Dear Boxing Public,
Of late I have had the pleasure of being able to associate myself with that of the Phillipines champions. Since my fight with Amonsot and my affiliation with the Philippines side when I lead them to victory against Mexico in the world cup, I believe it has created a lot of interest, that day in Sacramento I stood in place of Manny Pacquiao who could not be present, the question is then raised, 'who is the greatest'. I am 'the Great' and that is the mark I wish to establish today in the world of boxing. I mean no disrespect and admire Manny Pacquiao, but there can only be one, and time will tell.
Michael Katsidis
katsidis appears to have established a good bond with the filipino people.. they obviously appreciate his style and he has been quite receptive. i think the fight is definitely marketable.. definitely across asia.. definitely in the US.. and definitely in australia and greece. i think it's a good fight but id still prefer to see it happen further down the track.
Theres too much money still to be made if they both keep at there current weight. No need to face each other right now. Though it would be a great fight. But I really dont see a need for them to fight each other when theres still plenty of people within their own weight class to box.
what makes you think he can't handle pac's power and not the other way around? out of interest not disagreeing or anything..
also moving up to fight an interim champ gets pack another weight division belt etc..
if katsidis was talking about moving down to fight him (which i doubt he could) pac may as well fight one of the bigger names at 130
pacman has never had a fighter stand in front of him, willing to take everything he throws, willing to take his best shots just to land a few of his own, none stop attack for 12 rounds. a stronger guy imposing his will on him with no fear ...
i don't think he can deal with paquiaos power and why do they have to fight at 135 if he wants to fight paquiao why don't they fight at 130
thats whats good about the Lightweight division. I've actually began to follow it more closely cuz of Nate Campbell and the Juan Diaz fight being on HBO (vs Popo Freitas)
its got the best fighters, holding the alphabet titles.
and they are willing to fight each other. 135 we will probably see the next undisputed champion.
isn't katsidis the WBO interm champion?
cuz Juan Diaz is the WBA and WBO.
im pretty sure that Katsidis and Juan Diaz will meet sometime in 2008. they 2 of the better fighters at 135 ... and there's no real other way for katsidis to go.
(besides Casamayor or David Diaz .. who could meet up as well)
there's so many great fights just waiting to happen around that weight. id give katsidis a chance against either guzman or pac moving up in weight. the best fight for the spectators would be juan diaz imo.. and im pretty sure they have a tentative agreement to make it happen soon.
Is pacman even seriously considering moving up to 135? (or all speculation?)
cuz after Barrera (assuming Manny wins)... there's still a possible Marquez rematch, or even taking on the Soto-Guzman winner.
do you see Manny skipping the above and going to 135?
*didn't Juan Diaz show interest in a fight with Pacman as well. Juan does have to take care of business vs Julio in October for the time being.
