That doesn't mean Leonard deserves to be ranked at Middleweight. Having 3 fights at Middleweight doesn't make you one of the greatest there. Would Leonard have beaten Hopkins? I would say yes actually.
I have Bernard about 6 on my list.
1. Marvin Hagler
2. Harry Greb
3. Carlos Monzon
4. Bob Fitzsimmons
5. Stanly Keetchel
6. Bernard Hopkins
7. Sugar Ray Robinson
8. Jake Lamotta
9. Charley Burley
10. Gene Fullmer
I love the technical aspect of the game and love watching outboxers and find it exiciting. It's a different kind from a slugger, but I perfer to watch it.
So yeah I find Winky Wright exciting. The only type of boxing I hate to watch is when they don't throw punches (example: Cory Spinks vs Jermain Taylor)
Eh, no. Margarito has done as much as Quintana at 147. Quintana got smoked by Cotto which would never happen to Tony. Mosley just lost, and is old and fading. Only Cotto and Floyd are CLEARLY above Margarito at 147. The others are just arguable.
He's 3rd best because of his entire sheet, not his last two wins. If we were going on last two fights Williams and Mosley would BOTH be out of the top.
But Williams beat Margarito. You have to him higher at Welter. I don't care whether or not Cotto smoked Quintana earlier. He beat Williams who beat Margarito. You have to put him above Williams, who you have to put above Margarito.
Also Mosley had a VERY close bout with Cotto so that puts him still in the top 3.
Just because you got smoked eariler, doesn't mean you can't have a career turn a round and that's what Carlos Quintana is
Though I'm talking about for Lineage.
They don't recognize the WBO is part of unification so it screws up the whole Erdei being the lineal champion thing.
What counts from Today's era? From 2000 up? From 1990 up?
I don't think anyone could beat him at Welterweight (though some people could give him some competitiveness), but Jones, Hopkins, and maybe even a really well condition toney would beat him at Middle.
From what I've seen of Robinson at Middle, he got hit way to much and was way too inconsistent, but that's because he was like 38. Robinson still had GREAT combinations, a great jab, and a vicious RIGHT. It shows great glimpses of his former self at Welter, but Jones and Hopkins would still beat him.
Jones because people will forget/make a less of a deal about not fighting DM and people will recongize him for his talent.
Also not having Bernard Hopkins on that list and having fucking Prince Naseem Hamed and Wladimir Klitchsko on there is a disgrace.
Bullshit. If Cotto wants to fight in Vegas he should have to fight by the rules.
If anything 10 oz gloves would be better for him then 8 oz...This raises questions like can Cotto punch with 10 oz? It's better for the fans if it's 10 oz gloves. More punches thrown because Cotto is less likely to get hurt or break a hand.
Why won't they fight with 10 oz gloves? Keither Kizer should never agree to this.
You can blame him for that actually. He should have offered Winky more money insted of 4 million. He was #2 p4p at the time and offering him 4 less then Floyd is stupid.
I don't think he ever made an offer to Zab Judah. Never fought Collazo (who was willing to fight him). Margarito could have done more with his resume. A LOT MORE.
Uppercut to the chin or perfect body shot to the liver hurt the most.
Worst one you could probably take is right on the temple or even worse a rabbit punch to the back of the head.
Good post, I still feel however, that Roy's style is more suited to Calzaghe than Hopkins' was. It should be very interesting, I hope it's at 168 unless they can fight for the vacated WBA belt.
Why? People still recognized Hopkins as the champion at 175. He doesn't need an alphabet title when he's got the ring. Especially the WBA.
Well your posts are a lot easier to read now so good job, but I have two problems.
1. Roy Jones opposition in 1994-2002 is not WTF. It's definietly better then Mayweather at 140 and his last two fights at 135.
2. 36 Shane Mosley was STILL very good. He was equally as good as De La Hoya if maybe not better.
How can Margarito be a top 3 Welterweight? He's lucky to make the top 5.
Floyd
Cotto
Shane
Quintana
Williams
Would be my top 5. Or maybe Quintana at 6 and Margarito at 5 moving Wiliams up to 4. Moving him up to the 3rd best just because he beat Golden Johnson and Kermit Cintron do NOT make you top 3.
Antonio Margarito is the most overrated fighter ever. I will give him credit though for having good technical skills while infighting, but that's it. He has a pretty shitty resume too.
Mayweathers resume at 130 and 135 is legendary.
I think this is sarcasm, but I would really have to agree with the 130 comment. Not so much with the 135 since he never faced Spadafora, but he was the shit at 130.
That's a shame Bernard because you could really use that money to get your teeth fixed.
And if it isn't about money, why did you originally want 60-40 :lol1:
Yeah, too bad the fight can't be at 168 for all Joe's belts and undisputed title. But of course that would give Joe an advantage, heaven forbid.
More like Joe didn't want to have the task of making 168 again. Heaven forbid. Joe doesn't care if this is at 168 because he's been looking for an excuse to move up, and you shouldn't either.
It could do more if promoted more, but it won't and a lot of boxing fans wouldn't pay for this.
I'm going with around 220k though because Pacquiao is still a huge star.
