I think we should go through boxing history and change the result of every fight in which a boxer touched the canvas and it wasnt ruled a knockdown. :beerchug:
Don't care either way, but
Tank wasn't hurt
Did not take a knee due to that nearly missed punch
If Tank was buzzed in any way, there was plenty of time for LRJ to finish him off.
A 2 second time out would not be enough, if Tank was trying to buy time to recover.
I feel people dislike him enough where even a non incident like this, coupled with the huge odds in his favor (1800) can make fight fans fume.
I agree that Tank is disliked and undefeated so people are making a big issue out of this.
I personally think the ref as well as most of us watching were confused in that moment.
But
1) I'm glad 99% of knock downs include punches :lol1:
2) Pretty cheesy way of scoring a KD. As a fighter, I wouldn't want to get credit for knocking my opp down without landing a punch :dunno:
3) Cotto was a mess. Many solid punches did land just prior to. Huge diff.
4) Imagine losing a rd/fight because your glove touched the canvass.......
"Technically" everyone who is upset is "right"....but, cmon. It would have ranked as an ATG cheesy KD.
Laughing emoji = childish.
You wouldnt want to get credit for a knockdown without landing a punch? I dont buy that and id say thats a pretty cheesey argument.
His glove didnt just 'touch the canvas'. He chose to touch the canvas in order to stop his opponent from punching him.
Everyone is right because 'technically' it was a knockdown.
Would have been the lamest 10-8 rd
But I guess lame is good
Sarcasm + emoji = childish x 2.
The bold is questionable
You choosing to ignore the first part of that post and focus on the second part makes your objectivity questionable.
I tune out when the "insults" start
It's very childish, wouldn't you say ?
We disagree
The end
Youve been childish throughout this.
ya cant just take a nee any ****ting time u want to and then run to yer corner for some help and then say ok im ready sorry just taking a timeout LMAO u tanksters are off yer ****ing heads!!!!LOL
Exactly!
He should be punished.
Just like every fighter who has touched down. Right??
If its just Tank you want punished i have to ask why?
How would he of lost?
Does anyone really believe that if the ref gave him a count, that EVERYTHING else that happened after that would have remained unchanged??
Too difficult to predict what will happen in this fight.
Cant wait.
Neither like clinching. And they both want to win every round.
Anything could happen
eubanks was weightdrained at 11 days notice. He had no business being a stand in for a title fight - the only thing that justfies him being there was that the belt was no legit at the time, so he just turned up for the paycheck.
Eubanks confirmed the shot didnt hurt him, it just surprised him.
A legacy of being power puncher built on one fight where he for a few seconds decked a weightdrained late notice stand-in is not an a convincing argument.
What is convincing is being in a situ where his paid for ref coukdnt stop the fight prematurely for fear of ridicule/overturnig of decision - thats all the good opposition he fought who who were never really hurt by joe even when joe outboxed them
joe just wasnt a hard hitter. Its in his style as well as his musculature/lack of punching finesse
His legs were surprised to. :boxing:
But yea, ur right. One punch doesnt mean much.
But feather fisted? Nah.
malignaggi knocked down lovemore ndou. a guy that was never stopped and fought everyone including canelo and cotto. so i guess malignaggi is a bigger puncher than those guys cause they couldnt drop him
it wasnt brittle hands that made him develop that slappy frenzy style. it was not being a good boxer. if he tried to be a stand up boxer he would be nothing special. throwing fast illegal furries with the inside of the gloves gave him an edge since fighters don't train for that type of attack. look at him try to box against hopkins. it was pathetic. he just kept running into punches over and over, reset, run into punches, reset, etc...eventually he got desperate and just threw a lot of punches that flailed and missed and fooled the judges. great job. even against an insanely shot jones he was being picked apart before he went slap happy. his old opponents just couldn't keep up with that level of desperation.
Paulie landed a wel timed shot that ndou walked into after taking shots for 9 rounds.
Very different from one clean hook in the 1st round that stiffened Eubanks legs.
Clearly not feather fisted is all im saying.
I dont believe he fooled all the judges and refs his whole career. Thats quite silly.
We aren't creatures of pure logic, like robots. Religion acknowledges our spiritual dimension and tries to tend to it.
It does my heart good to see a major boxing figure like Lomachenko not be afraid to express his religious convictions. Maybe the kids coming up who look up to him won't be afraid to stand for the goodness of their particular religions, even if they aren't of the Orthodox faith like he is.
Havent boxers been doing that for a very long time?
Lewis was being outboxed by Bruno until he landed a big left and finished him.
Lewis was a better boxer overall than Joshua, but its not so clear what would happen.
Im still impressed by thinking about how Loma started as a pro.
Its just very impressive on any scale.
Any fighter that is good and exciting gets hyped and with Loma i think its justified because his style can be eye candy.
But i dont know how far he can go given how he fights. He likes to get close and slip shots. I see him getting rocked at the least by a big shot soon.
My take on his loss is that it was legit. He didnt know how to deal with the low blows. And he got going too late. I think he said the same.
Plus his loss means little to me. Im just enjoying his career.
Both at fault.
But.... if only Floyd didnt suggest Manny was a cheat and needed testing, i think Manny would have just fought him.
And Manny is an idiot for wanting "cut off dates". Absolute madness.
Who is playing Teddy Atlas?
I wonder if they will include the time Teddy threatened to kill Tyson because he had "done something bad" to one of Teddy's young female relatives?
Or will it be a heart warming tale of friendship to make Tyson likable.
Mr boat buyer is retired. Will his name ever stop poppin up on here every goddamn day?
I think we need someone to hate who is really good.
If Pac was an arrogant loudmouth we wouldnt discuss who would beat Floyd so much.
Floyd left without getting beat and it pisses me off!!
mayweathe is like an advanced sweat pea
I dont think they are very similar at all.
Floyd fights very differently to Pea. Moves different, throws punches different, their range is different.
I think Floyd stands a very good chance at beating Whitaker.
Whitaker took too many chances. I think Floyds fast accurate single shots would be able to catch Whitaker fairly often.
Whereas Whitaker would have absolute hell trying to catch Floyd at range.
Floyd on the backfoot is just so damn slippery.
Maybe Whitaker could outwork him, but i can see Floyd winning.
And all this fantasy match ups you can never really say who the winner will be. Come fight night a certain fighter may adapt to the others style and win.
This is all opinion.
I think almost every thread ever made on this site is about people posting their opinions.
We can say who the winner would be, we just wouldnt ever know for a fact.
he could beat robinson, Robinson is vulnerable to a slick fighter with defense. Robinson had crazy power in both hands, but if u dont get hit with it...what good is it? Don't get me wrong though, SRR is the greatest!
I think Robinsons offence was greater than Floyds defence.
If Oscar could land his jab, Robinson would do damage.
If Castillo gave him trouble, Robinson would bring him hell.
Robinson would outwork, outpunch and outbox Floyd.
Robinson isnt God, but he was too much for almost every human at 147. Floyd is a baby at that weight.
Let's say the commission can't find if tony cheated or not...will his victory be tainted against cotto?
it already is.
Just the fact he was tryng to cheat taints him as a fighter, and all his victoies.
Shane Mosley is a good fighter but people need to put his victory over Margarito into context.
A win over Margarito doesn't mean a rematch win over cotto or a win over Mayweather, shane fought a fighter who was made for him in terms of style.
Who knows what Margarito had left after the war with cotto, ones things for sure, I havent seen shane struggle against sluggish, wide punching fighters who pride themselves on taking punishment so It wasnt a miracle he completley outclassed Margarito.
Mosley still makes the same mistakes that a prime cotto or mayweather would expose. He still relies on reflexes which wont get him out of trouble against highly skilled fighters, he still walks in hands low head right up, he still leaves himself wide open at times when throwing combinations. He got away with this without getting hurt on sat night, but if you watch the fight closley Margarito did catch him occasionally with silly jabs and hooks because mosley came in head up hands low or was busy throwing punches and forgot about what would come back in return.
A guy like Cotto will set up the jab on Mosley breaking up the opportunities Mosley has to fire combinations. Mayweather would use the right hand continuously on shane who wouldnt have the reflexes to avoid that shot for 12 rounds, because shane would try to lean away from it, rather than block it with gloves.
Shane fought a good fight using lateral movement to keep himself off the ropes, but Margarito is always there to be hit, that win is a case of Margarito being vastly overrated and possibly taking a few too many punches before he got in the ring.
Shane still makes those mistakes, once he fights the right guy, I think those mistakes will be exposed again. People should put his in over Margarito into context before getting carried away.
Thats not really putting things in perspective, thats pointing out obvious facts about Mosleys flaws without giving him credit for a great performance. He showed a true fighting spirit, and at his age destroying Marg was sensational. I didnt think it was possible.
I thought he may win but not like that. Maybe it was flattering victory, but whether or not he could beat PBF or Cotto he deserves all the kudos for this win.
When u have that much money and have worked as hard as he has to get it, more hard work. months of training and dieeting etc only to get hit by big bastards isnt very tempting.
He has lost desire to fight. And he doesnt have to anymore.
