24 on HBO almost got it back to like it used to be. I think something like that on basic cable like espn could spark interest. i think that it is something they should go run with, especailly with this reality TV faze we going thru over here in America.
My point is that Pacquiao isnt anywhere near Oscars PPV buys.
Your insecurity amazes me my delusional little friend. The lower weights have carried boxing at this moment. DLH fights always reels fans in.
The internet has been around for 10+ years. What makes this year different from 3 years ago? But I would have to agree. If it weren't for the internet I wouldnt know all the details I know now going into the fights.... which makes it 10 times better watching it.
Well if you consider That I have been a Boxing Fan since 1980.. Then During the 80's Boxing was on every weekend on FREE TV and even during the week sometimes.. The news papers covered ..The news covered it..
By the mid to late 90's Big fights were exclusively PPV affairs.. Which is what Killed the sport... less people could watch it.. especially young people.. So new fans were not being genrerated and Old fans were being turned off becasue they were sick of shelling out 30 bucks for a 1st round KO mismatch...
The main stream stopped paying attention.. Mike Tyson being the "unoffical"
spokesperson for the sport didnt help matters..
In the last 10 or so years there has been a constant upswing in boxings popularity.. right around the time the Internet started to become a common thing in average households.. As the The internet connections became more common.. So did Boxing's popularity rise..
I cant think of any other factor that has played more of a role in not only increasing boxing's popularity.. But also SAVING it from total obscurity...
Where else can you get a PPV fight free of charge less than 24 hours after it was fought???
Where else can you watch some fight that matters .. but is being fought in Germany and not shown on American or British TV??? where else can I get a copy of RJJ vs Prince Adumu on demand???... The internet
None of ANY of the Things people have mentioned matter.. IF we are not here discussing it..
More people are able to follow the sport becasue of the INTERNET..
When promoters make a press release Every Boxing site on the NET posts it..
Sports news dont cover it.. Most newspapers dont cover it..
The only REAL PRESS Boxing gets in on THE INTERNET...
Boxing has NO marketing stragey as a whole.. nor is it considered a top Sport
It's not taught in colleges.. people do NOT get Boxing scholarships..
Without the NET boxing would more Obscure than you can imagine.. And I doubt there would too many new fans ... This site alone is PROOF of what I am talking about..

Chups thinks Pacquiao draws alot of boxing fans and is 2nd or 3rd behind Oscar.... I cant stop cracking up at that shit, exposed himself of not knowing shit.
.
What De La Hoya pay-per-view has been worth the price of admission since his fight with Vargas?
pacquiao, thats what you wanted to hear right
LoL. I just wanted to know what you think. Thats all. I personally think its the UFC. Boxing had to become more competative.
BTW Pacquiao wasnt on the list. But he definately contributed.
UFC. People realized if boxing is going to last they need to make fights more exciting. I hate the UFC because people all the sudden act like watching a fight on TV is a new thing. Maybe I'm not primitive enough or something. I dont like seeing guys get knocked out, then jumped on top of while someone keeps throwing punches at their lifeless body. UFC has put us back a few years.
