Mexicans Refuse To Spar Against Bautista, PeÑalosa

http://philboxing.com/news/story-11753.html Reports coming out of the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles indicate that renowned trainer Freddie Roach has been forced to import Russian sparmates for Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista and Gerry Peñalosa as they prepare for their respective August 11 assignments in the two world title bouts at the 'World Cup' of boxing in Sacramento. Bautista and the rest of the ALA Boy jogged yesterday on flat terrain at the La Brea area, while Peñalosa and Filipino Diosdado Gabi did their morning workout at a park near the apartment of superstar Manny Pacquiao. Bautista will challenge WBO superbantam king Daniel Ponce De Leon, while Penalosa goes up against WBO bantam ruler Jhonny Gonzalez in what will most likely be his last fight. The ALA Boys then took their egg and fruit breakfast prepared for them by trainers Edito Villamor and Jeremiah Quijano. At the Wild Card Gym, Peñalosa sparred against Bautista for four rounds, before Bautista did another four rounds against a talented Russian fighter. Peñalosa also did another four rounds against lightweight Ricky Quiles, while Gabi sparred with RP champ Michael Domingo. "These boys used to spar with Mexicans, but apparently the Latinos are no longer interested. So Freddie has been left with no option but to bring in these Russians," said a source from Wild Card Gym. The same source said Bautista and Peñalosa have been eating their usual diets, as they both weigh just about perfect. Bautista is now down to 128.5 lbs yesterday morning, while Peñalosa was at 126 lbs. "I don't really see any weight problems among the boys," said another source, Team Pacquiao physical therapist Jeff De Guzman. "Maganda ang moisture ng pangangatawan at masaya ang tropa na parang nasa pilipinas lang sila," De Guzman added. "The boys are also in high spirit because their manager Michael Aldeguer and Sam Gello-ani are always in touch with them," another source said.

The Wild Card Boxing Gym is nice but Roach needs to get a bigger building. Its packed overthere. I had a quick chat with this pregnant lady, found out its Diosdadi Gabi's wife, 4 months pregnant. Good luck to Gabi and his wife. Saw Freddie Roach, his disease even affected his walking. Never notice it on tv. Ikeke is tall. His sparring partner is around my height. The sparring partner was doing good against Ikeke. geez whats hapennin with freddie? was it really parkinsons?

Their hating because Pacman ate up their boys Barrera and Morales. They dont want to aid the Phillippines to beat their country. I like the Idea of the world cup, but it seems to be bringing hatred between Filipino's and Mexican's. wll hatry and rivalery sells as long as there are some filipinos and mexican welling to pay to see someone get beat up why not . My cousin goes to wild card and I have heard no such thing. HOW MANY COUSin do you have?

I was off today from work, so i went to Wild Card Gym in Vine(between Fountain and Santa Monica). Gorres was doing jumping ropes, Boom Boom abdominal work outs, Gabi and another Pinoy fighter were doing some training by the speed bags. Penalosa was in the ring sparring. Was he sparring a Russian boxer? No. He was sparring with a Hispanic fighter. Don't know if his Mexican though. So that Mexicans refusing to spar with Pinoys might not be true. Like i said, when it comes to a Pinoy reporter, they tend to overexaggerate. Also, Ikeke was there and a Eastern European boxer, a bald guy, forgot his name.

Is it a hatred towards Filipinos? I don't think so cuz if it is, why then did they start to spar from the beginning. The reason probably is because they might be the diffirence for the Filipinos in winning the fights. As Mexicans, they want their Mexican counterparts to win the Boxing Cup. If they spar with the Pinoys, they are helping the Pinoy team to beat the Mexican team. Of course, they don't want that. Also, if the reporter of this article is Filipino, its just a bulls$$t story.
