Regardless of whether or not you disagree as to how much either guy was having their way in that fight, you should at least be able to acknowledge that it was 4 rounds of great boxing. It was better than many PPV's in fact. Mayweather looked very impressive and Ortiz didn't have a bad showing at all. Can anyone agree with this? Or are we all just a bunch of fan boys obsessed with giving these guys Blow jobs all day?

It's going to look really bad if Marquez retires after this fight, I don't care what the reason is. I'm not saying this is going to happen, but the easy paydays need to stop. The fact that they are acting buddy buddy doesn't help at all.

I think Floyd has slipped more than most people realize and it will show up on Saturday night. Mosley wasn't very capable of exposing it but Ortiz is. That being said, I think Floyd will win, but it won't be impressive.

This one is different from anything I've seen on HBO. There is a video showing them face to face talking on TW's website. Victor Ortiz is HUGE next to Mayweather. I've got a big poker game and quite a few casual fans coming to my house to watch this fight--maybe 20+. If this fight bombs it is going to look terrible for the sport and make me look like a dumbass. I've managed to sell them on several fights in the past, and they have been disappointed by most. This better not be one of those...

Maybe I'm overrating Mayorga's power, but Cotto took a lot of pretty crisp shots from Mayorga and was hardly fazed. What does this mean for the Margarito fight? If he rematches Pac at a catchweight of 150 and uses his boxing skills, will this perceived difference in durability affect the outcome at all?

What was Cotto's best performance? I've seen about 7-8 of his fights, and I think that his best performance was against Margarito, aside from the fact that he lost obviously lost. Before you guys post and complain about the fact that Cotto didn't win, just think about how he was boxing prior to getting hurt. He looked faster than I've ever seen him at welterweight, was throwing very accurate punches and combos, moving on his feet very well under TREMENDOUS pressure, and was winning the fight handily before he got stunned in the seventh. If Margarito's body shots hadn't been so effective, Cotto wouldn't have tired as much and would have won that fight. What do you guys think? If I'm not taking into account another fight, let me know.

It's understandable that people can't necessarily afford a cable bill in excess of $150 just to have Showtime and HBO for the purpose of watching the big fights; however, when it comes to PPV's you are interested in seeing, it does the sport a disservice to stream the fights for free. There are about 4 PPV's a year, which amounts to about $240. If you aren't capable of splitting that two or three ways among friends over the span of a year, what are you doing on this forum? Your time would be better spent searching for food... That being said, if you don't like the matches, don't pay for them. Promoters don't deserve to get paid for crappy fights. Let's vote with our dollars people.

According to some people on this forum, if you are relatively new to boxing, you can't possibly make a good point; in fact, you probably shouldn't even watch the sport. You should allow it to stagnate with the same fan base it has had for years until it becomes completely irrelevant. This is the worst attitude I have seen in some time regarding acceptance of a new fan to the sport--most people are happy to oblige. I should probably tell the 10-15 fans I've attracted to the sport to just stop watching it and let it die--maybe I will. Oh, and in case you thought admitting your ignorance of some particular aspect of a subject would be taken into consideration, you're wrong. It's assumed you know nothing. I guess everyone on this forum should probably shut up about any fighter prior to the 80's huh? Correct me if i'm wrong

I could be completely wrong, and correct me if I am, but it seems as if Pacquiao has had the single best fighter in Barrera/Marquez on his resume, but fewer solid opponents. What I mean is that if you take out re-matches, Pac has fought quite a few fighters on the downside of their careers. Floyd doesn't seem to have anyone as impressive as Barrera/Marquez on his resume, but has had more solid, prime fighters. I haven't been around long enough to know, but this is my impression. What do you guys think? Am I wrong about saying Corrales/Hernandez were not as good as Barrera/Marquez? Pacquiao: Barrera, Morales, Marquez Floyd: Corrales, Castillo, Hatton, Hernandez Here are the best fighters each have faced in my opinion. I'm not including other guys that weren't in their prime.

Who do you guys think poses the biggest risk to Donaire from 118-126 over the next two years? I say two years because I want to include prospects that will have developed in that time. Assume that current top featherweights are still capable of making weight. What guys beat him, or make it a pick'em fight?

My gut-shot opinion is that 2011 will prove to be a year where the fans got to see some good fights, with golden boy doing a better job of matching their fighters a little less carefully (with the exception of Canelo :D) Anybody disagree? Bob Arum has obviously pissed me off lately...

I have noticed a few people claiming that Morales is a new threat at 140 because he had a competitive fight with Maidana. IMO Maidana is just that terrible of a boxer and got exposed as such more than anything else. The problem with this thinking is that Morales has all of a sudden become a legitimate opponent for top fighters and I think that is a distraction.The likes of Khan and Bradley should be fighting each other or move up in weight at this point, not worry about whether or not Morales wins his next fight. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve credit, but I'd hate to see khan or Bradley fight him when they could be fighting more competitive fights. Thoughts?

With respect to Ortiz, it is important to remember that just because Maidana won, it doesn't that he hits harder; if anything it means Victor's chin wasn't up to the task.)

It get's pretty old trying to re-explain yourself every time someone new jumps on to a thread, so we should agree to make sure we read everything before we start frothing at the mouth. Threads develop and positions change in light of new perspective: it isn't some static thing that stays the same. Or does it?

Despite Cotto's impressive run in the lower divisions, Cotto is currently running as scared as any fighter I've ever seen. I guess every fighter gets the chance to duck at some point in their career...

Looks like Canelo might finally get his chance to beat the hell out of JCC Jr. This is just going to have to happen for him to keep his respect if he vacates to avoid Martinez.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Pac has a fairly weak resume at welterweight relative to ATG welterweights. Mayweather is also questionable as an ATG at this weight. Overall, Pac is legendary, but this perception of him as an unprecedented welterweight is stupid. Please tell me if I'm wrong.

This is getting ridiculous. It takes some serious nerve to criticize May's choice in Ortiz after looking at ALL of Manny's recent fights since Cotto. How can you be the top welterweight when you are fighting old washed up fighters?

I think Juanma is a decent fighter and top contender but in no way is he the elite fighter he has been made out to be. He has power and that is about it. His chin isn't good, he's slow, and he doesn't even have the best technique. Gamboa would blow him out in under 5 rounds, Mikey Garcia would take him out in the late rounds if not sooner, Gary Russell would make him look stupid, Chris John would out box him, and Salido will defeat him again. Maybe he would be a good showcase for Donaire moving up to featherweight, lol. Nuff said.

Two of Khans fights have featured extremely annoying air horns blaring throughout the broadcast. Has anyone else noticed this and is HBO aware of how bad it is?!

Let's clear the air on this right now. We all know that Pac and Floyd have only ever been paper champions at junior middleweight. That doesn't mean they should go on and fight Sergio Martinez, who is much larger than either of them. I think it's an unfair expectation. But yes, they should never have been considered jr middleweight champs in the first place. What do you guys think? I say the Martinez hatchet needs to get buried now.

I previously posted a thread about the possibility of a Gary Russell/Donaire fight, but most people seem to believe it is too early to start talking about that; however, both Gamboa and Donaire are ready to fight and could could prove to be an awesome match up. Who you guys pickin? I'm going with Donaire because Gamboa is so wide open. That being said, Donaire's chin hasn't been tested at 126 so things could change a lot between now and then...

I don't know about you guys, but this looks like a potential super-fight a few years down the road. Power and speed vs Ridiculous speed.

I just feel like the air needs to be cleared on this one. I think that anyone who believes Cotto is in the same league with may or Pac needs to put the pipe down for a second. Anyone agree or disagree?
