According to some people on this forum, if you are relatively new to boxing, you can't possibly make a good point; in fact, you probably shouldn't even watch the sport. You should allow it to stagnate with the same fan base it has had for years until it becomes completely irrelevant. This is the worst attitude I have seen in some time regarding acceptance of a new fan to the sport--most people are happy to oblige. I should probably tell the 10-15 fans I've attracted to the sport to just stop watching it and let it die--maybe I will.
Oh, and in case you thought admitting your ignorance of some particular aspect of a subject would be taken into consideration, you're wrong. It's assumed you know nothing. I guess everyone on this forum should probably shut up about any fighter prior to the 80's huh?
Correct me if i'm wrong
i know my history..................thats why im calling mayweather out on his BS..............
the number 1 thing u should kno about nsb...strugg is obsessed with mayweather. i think floyd ****ed his chick or something back in the day, bringing on years of butthurt.
Your life mission apparently.
What will you do when he's gone?
I'm well aware of Strugg's vendetta, lol.
You should. That's how it should be. Don't listen to me. I'm not that knowledgeable. You have guys like Jabs, IMDAZED, RubenSonny, Shadows, Heeb, NCHRISTO, IRONDANHAMZA, Reedickyaluss, TheGreatA, GJC, Harry, Greatest1942, Silencers, Mgrooter(I think is his name) are all much better posters and way more knowledgeable than I am.
So by all means do not take my word serious. And, do not listen to me. Do your own research.
Like Larry said I'm bias fukk. So don't take my posts serious.
And, great that you have passion for the sport. Learn do your research. However, if you do not know enough about a subject, don't be so quick to agree with guys who have the same belief as you. And, be so quick to be close minded in people who don't have the same belief as you. Because, that's it what you did. And, you co-signed or agreed or believed some stuff that Phenom, KLTP said that were wrong or just an idiotic logic.
Before you even take what they said serious or disregard what I had to say so quickly. Do your research. And, that's what I asked you to do.
And, if that's me being in my high horse or whatever. Then so be it.
You think Floyd resume is as good as Pac. Without even really knowing Pac resume because you even admit that you don't. Then so be it. You right it is. I'm wrong plenty posters like Phenom, KLTP, Yesir and all of them agree with your logic.
Green K and points coming your way.
way to go *******!!!
lol
every?..............single thread?....................link or it didnt happen..........talk about exaggerations.....................
lmao...look at this dude.
in every. single. thread? smh....riiiiite.
Sometimes it's funny how STRUGG manages to get a "Mayweather is a duck" comment in threads that he can't possibly bring it up in.
Bottom line: If you don't know than don't pretend you do. If you don't know about the fighters Marvin Hagler beat in his reign as middleweight champion, don't start threads asking why he isn't criticized like Wlad is, for example.
There's plenty I don't know about the history of the sport, and I stay away from talking about it because I'm not a douche who likes to pretend I do know. If someone is being a jerk to you because you don't know as much as they do, ignore them and stick to the topic.
nope i was a floyd fan before........but my being an objective boxing fan.....................compels me to call out his ducking.....................
in every. single. thread? smh....riiiiite.

The problem is when new fans start talking about how Jermain Taylor would beat Marvin Hagler or claim Pacquiao is the greatest fighter ever, without bothering to watch older fighters or learn about the history of the sport. If you're new, and stick to modern boxing, good. If you're new, and learn the history of the sport, good. If you're new and pretend to know everything and condescend to fans who actually know about the history of the sport, f*** you.
The history of the sport is very important...but a lot of people here just post their opinions and everyone knows that opinions are like as#holes, everyone has one and they all stink...

The problem is some of these novice fans have no intention of learning the history of the sport and then try to make historical comparisons as if they have any clue what they're talking about. They say blatantly uninformed things such as "Could Roy Jones beat Pacquiao?" or "Mayweather ducked Tito Trinidad!" I've actually seen people post this stuff. Nobody starts out knowing everything, so we were all beginners at some point. Just don't act like you're a genius based off your limited perspective.
No one was acting like a genius in the thread. The thread started with a pretty clear disclaimer--if that wasn't an admission of ignorance I don't know what is.
fukk manny and floyd talk boxing..ignore flomos and pactards and actually learn about the sport dont even follow manny and floyd
i agree...there is always arguing and people taking **** personal as if they get a percentage from pac of floyds paycheck...

It's like an anything else. It takes years of watching boxing and reading about boxing history to really have a strong knowledge of the sport, and people tend to want to discuss things with people who know what the hell they're talking about. I am a 30 year boxing fan/historian of the sport and for all intents and purposes I feel like I went to Boxing College in my teen years, and then Pugilistic Graduate school in my adulthood. All of that has made me the knowledgeable, experienced boxing fan that I am today. As long as new fans show respect to the sport, to the fighters, and to the people who know more about it than they do, they should be welcomed and treated well by more seasoned fans who can teach them something. That's how it's supposed to work, but the internet and discussion forums in particular complicate that and give disrespect, ignorance, and intolerance a place to thrive. Boxing is still a gentleman's sport, just not so much online.
Those guys that say that are just very frustrated to be from some era that they are not from. How you can be in your 20s and spend so much time on boxing history, instead of trying to get a good paying job, spend that time on trying to become a doctor or a lawyer..you're on here all frustrated like a guard dog, trying to see who knows more than you and who doesn't know more than you. That is what you call a frustrated person...not even a fanatic, just a person who is frustrated. You can be just like them if you want to OP, these guys are no older than in their 30s probably, most of them, and they learned everything off the internet, it's not like they were around back then. So don't let them talk down to you. If you wanna learn about boxing history, talk to a person who actually goes by memory, not some internet historian. I rather listen to some inaccurate elderly people who never used a computer, than listen to these fake ass posters trying to be perfect, talking down to every one, when they actually learned everything off the internet themselves.
Have you seen his Lounge stuff?
And you do know he ran a Mayweather fan club for a good while?
Mayweather Mafia.
Than he was all over Sergio Martinez.
He's a bandwagon fan.
He also runs a bunch of alts like I am God, Amir is King and others where he tries to be so annoying as to enrage other people to hate the fighters he's faking to support. Like Khan and Pac.
There's a reason he's been banned numerous times.
Don't forget Mannyisgod and IworshipManny.
Boxing fans LOVE running into other boxing fans. The problem here on NSB is that a lot of posters that have come around here are boxer fans that don't really care about boxing other than their guy, and just want to push some weird agenda.
I think it just makes some of the fans that have been following for many years really bitter towards the newer fanbase, because they hear younger fans that weren't watching the sport during certain fighters' heydays say that Oscar, Roy, Mosley, and other future HOFers were garbage, bums, ect. They weren't watching the guys in their heyday nor do they know the context in terms of what was on the line when those guys stepped into the ring for whatever fight. Also, you have to remember you are on an internet message board, and condescending and elitist posters are going to be found on ANY forum, whether it's for sports or shoes or beagles.
There was a tread made recently by a completely uninformed (obviously newer) fan which claimed that Amir Khan "exposed" Marco Antonio Barrera. That's one of the most ludicrous and uninformed things I've ever read on NSB, and gave the kid my two cents. Dude ignored me and kept posting about how Barrera was clearly exposed by Khan. Annoying.
ANYWAY. If a guy is giving you flack because you aren't "in the know" about a certain fighter, just ask the guy what fights of his to watch and hit up the Video Trading Block. If they're going to be elitist pricks, then don't bother talking to them.
We're all fans, and to be honest the newer ("bandwagon") fans probably pump more money into the sport than the longtime fans that know how to get everything for free. :rolf:
That is insane. I have only been watching about three years now, but I've watched 90% of the fights available to watch and looked at quite a few records. That is pretty dumb. I'm surprised people that don't care enough about the sport to know better bother with forums at all.
