / Wlad (Germany/Russia/Ukraine)
2) Canelo (Mexico/Texas)
3) Adamek (Poland)
4) Manny P (Pinoy Land)
pretty sure Zaveck can do 30k in Slovenia if they can get a venue that big.
he said mayweather has a big fan base in uk. hatton did 55,000 against lazcano so i think mayweather khan would do 100,000 over in the uk. mayweather has a big fanbase since his fight with hatton (holds the box office record in the uk it did 1.1million, no other hatton fight ever did over 500,000)
The fight was fast approaching and he wasn't mentally right. Maybe he couldn't fall asleep one night and out of desperation cut his eyebrow with a knife. Who knows what the next excuse will be come december.
He's shook, he;s scared and he wants out of the tournament
didnt showtimes 24/7 (think its called camp 360) record the moment the cut happened in training.
are there any 100k stadiums in england?
wembley holds 88,000 so with seats on the pitch tht would b around 100,000 (going on the hatton/lazcano numbers which took it from a 45,000 seater 2 55,000). i also think it would sell out pretty fast, when mayweather came over to promote the marquez fight he did a public workout n they had 2 close the roads around the gym cause of the amount of people. tht occured when most people was at work etc. (i believe over 10,000 people showed up just 4 his workout)
