That suuuucks. Never saw her fight, but I knew where she stood in women boxing. Things like that always made you wonder where that person would end up in their career. Rest in peace.
Nope. I knew that fight wasn't gonna be PPV anyways. Which makes me think the real reason why they might've canceled the fight wit Mosley and Judah. That was gonna do bad PPV numbers.
I'm not sure really.
First off, Miguel Cotto is a much better fighter than Felix Trinidad ever was. This always catches flack with Tito supporters but Trinidad was as one dimensional as one dimensional can get. He was a power puncher who always relied on the big shot to end the fight. Any time he was ever in over his head he showed a fundamental lack of ability to adapt. (See the first 8 rounds against Oscar, the entire Hopkins fight, and the Wright fight.)
Cotto is superior to Tito is ever possible aspect of the game, save for power punching. He can box when he needs to, he moves his head well, great ring movement, he's a better technician, etc....
Tito could not run from Tony, because A.) he's too prideful and B.) he's too stupid to know how. So his only choice would be to brawl Margarito. It then becomes a question of who's chin or body would break first, and that's up for debate.
One thing I know for sure is that if Trinidad couldn't take it, he wouldn't last as long as Cotto did because he isn't smart enough to get out of the way of incoming damage.
Best reply I've heard so far.(only read the first page)
AND... Cotto's chin is better than Trinidad's.
I knew they'd be burn for this on the site. But I think this relates to the recent fight with Oscar Diaz and Delvin Rodriguez and the severe damage Diaz took.
As I looked at the ending of the PPV tonight, I think to myself, "this is what we pay for... violence?". I still love the sport more than ever before, though. The permanent damage, though is inevitable and scary. Just gotta protect ourselves better when we fight.
Cotto definitely had the stamina. It's the shots that he took is what wore him down. Cotto has to be more calculated and avoid taking more of Margarito's punches, especially in the later rounds.
another epic fail thread in the making :lol1:
Agreed. It suddenly becomes a trend as soon as they hear from somebody else that a fighter is weight drained, not the same fighter after a loss or too old. People then just start going by what they heard and not by what they're seeing. Yes, De La Hoya looked weak as **** in the fight wit Pacquiao but Hatton weight drained? After he just finished f-in' up Paulie? Even though he lost in 2 rounds against Pac, he showed the ability to fight hard in those two rounds.
When did he do that?!!! A year ago he was fighting at the featherweight limit, and at that time we were all thinking that this former flyweight has just reached his limit and no way will he be thinking of moving up in weight some more, specially after he witnessed two failed attempts by Morales himself at going up just 1 division higher. Now that Manny is doing the unthinkable and doing it impressibly, you are all hating at the man for stepping up, fighting at an uncomfort zone, fighting the big boys. And now you bitching out that the pacman is cheating on his opponents, why don't you look the other way and see if manny is getting favorable advantages form his recent fight deals..
Manny fought Hatton at 140lbs, a weight ricky was undefeated in for the longest time and was considered the king and lineal champion by everyone.
Manny fought Oscar at 147lbs, 3 divisions jump from his comfort weight of 130lbs. A former Middleweight fighting a former Featherweight, the only problem is Oscar miscalculated his diet, he should have been 155-160lbs at fight time but Manny came in prepared either way.
And now Cotto at 145lbs, Cotto was 146lbs in his last fight with Clottey, and there was some bitching before that it shouldn't be a title fight at 145lbs coz it would be really unfair to cotto, well guess what.. IT IS NOT A TITLE FIGHT!! you all haters happy now?!!! Manny gave in to cottos every request just to make the fight and cotto is the BIGGER MAN on this fight...
Kinda rubs you the wrong way doesnt it...
Good post. I'm pretty sure 145 is comfortable for both Pacquiao and Cotto.
Lennox Lewis was ducking Klitschko the whole time. Lewis was supposed to fight Kirk Johnson, but since Johnson pulled out, he HAD to fight V. Klitschko(he was the mandatory challenger for like 2 years anyway). So, yeah, Vitali lost by a cut. Vitali was still game enough to fight. Sad it had to be ended because of that gash which seemed dangerous. Lewis has been knocked out cold and got his rematch. Lewis said he'd give Vitali a rematch if he beats Johnson. He blew out Johnson in 2 rounds, then Lewis retires. Lennox was scared to lose to Vitali and everybody knows it. Vitali couldn't avenge his losses cuz he didn't get the chance to.
Never mind taking another man's word for it, just look at Vitali fight. Him and Lennox should've rematched an Lennox decided to retire after Vitali blew Kirk Johnson out the water.
One question.... Castillo going to the body for 12 rounds... and what did it do?
he Still lost.
Mayweather on post-De La Hoya fight, "Just look at the punch stats"
Well lookit the punch stats on the Castillo fight.
Cotto still wayyyy better than Castillo.
If anyone votes for Mayweather ducking Cotto over Hatton ducking Witter then they really show a lack of boxing knowledge.
I dont even need to vote, We all KNOW who the P4P biggest Ducker is at the moment and its definitely Hatton.
Ducking for 8years and counting his different from Ducking for 2 months(Last Mayweather fight).
I agree, even though I picked Mayweather Cotto.
I think Hatton's ducking all 140 champs. I want him to fight Malignaggi.
