i dont hate PBF in fact i like him a lot...(i dislike the PBF that fought Baldomir and DLH, though...)
but i like pernell more because IMO he was more skilled and fought and beat everyone...
Couldnt have said it better. Karma for you!
And.... Not even close to either Ray.
What turns me off about UFC is everyone and there mama claims to know BJJ. Also, I just dont find the ground game as interesting in MMA anymore. I know alot of the moves and it was fun learning them and I know it takes alot of skill to pull them off. But its just boring alot of the time and seems like their just down there catching a breather. Yes they keep active. But its nothing compared to being active in just plain wrestling or boxing. You take a break and your done. I wrestled in high school and it was very fun. And I was good at it. But keep wrestling wrestling. Keep boxing boxing. Keep BJJ BJJ. Lets see the best of best go at it in there specialty. Not a combo of half this half that and not really good at either. If I saw too guys fighting at a bar or on the street and it went to the ground and they were wrestling or ground game as mma's would call it. I would seriously laugh or want to kick one of them. 30 seconds on the ground...???? Id tell them to get the f up and box. I dont want to watch men wrestling on the ground when there suppose to be fighting. Get the f up and kick some fn ass. I dont want to see you laying on top of each other grabing legs and arms. Or someone on the ground with his legs wrapped around the other guys back while pulling his head into his chest. But a good rear naked choke or guillotine is always fun if its pulled right away :) You try to put me an armbar or choke me out in the street....well expect a Mike Myson bite coming. I got sharp teeth too. Or some eye gouges. Box me and go toe to toe biatch. Call me old fashion... but fighting is done standing the f up. I watch UFC often. It was interesting getting into it at first. I actually even went to some classes to learn it. There is a lot involved. A whole lot. It does take alot of skill on the ground. But its just not my flavor. Ive given it a chance... but the more I watch it... the more I see how lame alot of it is. The top guys are top and are awesome to watch. But all the fillers are just lame. Another thing that gets me is watching guys train so hard for months just to get ko'd by a kick in 30 seconds or get choked out. I like boxing because it makes me feel like if i ever got into it with someone I know its on. Learning the ground game beyond the basic's wont really do anything for you in a live situation IMO (yes my opinion). Sprawling and choking on top of boxing skills I feel will be more than adequate enough for me for real life situations. What stuck with me is what I read when a boxing analyst went up against a UFC analyst. The boxing analyst mentioned that all the crowds at UFC bloodlust. And if you look at the crowd, it's the same crowd you would see at a WWF. I looked at it and he was right. All they want is to see blood and big KO. I personally like to watch someone who has tried to perfect a skill with style, grace power. I mean you can see right away if a boxer has the sweet science down. You can see it in his footwork, speed, power and form. UFC has no form. Its a free for all everyone has there different form and technique. Which usually ends up looking sloppy. It is more diverse... but I dont care for it's diversity. I want to see a specific skill being perfected. The sweet science. Sorry for the long post. No disrespect intended toward MMA fighters.
Yoel Judah by far...
Yoel Judah!!!. Its a tie between Roach and Emmanuel for me. I think Emmanuel has THE best advice during the fights but can sometimes be too calm. I also think Roach's training and concepts outside of the ring are the best. He always has his fighters prepared for war.
All you haters are just jealous of Tye's clear championship ability in the ring.
He will unify the belts by the end of 2008!
I really needed that laugh!!! Thanks!
exactly....................
and i here what you're saying, shit does change, but the fact of the matter was that his retirement was a ploy.
and also if he does make the fights we want to see cool, but really as a whole boxing doesn't need floyd mayweather, boxing needs guys that bring exciting fights not only to the hardcore fans such as ourselves but to the mainstream, floyd wont transcend the sport like barerra or morales did, or how pacquiao is doing, or how hatton is doing. nothing along the lines of how DLH did it, or Foreman, Ali, Ray Robinson.........see what i'm saying????
floyd needs boxing to feed his attention starved ego, floyd needs boxing to get heard and to be seen, which he craves so desperately, floyd has gotten out of boxing way more then he's given to it.
Exactly. Boxing does not need selfish cowards like Floyd. His fights are not exciting. He is a runner. His style is cowardly. Like ive said many times. Stay retired and go broke gambling. We dont need you or your boring running fights anymore. I used to like you when you were hungry. Now your just a greedy little immature kid who thinks your all that but in fact... your just a coward little 50 cent wanna be loser. Your a joke just like your retirement.
Barrera is still good IMO too. I thought he did very well against JMM. Just wasnt active enough. He is still a good threat to PAC. I agree that Barrera would beat Guzman.
Roach said in his corner after every round. Go low stay low. You will notice that Penalosa landed a punch at almost the same exact place maybe 15-30 seconds before the big one. Gonzalez made a hurt face and was already having a hard time breathing. He hit the spot again to put him down. He was going body most of the fight and it worked.
Can anyone say "overrated"?
Overrated!!! PACman will Destroy Joan Guzman. I wouldnt even be surprised if Soto beats him in November. Guzman fought Bum's. Only guy worth mentioning is Barrios.
None of ANY of the Things people have mentioned matter.. IF we are not here discussing it..
More people are able to follow the sport becasue of the INTERNET..
When promoters make a press release Every Boxing site on the NET posts it..
Sports news dont cover it.. Most newspapers dont cover it..
The only REAL PRESS Boxing gets in on THE INTERNET...
Boxing has NO marketing stragey as a whole.. nor is it considered a top Sport
It's not taught in colleges.. people do NOT get Boxing scholarships..
Without the NET boxing would more Obscure than you can imagine.. And I doubt there would too many new fans ... This site alone is PROOF of what I am talking about..
The internet has been around for 10+ years. What makes this year different from 3 years ago? But I would have to agree. If it weren't for the internet I wouldnt know all the details I know now going into the fights.... which makes it 10 times better watching it.
pacquiao, thats what you wanted to hear right
LoL. I just wanted to know what you think. Thats all. I personally think its the UFC. Boxing had to become more competative.
BTW Pacquiao wasnt on the list. But he definately contributed.
Theres too much money still to be made if they both keep at there current weight. No need to face each other right now. Though it would be a great fight. But I really dont see a need for them to fight each other when theres still plenty of people within their own weight class to box.
Matt Hammil won every round against Bisping yet they gave the decision to the englishman Micheal Bisping. Probably due to him being a useful marketing tool for when they do a show in England like last night.
I only watched it because it was free on Setanta.
Yes that was PURE BS. Looks like UFC is gonna make the same mistakes boxing made.
I keep trying myself to like it. I have no choice as friends of mine are into it and watch it frequently. It is very hard to swallow. I wasnt impressed with any of the fights they showed and the more I see them on the ground taking breathers I just cringe.
I think it could be Mayweather. I think he is aware that his current image is damaging him and that is part the reason he agreed to do Dancing with the Stars. To fix his image. If he fairs well on the show and shows good face after the Hatton fight. He might just win back alot of his fans as well as gain many more including yo mama.
I hope this fight goes down, chances are it's Hopkins' last fight if it does. To beat Calzaghe OR Kessler after this victory would cement Hopkins legacy as perhaps one of the best EVER to put on a pair of gloves. He's already a legend and one of the best Middleweights ever, but this could seriously give him god-like status.
I agree. But I think BHop has more than one fight left. I give him 3. Winner of Joe and Pavlik then maybe Taylor to move up for a rematch.
Their hating because Pacman ate up their boys Barrera and Morales. They dont want to aid the Phillippines to beat their country. I like the Idea of the world cup, but it seems to be bringing hatred between Filipino's and Mexican's.
How can so many people pick Boom Boom by KO/TKO when De Leon has never been put on the canvas and he's fought fighters with more pop than Bautista?
I'm picking PDL by KO/TKO. This guy hits hard and Boom-Boom is going to get exactly that, boom-boomed. He's also the smaller man, having fought at 115 and 118 most of his career.
Not that Boom Boom's PAC, but Morales and Barrera never touched canvas either till they met PAC. Ponce gets KO'd. Rey looks much stronger today.
No takers on my 1k for Gerry Penalosa? PM me for bet. Then first one to post on this thread with the bet in sig gets it. I wont have internet cause ill be heading to SAC tonight for the showdown tomorrow! Only 1k :)
