Wha's perplexing to me is, SRL is not discredited for losing to a former lightweight.
While Floyd gets very little credit for completely shutting down a great former lightweight.
sigh.
No matter how you slice it, he lost to someone he should've beaten.
All the rationalization and justification in the world doesn't change that.
No wonder Bernard Hopkins places Money May in the top 3 of All Times!
His ability to generate huge pop in small distances....
You simply dont see world class fighters often reacting to clinch blows, contrary to Floyd while facing the highest of highest level of opponents, they scream to the ref, they elbow, they push, they foul almost instantly when Floyd is in the trench touching, and poking away at them with clean shots; it demoralizes his opponents bad enough you have to worry about counters, when they finally get close those shots are hurting like they aren't supposed to. That touts punch precision and accuracy, and better pop than advertised.....
That Roger pad-work is the key to this close quarters punching.
I'm not a regular poster; in fact, I try to avoid it as much as possible, because it's not good for me emotionally to get involved and be drawn into stupid debate. Not good at it. I often wish I didn't, but i visit this site (for better or worse) most everyday, multiple times a day. I have to scroll through ALOT of posts/posters to find posts of substance and free of 'over the top' bias.
I said all that to say that I really truly enjoy reading your posts.
Unlike Mayweather, SRL lost to a former lightweight. AND he's never been able to get out of the way of a straight right hand.
My Money's on Money.
Real hard to go against someone who's never lost. Period.
Ohh, you mean those 2 guys that fought in the U.S. a total of TWO times between them?
Ok.
I'm not into comparing eras. Floyd's 37 and still kicking people's asses, going on 18 years, and barely losing rounds.
If we were talking about anyone else, you might have a point.
Where this cat's concerned, I don't think you have much of one.
Reporter: " Where does Floyd rank among All Time Greats?"
Bernard Hopkins: "aww..Top 3"
***thread closed***
Umm, moderator, would you ensure that this thread is closed please?
;)
Canelo: "Hey Floyd, I'll fight you at 150lbs!!!"
Floyd: "Make it 152 and it's a deal..."
****
ATG Ray Leonard, after getting his ass kicked by a lightweight: "My intention was to fight Durán ASAP because I knew Durán's habits. I knew he would indulge himself, he'd gain 40–50 lbs and then sweat it off to make 147."
When people were saying Bradley had a better year (2013) than Mayweather I asked if they would feel the same if the roles were reversed...Floyd narrowly beating a 40 year old who hadn't fought in a year and going life and death with Provo or Bradley beating Guerrero and Canelo at 152...If anyone else did what he does they would be 'risktakers'.
Thread closed.
jas
Yes because rigo, ggg, ward and Bradley have called themselves the best ever........
Well, if I were undefeated after 17yrs. of fighting at the sport's highest level, and still schoolin' em in my late 30's, havin my peers using fear of needles to duck me, then my head might get a little swole too.
Jus' sayin...

Nice reply.
Ok I get it. I must be butthurt if I say something you don't agree with. Take a good look guys. This is the guy that comes into your place of work and gets told no about something or sorry we can't do that, sir....then calls back to complain that you were rude to him. The sad thing is that all you can do is say "I'm a funny dude", but I'm not wrong. He could have had it.
Dude...your thread is a micro-agressive smokescreen for the difference in how things have panned out for both fighters (Money May and Pac), since Pacroid and Uncle Bob walked away from the fight in 2010.
Cmon man, just stop it...
Money has gone on to higher heights and to become the highest paid athlete in sports, multiple years.
Pacquaio went on to getting KTFO!!
"He could have had it.."
Lols...whateva man...
Well he obviously didn't agree at first. Even if he did, there'd be no fight.
Both sides have duped the public. Remember Arum's "countdown clock"? LOOOL....they tried doe
When folks can't backup their argument with facts, they result to the old false equivalency standby.
this is a perfect example.
If I'm not mistaken the no PPV part is a bunch of BS. I have no doubt that no PPV was Mannys interpretation of the offer but I could of swore I heard Floyd say in an enter view that they never got a chance to discuss the money on the back end. Meaning Floyd was willing to give Manny some percentage of the PPV.
Yep. I read that also so, a direct quote from May. But conveniently that's left out of what was actually said.
one thing about manny is his fans comes in all different shape, size and color as for floyd its usually just the same color.
Oh, Yeah? Do tell?
If you don't mind my asking, what color would that b
Yeah he definitely has that. I'm not trying to take a cheap shot at Floyd (I know... hard to believe around here) but this crap is just sad. He could have been loved and adored not only in the US, but all over the world.
Sure you are. It's a dumb and rather irrelevant cheap shot in an attempt to obscure your butthurtness, but a shot none the less.
"...He could have been loved and adored not only in the US, but all over the world"
LOL
You're a funny dude...
Nope.
Ali - Foreman
Mayweather - Castillo (he also defeated a guy 2 weight classes above him)
Mayweather - Corrales
All rank higher for me.
But let's reverse that question:
Does Leonard's loss to a 'lightweight' impact his ATG status in your minds?
It does for me.
No one, it's a win - win. Floyd has hush money, Maidana makes more money, and Floyd gets hit with pillows AGAIN for 12-rounds. EVERYONE wins! :wank:
You cats kill me with your 'inside information' and conspiracy theories. Like you really know what you're talking about.
LOL
I dont get it, he keeps saying it's not an issue, but he makes it a BIG ISSUE by going out of his way so his opponent can't wear punchers gloves? Is he afraid or what.
Honestly i can't wait untill he retires already, and takes most of his BS thats ruining our sport, with him.
This " issue" just makes me want to miss the whole event all together. And add in one of the shiieettiest undercards in recent years, not a good competitive fight in the undercard, now they add this "no punchers glove" rule to make it even more one sided. Buying this is literally flushing money doing the tiolet.
From where I sit, it seems that YOU have more of an issue with this than anyone else.
Because he believes he is the God of boxing and he can do what ever the **** suits him.
He is a POS human being IMO
And there you have it. Spoken like a true right-wing hater.
Did Floyd really pay Maidana to wear pillows in the last fight? LOL, what a joke, he is an embarassment to the sport of boxing, seriously, i never seen "fighter" like that
No you're the only joke and embarassment for acting like you believe this stuff just because other haters like yourself came up with it.
You guys...lol.
Floyd being classy like always.
Showing all the thousands of black kids who look up to him how to act.
You know I heard a rapper once say that he shouldn't be held responsible for his words because it's the parents job to teach their kids. But the truth is you can't control who a child listens to, and yes you are responsible for your words. Especially when so many are listening.
Damn where all these racists coming from? Just like goddamn roaches, lol.
Im sorry but to say mayweather is a top 5 toughest fighter is ridiculous. Id say he is probably one of the best defensive fighters ever if not the greatest. Id say he is a top 5 most determined fighter p4p but not top 5 toughest. Ok in my list I actually got Bradley number one, then marquez, pacquiao, maidana and lastly believe it or no Broner. Id say malignaggi gets an honorable mention. I know everyone is saying alexander but the guy just holds after getting hurt. I love how broner fought in the later rounds against maidana. Provodnikov really deserves mention but hey also the guy he just fought algieri dude had eye swollen and fought like 10 more rounds that way and won.
How is it ridiculous? He's in his 17th, 18th year of professional prize fighting, rarely have you seen him in trouble and when so, he recovers well. Heck, he hasn't even suffered a legit knockdown.
C'mon man,
Please, be honest with yourself. Floyd was written all over your posts. You can't hide that you were thinking about your hero Floyd.
I watched Ali fight. He called out everybody. Did he fight everybody? You can't but he fought who people thought that he had to fight to be called the greatest. Some of those fights, he was heavily the underdog and some he had no chance ..... but he took them and was calling out for them, win or lose.
Some don't want to go Ali's route and state so. That is OK but then don't come back and say that you are the best because you are not. All you did was beat fighters that people expected you to win. Big deal! I can name you many fighters that had an "0" on their record up until they stepped it up and faced competition that made them no longer the favorite.
You stoopid.
Djokovic is the one of two most famous tennis players in the world right now and he's from Serbia. I'm serb too but personnally I couldn't care less about him and tennis, HOWEVER here in Europe (and in the rest of the world) he's the one of the very best known athletes and he's a lot more famous than Floyd is, without any doubt. Floyd is probably better known in US, especially amongst the urban population, while tennis players are better known amongst higher class society and sub urban people. Plus these guys have immense contracts with nike and the other companies that Floyd can't ever have.
Umm...you sound kinda racist.
not a lot mentioning pac because jmm khtfo.
but remember aside from jmm few have hurt pac at 147.
remember when he walked thru cottos punches?
went toe to toe with a huge marg at 150?
Man, you're talking about Pac's steroid years. They don't count.
Floyd fights toe 2 toe cuz' he wants to entertain his fans doe!
Expect a phone booth fight on the second doe! :boxing:
He was also RABBIT, KIDNEY, and BACK PUNCHING and KNEEING and WRESTLING, DOE.
