Where Bradley veered off his game plan after getting hit hard in the 2nd fight, as did other opponents, Floyd stayed focused and took it in the championship rounds. Gotta respect that.

No bad for a one dimensional brawler. How many times have you actually seen Floyd be countered and hit cleanly? Maidana made Floyd uncomfortable but didn't land very cleanly (aside from the epic right in the 2nd fight). Mosely landed a couple of huge rights and then landed nothing else. I think that the fight revealed more wrinkles to Manny's game. But it also showed how focused Floyd is and how solid his chin is. No one can outbox him at 147 and no one can seriously hurt him with one punch at 147 so I don't he has much of a challenge at 147. 154 lbers have a chance of doing serious damage with one punch but he'll still be tough to crack there.

I for one think it does. His "historic run" above lightweight is pretty overrated and the media fed into it without informing casual fans of the details. DLH, Cotto, Margarito, Bradley, Algieri, Rios, and JMM were all fighting him outside of their best weight class. Also Mosely hadn't looked impressive in years before he and Manny met Also when he faced Bradley in fight one, he was unranked at ww, as was Rios, JMM, Algieri, DLH, nor was Margarito who he fought for the vacant wbc title at 150. Cotto, Mosley, Bradley, and Clottey were the only ranked fighters he beat above 140 since 2008 at the time they fought....that's 7 years....that's not impressive with other fighters fight top ten comp consistently and get bashed I consider him to be one of the top ten greatest fighters of the past 30 years...along with Mayweather, Ricardo Lopez, Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins, Evander Holyfield, Julio Cesar Chavez, Pernell Whitaker, Mike McCallum, James Toney It would be hard pressed to rank Manny over Mayweather, Ricardo Lopez, Hopkins, Holyfield, Roy Jones, or Pernell Whitaker on an all-time great list....the other guys resume and skills were comparable to Manny's.....he never was the top ten all-time great that the media wanted him to be...the guy who was gonna rid the world of Mayweather, or any of that.....just another guy who was one of the best of his era, but was one of the most beloved fighters of all time...nothing is wrong with that. Ask your question when another guy manages to hold the title multiple times on his 7th weight division. Pac is in uncharted territory. He shouldn't even be fighting at WW, let alone holding belts at WW. To further enlighten you, some of current p4p champs best wins are also against unranked or cw opponents: Hatton - unranked at WW Marquez - cw and Floyd still missed weight by 4 lbs Canelo - another cw Even funnier, Floyd blasted Manny for cw fights but then he ended up fighting Canelo at a cw. Manny made cotto go down to 145, 2 lbs from WW and 1 less than his last fight. Manny met Margarito at 150. Margarito had previously fought at WW and outweighs Manny by 17 lbs at fight night, a huge weight disadvantage. The 154 title was total BS but the challenge was real. In contrast, Floyd made marquez come up 7 lbs and still missed weight by 4 lbs. Let's not even mention gloves...

Offensive inclined, for sure so defense is just mainly for setting up offense but the technical advances he's made on Manny from his one-armed days cannot be understated. He was correct about Sr. being useless in the corner too. Sr. Just about panicked during the fight and Floyd pretty much had to calm his own trainer/father down.

Freddie Roach said Khan used to get the better of Manny in sparring. Manny cracks him once? how can Pac crack him once when he can't reach him, Pac can't handle a long mover, listen man, Khan might get hurt a tad bit but Pac won't be able to land cleanly enough to drop him or hurt him badly. if manny can land some hard ones on floyd and even counter his jab with straight lefts, you don't think he'll land one on khan, who lunges forward a lot? if joel diaz caught khan a few times and had him in trouble, you don't think that pacquiao can do the same?

You can't see half the punches on video clearly either unless you have video of every side of the ring. Do you? Edited videos and gifs don't tell the full story. Mayweather won that fight clearly it's not even debateable, only if you count blocked punches which casuals seem to do can it be close. I agree edited gifs and videos don't tell the full story but they can show you what commentators miss in live action. Particularly,when both fighters have fast hands. It's a high speed chess match. One guy looks to be dominating because he gets the other to chase him around (which is unavoidable since the other guy is substantially smaller) but you don't notice that the other is actually landing some good shots too.

Pac produced the BS. He didn't want to fight. He had Floyd on the ropes and backed off. Mayweather was in his face in the center of the ring....Manny did nothing. Manny still landed the harder shots while Floyd got credit for arm punches and punches Manny blocked. Floyd was great defensively but did nothing significant offensively except for the 11th. both were disappointing but Floyd was less disappointing so he won. Hardly a "boxing lesson", no one got punished nor dominated.

What moments do you think he had in round 3? Be very specific. Canelo would have always beat Manny. Manny is a sucker for a right hand and Canelo has one of the best right hands in boxing. Don't let the Mayweather performance fool you. Floyd has a way of neutralizing your strengths and Manny just tries to overwhelm guys. He wouldn't be able to overwhelm Canelo. Not really, Manny hasn't been trying to overwhelm guys for a while now. He's had to box more, counter and set traps. The last time he tried to overwhelm, he got ko'd by JMM. He can't simply overwhelm fighters at 147 and he surely won't at 154. Canelo will win because, at 154, Manny has nothing to hurt him with and keep him honest. Canelo will walk through Manny's punches. It's not about styles, it's all about size. Same with Floyd going to 160 for GGG.

Hopkins is right, the shoulder is a lame excuse. Paulie's alway's been a salty Pac hater and will use every opportunity to bash Pac and Pac gave him a legit reason to bash him on this one.

Can't see giving manny 5 rounds either. 4 tops. Two further comments... It's nice Floyd wants to patch things up with his father and all but he is clearly more of a mascot than anything. At one point he chided Floyd for not throwing a hook yet, and he had just thrown several. This network bias thing I keep hearing about doesn't make sense. Manny is hbo's guy. Lampley and Roy had every reason to laud PAC with praise every chance they got to sway public opinion. Problem is, Manny was giving them very little to laud. Additionally, Bernstein is an old boxing sage and not too terribly biased despite being a Showtime guy. I had it 8-4 live. With replay 7-5, Floyd. Floyd won the championship rounds so I have to give it to him. He finished strong and actually dominated the 11th the most. Watching the replay, I had the 3rd for manny so I changed my score from 8-4 to 7-5. I think that the punch at the end of the 3rd (my sig) was one of his best in the fight but Floyd has a phenomenal chin and conditioning. Here's another heavy left from manny, meant KO, in the 7th that was hard to see live but landed hard. The view doesn't show where it landed but it did, as you don't see manny's hand overshooting and floyd staggers forward for a split second. He took heavy punches but he took them well and didn't get rattled. I don't see any WW beating him, maybe even at 154. I think he win a wider UD if they do a rematch. What impressed me about manny was that he was able to counter Floyd. Bashers call him a one dimensional brawler but even floyd called him a very intelligent fighter. Overall, they sayings "a great bigger fighter beats a great smaller fighter" and "good defense beats good offense" hold true in this case. I kinda agree about Lampley and Roy, they seem to be biased towards Floyd. But, in hindsight, Manny's lands were hard to spot when watching live. Floyd dictated the pace, so it's easier to give the rounds to him. Most of the guys in my place were complaining that Manny wasn't doing anything which seemed correct because everyone is used to a tazmanian devil manny. Floyd imposed his style and manny felt that he can beat floyd at his own game, which was obviously a bad idea.

PAC lost...... I agree with that. Floyd took it in the 11th and 12th. That being said, the fight was closer than the network scorers had it and Manny had his licks in. Sr's reaction wasn't just acting.

No. It's just poor sportsmanship, nothing else to call it. I had no issue with Pac thinking that he won but it's disingenious for him to congratulate Floyd and then have his team claim the injury. They should have just kept quiet since they didn't disclose it pre-fight.

Brook is a tune up for Manny. Even Floyd more hard shots from Manny than his fans would admit. Brook takes more chances, he will be caught and cleanly outboxed.

the problem for manny is that he floyd dictated the pace for most of the fight and that's easier for judges to see. in terms of harder punches landed, manny landed much more. floyd landed more frequently with his jabs and couple that with his ring generalship, it's easier to call the fight for floyd. the replay shows the harder punches landing from manny, though they might not be easy to spot at fight speed. if you're watching the replay, pay attention to round 3. all judges and network scorers gave it to floyd but see the three hard right that manny landed on floyd's chin, including one just before the bell that the commentators called as a hard floyd left that landed (floyd's left didn't land and manny caught him a with a hard right that made him hold briefly - see my sig). manny's punches are hard to spot live.

Nothing else will do anything for his legacy so any future fights will just be for $. Judging by how much he spends, he will probably have to keep fighting for a while.

They pretty much killed the golden goose on this fight. Neither Pacquiao nor Floyd will have strong PPV sales. Pac, for losing. Floyd for the lack of competition and a non-mainstream friendly style. Both will return to selling well below 1 mil, with Pac going in the 300k to 500k range, depending on the opponent. Floyd will probably be in the 600k to 800k.
