Option 1. Curious how many people on here prefer fighters that can simply outbox an opponent to a wide UD, yet make it boring for many who want to see action. Do you prefer this and consider it the better form and style to watch in boxing? Hit and do not get hit and you're entertained with that for 12 rds, every single time?
Option 2. Do you prefer a slugger who is willing to take hits to land his own, give the crowd a good fight and ideally end it with a knock out?
Option 3. Do you prefer a guy who can box, but also likes to mix it up here and there and has enough power to end the fight at some point?
Just curious. Do you think the sport can maintain itself if the majority of fighters were option 1? Would you pay your hard earned money to buy a PPV or watch it live in-person knowing the fighter is going to be aiming for a points decision? Are these fighters good for the sport?
Watching a fighter who is a slugger brings its entertainment value and excitement to the sport, but does this mean he's not a "good" boxer? He blocks with his head and will probably have a shortened career while giving some excitement while it lasts.
OR the power boxer, knowing he can kind of do it all? You might get some decision victories and you might get some exciting bouts that can end in a satisfying KO.
Sluggers and dudes that go to war easily. I don't mind a slicker dirty fighter as long as he brings punishment like a bhop or ward. But guys that just run and jab are boring.
If Porter was a natural puncher he would have been unstoppable
i thought he got outboxed pretty clearly by ugas 9-3 or so. even if he was a natural puncher, and he very well may be, he smothers his work with that style
i just want to see the best fight the best (or at least fights that are evenly matched) and minimal clinching/holding. i enjoy a fighter like crawford that can do a bit of everything. a fight that ended in knockout that was super painful for me to watch was the first mosley vs mayorga fight. nice knockout at the end and nobody was running around trying to win the decision, but it was just very sloppy and difficult to enjoy. i would rather see a fight like ortiz vs lopez than something along those lines
Depends on the fighter, Marco Antonio Barrera wasn't a particularly the biggest puncher and went 12 rounds, but the guy was a complete text-book boxer that threw a lot of unorthodox combinations. When I rewatched some fights of his I was surprised to see him throw uppercut in disguise of a body punch like Vaquero Navarrete and throw consecutive piston like jabs. (Like he landed three hard jabs at Naseem Hamed.)
I find Devin Haney and Dmitry Bivol entertaining depending on who they are fighting. Mostly top level fighters.
I like ACCURATE punching with limited wrestling.
Porter was high action but hard to watch due to accuracy
Clinch if you’re hurt or to halt the opponent’s offense. But don’t go Sergio Mora on us by pythoning fans to boredom
not a fan of MAULERS
If Porter was a natural puncher he would have been unstoppable
I like a violent brawl as much as anyone but I also appreciate displays of slick boxing. I think a high-stakes chess match between two snipers is tense fun, when either guy can snuff the other out with one well placed shot. I think the best is when you have a nice contrast of styles that provides ebb and flow in a fight.

Everyone likes sluggers which is why back and forth slugfests are generally FOTY candidates. I also like defensive fighters who can stand in another fighter's wheelhouse defending and scoring.
I was a big fan of light hitting Jimmy Young and for awhile I was a big fan of fast Eddie Chambers. Defensive fighters who dance around the ring to put themselves completely out of reach, making their opponent chase them around the ring, I am not a fan of.
I like both.
Love all action slugfests. Love watching a power boxer like Navarette.
But I also like greatness and excellence. Love watching Floyd dominate and opponent with skill.
Just like hoops. We all live power dunks. But Kyrie or Kobe (RIP) high level skill display is just as entertaining and enjoyable.
