Less than a half of first month has passed but 2020 already lived up to notoriousness of leap-year: Iran's general termination by USA, Australia's fire tornados, North China Bubonic plague, Iran's attack on a civil plane with 170+ deaths... but for Ukraine 9th of January was a disaster of another sort: without any known death casualty in it but with a tragedy for many in Ukraine and not just boxing fans.
On January 9th Lomachenko posted on his Instagram a video on religious thematic which glorifies army troop attacks on "non-Orthodox spirited enemy". To make it even more hard-swallowed for Ukrainian citizens those soldiers are of Russia Army Troops with russia flags and those who helped annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 (with at least one ukrainian soldier killed and many battle ships captured with teams on it).
On this video you could see russian church's popes many of who are actual FSB agents (former KGB), russian solders who light up candles and then go shooting their enemies for glory of russian orthodox spirit. At the end of the video there is a text with thanks to "Polite People" - the term made up for russian army troops in Crimea.
After a huge backlash on instagram from Lomachenko's own people (allegedly) who criticized glorifying war in the name of religion (so-called Orthodox of the brain), glorifying russian army troops on a 6th year of war and questions whether his account was hacked it took aforementioned boxer 2 days to respond and response made it even worse.
In a poem form Lomachenko tried to justify his actions as a part of "Words are the point, not pictures" and basically called Judas with prepared nails for him everyone who criticized him for that video. Also he mentioned war of "brothers" but it is unknown whether it was about Russia-Ukraine war (where russians call ukrainians their younger brothers) or whether he considered himself a "good brother" of those "bad brothers" who posted negative comments in his Instagram.
Whatever happens next Loma clearly is no more a brother to most of ukrainians who saw his last videos and he received a lot of hatred from his compatriots.
Also, it is informative to know that not long before Beterbiev fight Alexandr Gvozdyk spoke similar speach about "brother's war" which received a negative reaction from ukrainians who were happy to see him failing and loosing via KO to russian chechen Beterbiev.
The very next day after Loma's coming out Claressa Shields broke Loma's record of becoming a 3-division champion in least amount of fights.
