This is a serious question. Does Floyd being the face of the sport hurt boxing?
Floyd is flamboyant and has entertaining 24/7 which is great because you have to sell yourself. Many people love Floyd and many hate him but his fights not being exciting hurts the sport. A lot of people tune in to watch him lose but many times people are left disappointed not just because he wins but how he wins. Throwing 1 or 2 punches at a time and not engaging. Floyd is a great boxer but while he is number one I think sport will struggle. If Floyd was hated and knocking guys out the sport would be doing way better.
While floyd is a great fighter....Floyd is not the face of boxing...ask any euro, latino, or asian and they couldnt tell him apart from Broner or Berto (well maybe not any). Only greedy promoters hurt boxing. Any one that has a problem with the way Floyd fights can easily approach him at the gym and tell him whats up, but i doubt they would
I totally disagree. You can google anyone now a days. They knew who Floyd is vs Broner and Berto. Maybe people who dont follow the sport sure.
Boxing is selling more PPVs a year than it ever has. I'd say it's much more popular than 10 years ago so no he's not hurting it.
from a competitive standpoint, not financial it is in bad shape.
in 2009: the biggest fight to be made was Pacquiao vs. Mayweather
fast forward 2014: biggest fight to be made is STILL Pacquiao vs. Mayweather
This sport is in STANDSTILL....
Part of the problem is Floyd. He needs to own up to that.
yea...that ninja turtle has done enough damage. we need some new stars that will truly capture the imagination of fans. Floyd is too 2000's with his thuggish attitude and played out histrionics.

you have to take in consideration that both times he fought on a mexican holiday, and had a good undercards too. He also fought oscar and canelo who imo are bigger draws than floyd.
Really? What was Canelo's PPV numbers the last time? And, how much did he draw with Floyd? Kinda stupid assertion on your part. Leave the hate behind, bro.
how the fck is a fighter who has broken the ppv record twice bad for boxing? pac-idiots are bad for the sport.

Who's under steroid suspicion? and by who? Even Floyd doesnt believe it as he had to make that embarrasing climbdown and apologise. There is also a culture of doping over at TMT, not to mention floyd's 3 failed tests so that would probably be the place to start looking.
Yeah i`m sure you would apologize also to to pay less money in a settlement. Floyd basically apologized in order to pay less in the lawsuit.Freddie roach even said that Ariza was giving Pac-juice suspicious drinks. And Floyd failing three test is only a rumor, started by an extremely bias Pacquiao groupie who refuses to call Pacquiao out on his claims that he`s scared of needles-even though he has tattoos. And the fact that Freddie roach said Ariza was giving Pacquiao suspicious drinks.

Floyd actually help the sport grow, and a lot of people say that Floyd is their favorite fighter. So not every boxing fan cares to see caveman brawls, and a lot of people tune in to see him win.And a lot of fighters copied Floyd style including Canelo who has a big fan base, and Miguel Cotto(check him trying to do the shoulder roll in the first Margarito fight).
Floyd does not fight for fans nor anyone but himself and money. Funny thing, the richest fight ever in boxing and yet he puts excuses followed by more excuses and then more(testing, Arum, etc). That tells you a lot about the boxer.
I disagree with the last bit. I honestly believe that if Pacquiao wasn't with Top Rank, that fight would very well be made. Remember when people were saying Floyd wouldn't fight Cotto (and I distinctly recall you being excited when the fight was made), and when Cotto broke free from his contract, he got the Floyd fight. To me, that says that Floyd will not do business with Arum. Pure and simple, and Manny's too much of a nice guy to turn his back on the man who's given him all the fame and fortune.
I've said this numerous times (and even before the whole Pac-Floyd dream match was conceived). The reason Floyd sells is because of his undefeated record and his demeanor.
Would he still sell in a comeback fight? Absolutely. Would it sell as much as before? Never, unless it's an immediate rematch to someone who knocked him out or roughed him up en route to a wide decision while it making entertaining.
Floyd sells because people hold on to the hopes of him being humbled. They (the casual, watch one or two fights a year viewer) do not care for his skills or achievements. They zoom in on the '0' and hope it changes to '1'. That's all it is.
On an added note, boxing is not dead but to support the argument with "boxing is selling more ppv's than ever before" is flawed. A gigantic portion of PPV revenue is attributed to Floyd.
iron mike is the real deal, he's not something like fraud jr. he's genuine as a person can get. he fought everybody and never afraid to face worthy opponents.
you're just blinded by your man-love with a ducker like fraud jr.
Your mistake was making a useless point about the "sport of gentlemen" and then touting Mime Tyson of all people as some kind of paragon. Tyson was the face of boxing while being a convicted rapist, not fighting Bowe as he was from the same neighbourhood and paying Lewis step aside money to face the mighty Frank Bruno (he confessed he was always wary of Lewis). Tyson was on helluva fighter but he had his flaws like most do. To champion him, especially on a personal level, while hating on others is as ignorant as it gets. As you were.

Lmao junior gong got own in this thread :lol1::lol1:
A bunch of floyd fluffers smearing themselves with crap adds up to an 'ownage' in your head?
and two floyd f@g boys are of course in disagreement.
yea having your fans pay $50-70 just to see your best players is a bad thing.
:lol1: at not being a valid comparison. I mean is boxing still a sport or not?
if boxing is still a sport then i stand by posts that ppvs are bad for boxing and that having your fans have to pay $50-70 just to see your best athletes is bad in the long run.
Its a short sighted money grab rationalized as a way to continue business in boxing.
But go right ahead floyd stans, revel in ppv #s.
Only in boxing can fans of certain fighters be so happy charging fans 50-70 bucks to watch their best players.
I mean i shouldnt be surprised, these are the same type of people who would literally kill for floyd.
sad situation.
Show me one time I made ANY comment on PPV numbers, chump. I didn't. Individual sports like boxing are different compared to uhhhhhh....team sports. And I still stand by my first post that your "comparison" was/is asinine. But keep posting the same ole boring drivel that you always post with no substance. Wanna talk about a stan. You post more about Floyd than most people on this site. Hell out of here
Yes.
Floyd is an idiot, and all his bumchums disappear if he gets a L on his record.
Majority of people only watch him to see him lose, unfortunately he knows how to pick his opponents and we the fans pay to see hoping to see that spectacular KO of him.
so if you only buy his fights to see him lose how do you get suckered into buying a fight against someone who can't win? you'd have to be pretty fcking stupid to buy.
You can't be that stupid. Oh, you are from Manchester. Your mad about khan not getting the fight.
I get it.
