BOXING is DEAD! UFC killed it....

I don't think boxing is dead. BTW, UFC/MMA is whack. I can't stand it.

Everywhere I go I see these white boys with there tap out shirts and talking about how they can ground and pound an wrestle a guy....i never seen fight sports so popular i was one of the few watching BOXING and older ufc....but it seems UFC crushed boxing becuase all these wanna be tough frat boys now walking around in the mall talking about it... and the ratings prove it... I like mma and boxing but BOXING is dead.... Its all the greedy promoters faults....they are dumb they could of made more money showing free fights 2 times a month on a regular station like ABC, NBC, CBS etc....but they want that quick fix from a ppv. its lame. now ask yourself if mma was not watered down & on da s p i k e channel would it be popular? course not. mma suks...ufc was WAY better & only on ppv.

MMA puts on better shows without a doubt. There undercard fights are the best going against the best..

I think that MMA is close to total domination in terms of viewing audience. I know some boxing matches are getting some serious buys, but those typically are not the fights that would attract more fans. MMA typically has plenty of action that is easy to understand. Many people have touched on the glove issue. Could we imagine Pac wearing those tiny gloves and slugging it out with someone. Lights out in no time. MMA fans also realize NO ONE is K.O. proof. Boxing fans are far less forgiving. Also, it is VERY important that UFC in particular has undergone MAJOR rules changes that make the sport more enjoyable for fans. The UFC today is a shell of its earlier self. At its inception there were NO rounds or gloves. Many matches consisted of 30 minutes tied in a knot on the mat. At the end of the day boxing needs to make better match ups, put great fights on prime time tv, do better promotion of fighters in terms of name recognition, among other things. It NEEDS a reinvention! I will always love boxing! Boxing is its own worst enemy right now.

thats because a lot of meatheads think that they can 'ground and pound' someone out. The typical 'new' mma fan probably has no idea about stuff like jiu jitsu/submissions/sprawling/muay thai clinches, etc. Of course it's easier to try to tackle someone and punch them out than it is to beat the living shit out of them using just your fists.

the more i get into boxing in the last couple years the more and more i hate the UFC. i watch it and can still enjoy it from time to time. but boxing is better in so many levels . . .

if the money ever goes to mma from boxing.. african americans will dominate that too Correction, Eastern Europeans will dominate, like they already do.

i love boxing but there is more competetive bouts in mma. i watch both. there is also no career management by fighters in mma. that is whats killing boxing.

Boxing was dead LONG before UFC came on the scene...and you can blame the cowardly "just here to pick up my paycheck and eke out a win" boxers and "just dont give a f***" promoters for that!

boxing is dead... but the top fighters get paid just as much as the the stars in other sports.... lol Mayweather could get like, 15 million bucks for one fight against DLH. when was the last time a guy made that kind of money in one night? lol That's true but what about the up and comers? Mayweather used to fight on FREE TV, HBO is not FREE TV. All of the PPV Stars today you could've seen for free back in the day. And that's why they have a lot of fans today. Now, what about the up and comers coming up who can't fight on a network like CBS to build a fanbase? Nobody wants to fight guys like Chad Dawson because of money, Dawson really isn't known. Evn Kelly Pavlik isn't really that big of a superstar outside of Yougnstown. What will happen when all of the current stars retire? Hard to say.
