Surely they are gonna cover that fight in the movie. I cant wait for that part and im sure Emanuel Augustus can't wait either. Who in the world would play that part though lol
I guess even if the film does end in 2000 we can still speculate as to who should play Zab Judah. Problem is that they will have to make him look badass as he did beat Ward.
Matt Wahlberg
MARK Wahlberg.
and i would not complain if augustus played himself, and even if gatti played himself. i would def watch that shit. im gonna watch it anyway, but it would sell more if those two were in it, gatti especially...
Its not necessarily just about Micky. Matter of fact it seems like they are focusing more on his brother. I agree that they should chronicle the Gatti fights since they were what Ward is most known for. His win over Gatti is much more important than a WBU title that isn't even recognized as an important belt. To call that a World Championship win is a complete joke.
Nobody can play Augustus but HIMSELF. He moves too strange for anybody else to simulate.
It would be stupid if this fight isn't at least mentioned in the movie. It's the setup for the whole Gatti Trilogy. Plus it was a FOTY.
Synopsis:
Life story of boxer "Irish" Mickey Ward and his trainer brother Dick Eklund, chronicling the brothers'' early days on the rough streets of Lowell, Massachusetts through Eklund''s battle with drugs and Ward''s eventual world championship in London.
Him winning WBU title in 2000 is probably the happy ending where they overcome Eklunds drug problems, tough childhood etc. Obliviously more of a human interest story than a film for boxing fans, as we all know that a WBU title is of much less consiquence than the fights after with Gatti and Augustus, but it kind of suggests to the audience that he 'made it'.
Just to warn you Wahlberg is playing Ward and Damon is playing his half-brother/trainer Dick Eklund. The film is focused around their relationship and the very early part of Wards career, and wrong as it sounds it probably wont feature Gatti or Augustus.
Why dont they just let augustus play himself, that way you get his style suited and he's a fighter so knows how to throw a punch.
True...Augustus IS a character.
you really think they'll cover it? they definently should, it was an awesome fight but im thinking they might not. They may skip it and go straight to the gatti fights. whos gonna play gatti.
idk. but i figure they gonna make a deal out of the fact that he won 3 straight FOTY's, so they gotta cover that one right?
Whoever plays whoever, its gonna be wierd seeing a guys career that i lived throught on the big screen
