If you give Lebron a year to train then maybe I could see it being close. But if you're talking right now, put the two in the ring and see who wins, it would be Pavlik and it's not even a question. Lebron is not used to getting punched in the face, Pavlik hits very hard and I don't see the fight lasting very long.
Shane vs. Floyd is the obvious choice, clearly it's the biggest fight of them all. I'm also interested in Pavlik/Martinez and Adamek/Arreola. There are a lot of good fights on there, should be a great year for boxing.
I think the PPV will do about 800k buys. I don't think the live gate number will be huge but with the $50 tickets they should have a good crowd on hand.
Amen to that. Both are excellent fighters, I don't see why some fans of Pac/Mayweather feel like they have to tear down the other guy. Some of the anger probably has to do with the fact that the superfight fell through and there is a lot of finger pointing going around. I hope they step in the ring together in late 2010, it would be awesome.
The fight will get signed eventually. The annoying thing is that we have no idea about what is causing the delay. Does Mayweather have an issue with the contract or is he just going over the fine print? I agree people freak out too quickly but after what happened with Pac/Mayweather the nervousness is understandable.
If you're an adult the best self defense is common sense.
Other options include being unusually large/athletic or carrying around a firearm 24/7 (which I don't personally recommend).
Also I do box which is great training and I enjoy the sport aspect but I don't go around thinking I'm going to smash random punks on the street.
neither needs each other. Both have a whole shitload of money and can make 8 figure paydays fighting anyone.
Agreed, they both can do whatever they want. There really is no reason that the fight HAS to be made. All the people calling Pac a bum have to remember that no matter what he will be loved in the Phillipeans so it's not like he has anything to prove to the fans. Floyd never really wanted widespread fan apprechiate and can continue to make a boatload of money fighting anyone.
Thanks for posting, I remember my friends and I watched this and it convinced us to drive to Vegas the next day and see the fight live. Not a competitive fight but it was a good time.
I wouldn't be that shocked if he lost a decision to Paulie in NYC. I would be mildly surprised but I could see it happening.
On the other hand I would be extremely shocked if Paulie could stop Khan.
Haye saying he wants to fight Vitali instead of Wlad makes no sense. First off, Haye was the one who called out Wlad on the escalator over a year ago. Also, Vitali is probably the tougher fight for Haye. If Hay really wanted to beat both Klitschkos and unify the belts he would have to fight both eventually, why not fight Wlad now that he is available and wants the fight? I'm not going to call him a "fraud" because he is a good boxer but it's obvious he wants to delay actually fighting the Klitschkos for as long as possible. When he called them out before it was just for the publicity, he's probably looking to make as much money as possible before he fights them because he knows he will lose bad and his image will be ruined.
Also this whole thing calls into question if he was really injured for his first fight with Wlad. If he really dropped out of that fight due to injury, why wouldn't he jump at the chance to make the same fight happen now? Just doesn't make any sense and he is looking really really bad.
Well he will probably get beat anyways, at least when he loses to Couture it will be to a former champion and not some random wrestler who just got out of college. Tony is just looking for some cash, I don't think he is even seriously training for this.
People will always make lists, but it is very hard to compare boxers across different eras. How do you compare Floyd to a guy like Pep who fought in the 40s and 50s and had 230 wins? I'm not saying Pep is easily greater than Floyd, I'm just saying it's a difficult comparison. What do you judge on? Anyways I do think if Floyd beats Pac, Martinez and P.Will he's easily #1 in his era.
It's probably better for us (the fans) that they don't sell official DVDs. If they start selling official DVDs they might crack down on the video trading blocks. Like someone else said, you can buy pretty much every UFC on DVD but the flip side is it's hard to download them since the company that owns the UFC spends a lot of time finding and shutting down download sites.
I think Haye will eventually fight one of the Klitschkos, probably in 2011. I think Haye wants to get as much out of his HW run as possible and he will only fight a Klitschko when he has no other options. But when the time comes that he absolutely has to fight a Klitschko I think he will.
Pac vs May I don't see ever happening. Honestly I hope I'm wrong but now that both sides have an entrenched position I don't see either camp caving in or even compromising enough to make the fight.
OST 90/10 split and it's a deal.
Kermit Cintron is willing to fight one of those guys. I don't think he can jump out of the cage.
Well apparently Cintron was a star wrestler in high school, so he probably would pick up the grappling faster than most boxers.
Also this MMA guy is a punk, if you call out someone in their own sport that takes some balls, but asking the guy to come over to your sport is just weak.
I'm always willing to give an athlete the benefit of the doubt unless there is a positive test or overwhelming evidence that they are using PEDs. Of course it is possible but I never had Pacquiao pegged as a PED user before the Mayweathers started saying it.
The only thing that makes me question Pac a little is his reaction to the testing. He should have accepted the 14 day window in my opinion but he's a proud man and probably didn't want to bend to Mayweather's demands.
I'm with Flyod on this one, "urine therapy" doesn't do anything for you and is disgusting on top of that. If fighters want to do it that's fine but it's not going to help in the ring.
I went to the Mayweather/Baldomir fight and bought tickets from a scalper right before the main event started which worked out well. Unfortunately that fight wasn't a sell out and obviously wasn't as high profile so tickets were much easier to get. If you're going to be in Vegas anyways you may as well stop by the MGM Grand and see if you can work a deal with a scalper though, it's worth a shot.
When you drive down the road and see a really bad car crash on the other side, try not to look. It's very hard, almost impossible not to take a quick look. Unfortunately Edwin Valero's life became that car crash, and we're all rubbernecking.
Considering most people don't kill themselves with witnesses around, almost any suicide could possibly be a murder. Even if they leave a suicide note, conspiracy theorists will say it's a forgery or something. Personally I think Valero just knew his life was over anyways so he took the coward's way out instead of standing accountable for his actions.
