The fight is scheduled for 6.28.08 so Pacquiao's momentum from the thrilling all time classic bout he won against Juan Manuel Marquez is certainly going to carry over. He is arguably the most exciter fighter in Boxing and can be found along side other sports stars in the newest Nike commercial. So how many buys do you think the fight will do?
Most of my friends watch UFC and don't really follow boxing but they said they order all pacquiaos fights so ya he def is a name I wonder why UFC fans like him so much maybe cause he doesn't have a style and is wreckless?
he has a style.
even wreckless is a style.
i have a heart attack everytime he gets countered hard though...... thank god his chin is pretty good. hopefully he has a 135 lb. chin.
casual fans dont really follow weight classes nor do they even follow belts. you'd be hardpress to find a casual fan that knew trinidad moved up in weight to challenge Hopkins. they just know names and Pacquaio is certainly a name now.
yeah but when they promote or write about the fight people will say manny is fighting the "lightweight champion" david diaz which will generate a little more interest. not a lot but some interest.
The good undercard would just be a bonus for people who would buy it anyways.
I mean look at all the big fights. Some have good undercards, but the crowd hasn't arrived yet.
Think about when you are at a party watching the fight. People are messing around until the main event comes on anyways.
The problem is Diaz. Not many know him. And those that do, are like which Diaz again?
I will say around 300k and that's all because of Pac.
Yeah you are right but, when I go to fights I get there when the first fight starts , thats about 5-6 fight before the PPV even starts and then maybe 3 on the PPV. Like I mentioned before"maybe on another thread" There are times when the undercard is better than the main event. Or let's say Mijares and Arce did a rematch It would pull More Mexican viewers than lets say Diaz followers. That's why I wanted to know if there are any fights on the undercard already.
i think they do 300k. i think boxing people are curious to see how manny handles 135 and all the mainstream knows is the diaz is a CHAMPION at lightweight. diaz seems like a decent guy and i'm happy he's getting a nice payday but i want him to get smashed for beating erik. i think it could've gone erik's way and a belt at 135 would've been a great way for that legend to end his career.
someone mentioned donaire-montiel or a khan fight. i want to see nonito donaire get some more airtime i think he's more skilled than manny. i'd rather see chavez jr.'s progression over khan's though! i want the boy to live up to his fine pedigree......

It won't get 300k. Pacquiao has spent more time trying to fend off Marquez than hyping this fight. Most of the buys will come from Pac Man fans, and that won't be too much anyway.
I don't see them hitting 200K's unless they have a good undercard. And I mean GOOD! I haven't heard any possibilities for the undercard... anyone know if there are fights on it yet?

umm, there ARE more latinos than filipinos in the states. mexicans are fans of ANYONE willing to fight like a True Mexican Warrior.
agreed.
xcaret , pay attention to what a knowledgeable opinion looks like.
I think it will do around 300-350k or even 400k cause I heard pacman is coming here next week to sign some contracts and later will do a 4 city tour chicago, san francisco, texas, and vancouver canada or something.
so that would help the buys this time.
the funny thng is the MEXICANS are pacmans number 1 ppv buyers in the states...my friend just told me yesterday when pacman fought larios and solis 60 percent of the buys came from Latinos.

It will make 300k I hope they stack the undercard because I don't see that fight being to intriguing.
any news on nonito-montiel being on the undercard? would that interest you? i like the donaire kid.
i'm buying it anyway no matter who's on the undercard but seeing donaire would be icing on the cake for me. or maybe chavez jr.? i want to see big things out of julio's kid.
it wasnt that bad. You already know what to expect with Michael Bay movies, all flash, little substance.
agreed. it was pretty fun to watch. that brunette chick didn't hurt the viewing experience for me either.
besides...... it's based on a cartoon for god sakes! you expect an academy award?
Its gonna be like watching Transformers The Movie you know its gonna be a shitty movie but youre curious enough to watch it anyway :D
i hope it's a shitty movie.
because if manny doesn't bring his pop at 135...... it could start looking like a great horror movie to me!!!
i don't want to see manny struggle unless it's with a juan diaz (considered top 135 by myself. just a bad night or matchup with nate) or ricky hatton (big money for manny's retirement fund and a natural featherweight's loss to the lineal junior welterweight champion won't hurt his resume or legacy)
