I think everybody wants to see this fight happen again. These are the type of fighters that are saving boxing. Cotto was winning the fight but the tide turned in the later rounds. He hit Margarito with his best but he kept coming forward.
Question is how will Cottos gameplan differ?
I believe the key is to get Margarito backing up.
He needs a more defensive approach & movement he shouldn't waste all his energy with power shots in 6s & 7s he should be more economical 2 & 3 punch combos then move he'll also have to use upper body movement well to slip a lot of Margarito's shots but as long as he isn't hit to body too much & is economical with his punches & tightens the defence & plenty of head movement he should beat Margarito.
He needs to fix up his defense. He can't just lay on the ropes like that. He also has to keep the fight in the center of the ring. He has to go in expecting to win a decision and not throw everything he has at him all the time. He needs to try to score and not knock him out with everything. He should also watch Pavik-Hopkins.
clinch, stay away from ropes, improve his stamina, avoid girls b4 fights & pray... because margo is comming after him anyway...
i can see him only winning a d over marg.
god man.. some ppl are acting like marg beat the living shit outta cotto for 10 rounds
Lets see, Cotto wouldnt have fallen apart if he wasnt getting the shit kicked out of him for 10 rounds....and if he wasnt gettin beat up for 10 rounds as you say then Marg beat him up for only 4 rounds and still punked the shit out of Cotto...
By your statement i lose even more respect for Cotto if he couldnt hang wit Marg for 4-5 rounds....
exactly. marg is simply too big, too strong, and too tough. its possible for cotto to win if he fights a pure boxers fight and avoids the ropes. he ha to hold sometimes too.
ahhh no shit... see here i thought it was 4, boy was i wrong shooot :pat:
dude was it any coincidence that Clottey was dominating marg through the early rounds then hurts his hand and he suddenly just drops off and basically spent one round just running around the whole time not throwing? No dude i cant say that Clottey would have one for sure bbut i deff say he had like a 95% chance of winning that fight if he had not hurt his left so dont act like Marg just dominated him that fight cuz we all know that aint true. Also why wont Marg fight him again?
Margarito didn't have injuries to fight through?
12 rounds, not 4.
Some people fight through the pain, others use it as an excuse.
Margarito fought, Clottey complained.
watch for tony's left hook.
avoid getting trapped in the ropes.
stick and move, use combinations.
go to the body.
avoid any type of punching exchanges (exp: ward/gatti).
and he'll win a decision over tony.
Championship fights are 12 rounds, not four.

Who WOULDNT want to see this fight again? it was the fight of the year hands down (in my opinion)...
It was EXACTLY as advertised...even better than I expected.
very exciting.
I think the key to beating margarito is not trying to outbang him and most importantly GO TO THE BODY...EARLY AND OFTEN...
the whole centerpiece to cotto's gameplan needs to be attacking the body.
Margarito might not be able to be hurt to the chin HOWEVER ANY fighter (ANY AND EVERY fighter) can be hurt to the body and its his best chance to tire margarito out.
Work that body...
Beyond that everything from his first fight gameplan was perfect; he didnt really engage margarito rather he out BOXED and OUT CLASSED him for the first 6-7 rounds...after 6 i think i only had one round in margarito's favor...
cotto boxing margarito was really paying off...his biggest problem was he ran around a little too much which tired him out because it takes more energy to move backwards and sideways than it does to move forward...so body attacks and good defense will be the keys to victory in my opinon for cotto to in a decision.
cotto is capable of beating margarito but he will need to stay off the ropes and he will need to conserve energy and hold margarito. he is capable of winning rounds and outpointing margarito but he'll really have to fight a pure boxers fight to do it.
i still got marg in the rematch but i cant wait to see it.
god man.. some ppl are acting like marg beat the living shit outta cotto for 10 rounds
i never thought i would be defending cotto b.c. i just didnt like him a until a few months ago
but the reality is, cotto has to stick with his original gameplan and not get suckerd into a brawl.. he was going good for the first half of the fight then he didnt continue to follow the gameplan..
cotto will win the rematch and all this marg hype will end..
btw, i like marg, but hes just your rough, rugged, type of fighter with insane conditioning and good pressure..
hard to beat, but cotto will come up with a recipe to beat him.. trust me
clottey will also
