Or he's just scared?
I mean he only just have one fight in the LW Division, but Raheem schooled him, and now theyre saying LW is too big for him.
Is LW too big for him or is that Raheem was just the better fighter? Is just one fight enough gauge for the Morales camp to abandon their plans for a LW campaign. So much noise have been generated by Erik's inability to scale down safe to SFW because they said that his body right now is that of a NATURAL lightweight, yet theyre avoiding that division.
Im an Erik fan too, but his camp need not to make dumb excuses. The move to LW is inevitable. Its either they face it or Erik retires.
Morales isn't skillfull enough?
you dont know Eric. :alucard:
I wouldn't 100% say he isn't skillful. But he loves to trade and pretty much leaves out his defense. His best defense actually is slugging it out and hopefully his opponent will back out. I don't think that will ever work with the bigger guys.
morales isnt skillfully enough to keep moving up in weight...just like castillo just like margarito and vargas..he dosent fair well against people his size he's taller then mayweather

I agree 100%. Raheem didn't exactly beat Morales, it's just his lucky day, and Eric had his bad night. Every Eric fans thought he would easily win that fight, but he did not. Eric thought he could manhandle Raheem, but he did not, Raheem did not want to fight him toe to toe, he hits and he runs, I even thought he slips in purpose to avoid being hit. Eric had just his bad night, like Barrera against Pac.
Why would Raheem fight him toe to toe? That would have been stupid and rediculous and would have been the wrong fight. Raheem DID beat morales underestimation or not. I think Zab definately underestimated Baldomir, but Baldomir beat him without a doubt in my mind.
Morales underestimated Raheem and took the fight knowing that Pacman was his next opponent. He took Raheem lightly and paid the price but it was not schooling. Raheem did not exactly beat him up. Erik's mind was not on that fight...it was on Pacman's.

Who said he is too small for LW. The guy is 5'8" tall and walks around 160lbs when not boxing. He's even bigger than some guys at 135 or even 140lbs.
I never take anything he accomplished in the past, But like what I said before on some other threads, EM is just too big to have stayed in the lower weights for a long time. He just loved toying with smaller fighters. I guess I somehow question his toughness. Once he thought of getting in the ring with a known puncher, he asked his opponent to wear a different set of gloves. He always wanted to be in the advantage. He never really fought against a much bigger guy.
If he really wanted to move up, he would have moved up a long time ago. He's drained at 130lbs, and I don't think he believes he can compete at 135. Unless he asks everybody to put more paddings on their gloves.
hhhmmmm very good observation there. he KO'ed a bigger Rodney Jones even...
hhmmmm i wonder what excuse ferocity would have to come up now

Morales is not a small guy. He is average height and walks around at 160-170 lbs. IMO cutting weight to make 135 is not too small. He can hold his own at 135. He just doesnt have the power at that weight.
wtf makes you think erik will fight raheem again? whats ur proof?
the thread doesnt talk about revenge rather on how morales would really like to place himself. thats it. youre the one who's ignorant.
ohh... sorry i didnt read who you are...hmmm youre ferocity.. so i guess this isnt a surprise for one of boxingscene's biased posters... sorry my bad
I got the post press conference where Morales says, i will fight Raheem again, but first im obligated to fight pacuqioa -for the 2nd time- after that fight i promise i will fight Raheem again.
Now that Raheem lost i honestly don't know if people still want to see him fight Raheem or if Morales still does, but i wouldn't doubt that he will fight Raheem after his win over pacquiao.
Want to see the video? I thought so.
Zahir Raheem, who isnt that great, pooped on him.
Morales isnt scared, he is just too small for 135.

i honestly think that 135 is too big for morales and that 130 is too small, erik is a rock stuck in a hard place.
he's killing himself to make 130, but the guys at 135 are too big for him to really a level playing field with them. guys at 135 are usually dropping weight to fight there, and although morales weighs more, it's not his natural fighting weight, morales has gainned weight from maturing and getting older, there is a big difference. erik has moved up from 126 which when he was fighting there he was walking around at 135-140, no he's weighing more than that in between fights, his small frame isnt' really set to fight at 135. he will get bullied at that weight. the end is coming soon in the great career of erik morales.
exactly! this is more like it.
erik is a great fighter but they dont know where to place him. if he thinks LW is too big for him, i say his camp is scared.
I didn't think you were as ignorant as your buddy benjamin. Congratulations you're now on benjamins level.
If Morales would have defeated, pacquiaoa, he would have rematched Raheem. Now Morales wants revenge and after his win, he will fight Raheem. Morales didn't take Raheem seriously and it was no schooling.

With Corrales and Castillo out of the picture I think he has a good chance of been champion at 135, He has never said he didnt want to fight in the 135 division, as a matter of fact he wanted to fight manny at 35. Raheem is a joke I dont know how anybody can like his style he's hell of booring and sloppy.
I don't think Morales is too big to fight at 130 lbs. He only struggles to make that weight because he lets his self go when he is not training. The guy walks around 160 lbs. I don't think he's too small for 135lbs neither. He just picked the wrong opponent. I will not say he got or did not get schooled. But Raheem did hit him at will and had a clean face after the fight. Finally, no I don't Morales is scared. The guy lives in Zona Norte, Tijuana. For my peeps from Philippines, imagine Tondo back in the old days. That's the environment Morales lives in. So scared, I don't think so.
I agree. Morales underestimated Raheem and took the fight knowing that Pacman was his next opponent. He took Raheem lightly and paid the price but it was not schooling. Raheem did not exactly beat him up. Erik's mind was not on that fight...it was on Pacman's.
Count me in on the OPINION that Morales DID not take Raheem seriously and seemed to have NO PLAN in that fight... I think if he is well prepared he could fight well at 135... I worry about his power and I am sure he would have to be more a boxer than brawler at that Level... But he has the skills to compete at least if not dominate
i think Erik will do a lot better at 135, against guys like Juan Diaz, Chavez and Casamayor
and i dont think it was the size the loose him the raheem fight, its more of the style makes fight, plus the fact he was looking pass that fight ...
If you were rooting for Morales how can you not like what Morales was doing when he did the hand thing. He basicly held only hand down and the other in mid air and it was king of funny to see Raheem just run away from Morales. What surprised me is how effective that startagy was in the last rounds. It was as if Morales was chassing Raheem with a knife and Raheem was running away as to not get stabed.
I wasnt enjoying it because i looked bad when he lost, and i lost money, and this kind of shit wasnt winning him the fight, it was a sign of frustration and defeat because there was nothing he could do and he knew it, so he bullshitted and it just made him (and me) look worse.
And maybe my memory isnt correct, but i remember Raheem catching morales real bad and he almost went down.
His power and chin do not carry over.
Raheem rocked his face off, and he never phased Raheem.
It was more of a stylistic problem. Awkward southpaw can make anyone look bad. Morales was hit often but never reallly hurt.

Morales did NOTHING effective the entire night.
Raheem won easily on the cards.
