I hate that so many fights are in Vegas. No other sport that I can think is solely fought out of the hometowns for the most part.
Look at bowl games for the most part which pits two non local teams against each other. Unless its a huge bowl game or close enough geographically to one team the attendance is usually pitiful and the stadium is half empty or worse.
Put a fighter in his hometown like Bud or Spence have done recently and the crowds are legit.
I think fighting once or twice a year is dumb. You get your name out and become popular by being in the spotlight. If the NFL or NBA played one game a year they would have a lot less interest.
So I'm all for being active.
The usual suspects on this forum MAD :lol1: So much for being "Boxing Fans" Right :nonono:
Yes it is very much believable if you live in America and you understand how BIG of a Network FOX is and how much Views a Dallas Cowboys Football Game on FOX get every Sunday. Cowboys vs Saints just had 24.7 MILLION VIEWS this past Sunday :lol1:
FOX gets most of the credit based how they Promote their PPV's by Promoting it when other far more popular sports are on like NFL and NCAA Football which consistently Draw Big Ratings every Saturday and Sunday. They Ran Spence Jr vs Porter Promo Clips repeatedly and it paid off and the big key here is that it cost them absolutely NOTHING to promote their own events on their own network compared to Promoters typically having to PAY to run their Commercials leading up to a fight
Even seen DAZN jump in on the Action paying for a Commercial Spot during a NFL Game which is Smart...
Be a fan of BOXING and not just Groupies for Certain Boxers, Certain Promoters and Certain Networks! You will enjoy the sport better when you appreciate, watch and support them ALL
This. These ******s blowing one company or another blow my mind. I swear its like half this forum. Who gives a **** enjoy good fights and stop wanting everything to fail. I didn't see a ton of buzz before the fight. But I did get like 12 people to come over and watch at my house. They all enjoyed it and were still talking about it the next few days.
I cancelled showtime because I prefer watching more than one fight a month. I'll get it back whenever they have a fight I want to watch. People that think this is some kind of war they have to side with are idiots. If it has good fights watch if not don't. Who gives a phuck what label its under. And cheering for a boxing service to fail is remarkably ******ed.
Not to mention that Dazn is primarily focused on boxing. Espn and Showtime its like their 100th priority. So hoping DAZN fails is mind blowingly dumb for a boxing fan.
It takes time to build awareness and brand. Not just going to start an app and immediately have 20 mill paying for a sport they weren't paying for before. I like the service and have had it continually since it started. Showtime I pickup depending on schedule then cancel when it sucks, and then re subscribe when a good fight is on.
The only thing I don't like if they get NFL is they will start focusing on it. I like DAZN because their main focus is boxing. Feels like it was made for boxing fans. Boxing is like Showtimes 50th priority
Agreed 100% it’s been so much better quality wise since even March. It was a very slow start though that left a bad taste in all or our mouths, then when it finally starts to get good, they double the price.
Lowered the price for non poor people. Now you get an entire year for basically the cost of 1 ppv and like 4 cheeseburgers.
Mine worked fine. You have to remember most people are idiots and when you go streaming you will have some dumb phuck with wifi running at 1mbs complaining that they can't watch.
30,000? I know its a good showing but I bet PBC were hoping for closer to 40,000. I'm sure it would of made more money putting it in American Airlines arena.
Prob be close to 40k by fight night with walk up
I'm not sounding an alarm. I've been saying they are in debt cuz you're supposed to be in debt right now doing what DAZN is doing.
But even AT BEST ($96M) with their income in the US thats $30M/yr to spend on the rest of boxing, Bellator, the other sports they have, production, on air talent (Ak & Barak ain't working for free ya know) after Canelo ($66M/yr). I think it's a solid bet they are in the hole more than expected in the US hence the price change so early in the game.
I think the price change was always planned. It makes sense to reward the consistent subscribers. 8.33 is cheaper than 9.99. The people that were going to sign up for 9.99 for one month then quit just for big fights provide no value for Dazn so make them pay 20 because why? They will still pay it come fight day because its 60 bucks cheaper than ppv
After Dazn got it’s reviews from this weekend, it’s safe to say they won’t be doing much in the US. Dazn sucks was #1 trending on twitter after the fight.
I’ve never seen such a flawed product
Can't blame your ghetto ass internet on Dazn. Mine worked flawless
Why are people comparing netflix. A primarily boxing channel is never going to come close to the largest streaming service. Thats like saying its ridiculous that a local hardware store doesn't out sell Home Depot.
Probably wouldn't be on a boxing forum if I didn't love boxing. All forums have died down due to other forms of social media. I follow it far more on Facebook, youtube, and Twitter now, but still come here when I think of it. I follow tons of boxing pages so my news feeds on both are constantly talking boxing. Feels like its growing on there. Showtime boxing Facebook page almost has 2 mill followers now
Agreed. Blows my mind people hate on a network. DAZN has a primary focus on boxing. I like boxing therefore I like things that focus on it. So I like DAZN. I also like ESPN Top Rank and PBC. Why? because I like boxing.
Sluggers and dudes that go to war easily. I don't mind a slicker dirty fighter as long as he brings punishment like a bhop or ward. But guys that just run and jab are boring.
