I hope they have a rematch. I still wouldn't care who wins, as long as its a hard fought war. I know a guy who trains with Israel and i'm going to ask him to ask Israel why he quit. Though I know he couldn't breath, a mexican is never supposed to quit, no matter what.QUOTE]
There is another BS. Israel is there to fight and at the same time - TO MAKE A LIVING. He is not in the military. You're there to try to win and not die. He showed heart at the end of the 5th round after he momentarily turned his back for whatever it was. He fought back started throwing wildly. He knew he had little chance, so why risk it more. Save it for next time.
DAMN. I don't even have Showtime and had to order it just to see the fight.
How big is Rafa. He looked kinda big . Anyway, good fight. Though I was rooting for Israel.
Either of these guys will rule 122 for a while.
I only saw the first six rounds and I had it 4-2 Carvajal. I gave the first and third to Aiken although the 3rd was very close and Carvajal pressed the action. Aiken landed those three or four solid shots to the head.
But for Aiken, who Atlas said already fought jr lightweight and even jr welter, I expected him to at least kd the much smaller Carvajal . Aiken is not going anywhere with what he showed last night.
props to Carvajal.
You kids are fucking brain-dead. I was in shock today when I read a post by some idiot who said-and I quote, “ODLH is not Mexican, and he never will be”. I couldn’t believe it at first, but after I finished clearing my eyes, I realized that that cock-sucker was actually being serious.
Y’all don’t know the difference between race, nationality, and ethnicity so I’m a brake it down for ya; make it sound real simple for ya. (By the way, it is kind of sad that/if you don’t know this already)
1) Oscar IS Mexican. What the fuck else would he be you dumb fuck. American is NOT a race.
2) I repeat, being born in a different country from your parents doesn't mean that transform into another race, dickhead.
3) Mexican is NOT a race. It is an ethnic group. Its part of the Latino race, you moron.
4) Oscar is a United States citizen; that doesn't mean he is white and not Mexican because he wasn't born in Mexico.
5) Just to give you an example; Selma Hayek is NOT Mexican. She was born in Mexico, but she is NOT Mexican. Her father is Spanish (Spain) and her mother is Lebanese. Therefore she is half Spanish, Lebanese. She is a Mexican citizen. That is her nationality, not race.
People like David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, and Tito Trinidad are of the Latino race. Not Black, not Puerto-Rican, not Dominican. Their heritage is African. They were born in their respected countries (PR, DR) but it doesn’t mean that their race is Puerto Rican, Dominican, or Even African (black). They are Afro-Latinos.
Believe me when I say this, there are TONS more white/fair-skinned Puerto-Ricans and Dominicans then there are Black. The Black ones are usually the poorest, so they come to the United States in droves looking for a better life and more opportunity. That is the main reason you see a lot of Afro-Latinos in the United States.
The Latino race is very rich and colorful, and the mainstream has A LOT to learn about us. Just because you see a lot of Afro-Ricans doesn’t mean that every Puerto-Rican has black in them. There are more Afro-Mexicans in Mexico alone then there are Afro-Ricans period. It’s not even close.
Class dismissed.
That is what I don't understand. He is always being disowned by a lot of Mexicans. He is an American citizen by birth. But nobody can take away his Mexican roots as it is in his blood and he is Mexican by RACE. I like the guy a lot as he is one of the most humble champions in the sport. What's not to like about him except if you're jealous of what he's accomplished.
The thread title alone, along with the other thread of the same content are already RACIAL in nature.
Why do a lot of Mexicans hate Oscar? I read a lot of posts here and just blurt out their dislike of ODLH. Is it because he beat one of Mexico's atg in JCC.
I'm a Filipino and I grew up following Foreman, then SRL, then Oscar in the 1990s. I also remember rooting for anybody fighting Tyson. Not that I did not like Tyson, just that he was so damn good. The only time I rooted for Tyson was his fight agaist Lewis.
But yes, I've seen a lot of hatred in these boards not really towards the fighters. But towards each other as both sides seem to not agree when discussing their favorite fighters.
Harder than the shots Tyson put him on his ass with? That was one of the craziest combos ever!
I've always rooted for whoever Tyson fought. And Pinklon was the only real guy who did not run away and exchanged punches with Tyson. The guy lasted for as long as he did and I loved him for that. He's a tough guy.
It's still 50/50. Pac may have ko-ed him the last time, Erik still is very dangerous. I don't see a KO this time.
Whatever happens, Pac lose or win, he gets a hefty paycheck.  Though I hope he wins to further his legacy and future purses.
if this is true,i wonder if floyd will take it
If the offer is that big, it would be very hard to understand why would PBF refuse it. With a dismal showing he put up last weekend, he needs a good showing to redeem himself. Any fight with Oscar is always good. Oscar is the biggest draw in boxing today. If PBF beats him convincingly, he might just end to be the biggest draw when ODLH retires.
i can see it happening... even if mayweather would fight Wladimir Klitschko and ko's him in the first round people would still say mayweather needs to fight a true contender and wlad had the disadvantage because ..blah blah blah.. and so on
I'd give all the credit in the world to PBF and of course discredit Margo with all the shit talks he made.
Though boxing is a sport, it is also a business. People pay to see it And that's how boxers make big money. PBF has to give what people want and not selectively hand-pick his opponents. In the end, though you may have the best record, it will be the people judging you. Ali does not have the best record, but majority still considers him the greatest.
One of the best "light weights" of all time.
No more, no less. I would just mention his other fights in the higher divisions, but to just give icing to his light-weight career. But if he started fighting and beating what boxing fans wanted to see, then it will change my opinion of him.
how could u not mention my man WRIGHT vs trinidad??? that was an annilation!!!
I'd say Foreman-Frazier.
Though both fight ended very early, it was very clearly on both fights that it was no match. Foreman was way too big and too much for Frazier. He just toyed with Frazier in both fights.
You cant put on a dismal showing by winning every round you idiot.
Boxing is a business idiot. I did not watch the fight but as many posters have said, people started leaving even before it ended. Only PBF fanatics would buy that crap on PPV.
PPVs don't get that many sponsors. They rely mainly on the number of PPV buys. If he keeps on putting on that kind of crap that evrybody mentioned, nobody will buy his future PPVs. That will slice a big chunk out of his purse. No promoter would pay him big money if they know they'll never get it back.
Simple. Pacman does not want to fight in March. He wants to take some time off and feels that March is too soon for him. GBP already had that March 17 locked up and Manny does not want to commit to that.
How much do titles mean for boxers these days? If you were like Baldo, it probably meant a lot . But for named fighters, big fights and big money talks. They don't need the titles. Boxing has become business first, the sport second.
These threads always end up being Philippines vs Mexico. And too much insult on both sides. Though sometimes funny, but a lot of times ridiculous.
Just keep the discussions to "about" the fighters. You guys all sound so tough. Why, it's the internet.. You guys are all pathetic.
I know for a fact that after the fight, some of you guys will post even more. And some will be posting way less.
WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG    . lololololololol.
That's one thing I got to give to him. For his size, he could have stayed at lower weights like other fighters did. He surely would have dominated 135lbs probably even 140. And for a lot of obvious reasons, he could have been the all time best at those weights.
He knows for his size when he moved up, he had to be selective with his opponents.
that what they used to do. It is safer now....you getting the picture?
Very true. Fighters drain themselves just to make weight. Only PBF I know usually walks around the weight he fights at. Unless of course the heavy weights.
Though I must admit that most who watch Nascar are whites, your phrase was just way out of line.
I'm a Filipino and I do watch Nascar SOMETIMES. Millions of people watch Nascar and it is them that they try to reach out to. They do not need to reach out to regular boxing fans as most of them already know about this match. They just try sell to non-boxing fans that there is another great action-packed sport out there besides Nascar.
If you watch their first fight, in retrospect, there was absolutely no reason to think Morales could have beaten Pacquiao the second time around. Pacquiao was giving Morales hell nearly every round, even while wiping at his cut throughout the whole second half of the fight. Morales did not win as clearly as I previously thought. Now I did give Pacman pretty much all the rounds that seemed close (because he hits so ridiculously hard, you can't give Morales a round unless he outlands Pacquiao in power punches). Most of the fight, Morales is landing killer jabs, but Pacquiao's power punching completely negates it. The right hook was a monster for Pacquiao in this fight. I have it 115-113 for Morales just like the judges, but this fight was damn close, unanimous decision or not...and remember, that's WITH Pacquiao's horrible cut. Sure, Morales probably could have won easier had he not turned southpaw in the 12th, but that's just who he is, and you gotta love Morales for it. He didn't wanna coast at the end. He wanted to close the show with a bang, and every fan in that arena had to be thankful for that.
I'd forgotten how much I love this fight, but watching it again, especially now, it's so obvious that Pacquiao could have won that fight and would definitely win a rematch (which he did). Morales takes way more damage in the fight, and it probably hurt his career big time, but if he hadn't fought Pacquiao, we all would be debating what would have happened years later. As it stands, Morales stood toe to toe with one of the hardest punchers p4p in the sport and survived a hell of a fight. I actually picked Pacquiao to win the first one, then picked Morales to win the rematch, going against my gut feeling both times. Morales is a true warrior and a real man for taking on Pacquiao when Barrera wouldn't, but Pacquiao was simply too much for him.
I do agree on this one. I'm a Pac fan and thought Morales won convincingly when I watched it live. I thought then that Pac needed both rounds 11 and 12 to just get a draw. But he lost 11.
I just recently watched the tape, and the fight wasn't as one-sided as I thought it was. But I still scored it the same. But some of the later rounds were too close to close. But I still gave them to Morales. And Rd12 of that fight is what we were to see in the next two fights.
I THINK YOUR MOTHER WILL DO A NO MAS AFTER I STICK MY MEXICAN DICK IN HER .....YOU BITCH MADE AS ***** ........................GTFO ...NO MAS.... Signed 'The Police :cop:
nedals hussain hurt and knocked down pacman, why cant eric do it ???
No shit. I saw that fight and Pac really got hurt with just that one punch landed on his nose as his eyes really crossed. And the fight being in the Philippines, I think the ref counted quite slowly. And that fight was the dirtiest I've seen. It was more of a UFC type fight than boxing.
Eric can always catch Manny the way Hussein had. But Eric, no matter how prepared he is physically, will be more phsycologically cautious than ever after the last beating.
Morales said he couldnt stand the singing of manny he said his voice is ugly!
well listen for your self the pacman singing in english! do you think he should sing to distract morales?
by the way i didnt know pacman was worth 38 million us dollars damn!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1DRg-Gx-zE
No, I don't think he's worth that much. It would be nice if he is. Unless they counted the seven fights to come.
He is estimated around P330M, so that's about $6 to $7M. But back in the Philippines, that's way a lot already.
Zahir Raheem, who isnt that great, pooped on him.
Morales isnt scared, he is just too small for 135.
Who said he is too small for LW. The guy is 5'8" tall and walks around 160lbs when not boxing. He's even bigger than some guys at 135 or even 140lbs.
I never take anything he accomplished in the past, But like what I said before on some other threads, EM is just too big to have stayed in the lower weights for a long time. He just loved toying with smaller fighters. I guess I somehow question his toughness. Once he thought of getting in the ring with a known puncher, he asked his opponent to wear a different set of gloves. He always wanted to be in the advantage. He never really fought against a much bigger guy.
If he really wanted to move up, he would have moved up a long time ago. He's drained at 130lbs, and I don't think he believes he can compete at 135. Unless he asks everybody to put more paddings on their gloves.
Morales isn't skillfull enough?
you dont know Eric. :alucard:
I wouldn't 100% say he isn't skillful. But he loves to trade and pretty much leaves out his defense. His best defense actually is slugging it out and hopefully his opponent will back out. I don't think that will ever work with the bigger guys.
