It's funny Marquez thinks this was his only legit loss and people are still arguing that it wasn't because of the 2 lbs. I personally think Mayweather pulled a fast one coming in 2 lbs over but seriously, Marquez wasn't/isn't beating him at any weight.
Trinidad was definitely a bigger win but the way schooled Pavlik was my favorite. Naazim kept calling Pavlik a TV fighter. Then the way he went up to Pavlik at the end of the fight and continued the boxing lesson this time with actual words.
George Foreman KOing Michael Moorer. He was getting outclassed, looking his age, and out of nowhere, Moorer is on the floor.
The other would be Roy Jones saying Pacquiao is "not gettin' up Jim" and me realizing, "Oh sh*t, he's not getting up."
This might not be a popular one but Margarito beating down Cotto was impressive to me. Cotto was undefeated, probably in his prime, and Margarito made him take a knee out of fear. I know people will be quick to mention the wraps but I'm sure it wasn't the first time Margarito had the plaster. Cotto was the first to take knee.
Most people don't like the fact that he's better than their favorite fighter. The rest are just weirdly obsessed with hating him. It's actually kinda creepy.
If Mayweather worked on his strength on conditioning like he said he would he might have a little more pop and be able to keep Maidana from laying on him. If Maidana gets hurt early it might discourage him enough to throw him off his game like he was against Alexander. Maidana is going to apply the same tactics he did the first fight. I can't see him doing much better but it's up to Mayweather to make the fight more difficult for him.
It would be impressive but Kovalev is still relatively untested and Hopkins already prove he can handle that type of a fighter. The flip side of that would be if Kovalev stops Hopkins it would be a much bigger boost for him.
Did anyone really think he was gonna say anything other than "it was staged"?
That's the easiest way to dismiss whatever concerns the commission had.
This is just another entry in the Mayweather Derangement Syndrome. Now the sufferers of the syndrome can say Mayweather is a fake because he stages scenes for All Access.
This is possibly the worst match up of any boxer on Pacquiao's level. The fact that this will be a PPV event is an insult to all boxing fans. This is Salkaesque bad.
The comparison is not even close. At the end of the first fight, Roy didn't have an answer for Tarver. He pretty much laid on the ropes and waited for the bell to ring. Mayweather was able to figure Maidana out and out boxed him. Unless Mayweather has a major lapse in concentration I don't see it happening. Jones got caught cold. I don't see Mayweather getting caught cold.
The crazy thing is I think Mayweather does care what Stephen A. Smith and everyone else says. Half the time he'll go out of his way to do the opposite of what people are saying he should do and on some occasion he will listen. That's the reason we won't see him against Khan. He knows no one want to see that fight. On the other hand, I'm afraid we might not see him against Pacquaio because everyone keeps saying he has to... As long as he can make money fighting other people (which he can), he will not necessarily cave into the pressure of fighting Pacquiao.
He looked like an absolute beast against DeMarco. However, when I went back and looked at some of his earlier fights he looked pretty ordinary. It's hard to tell but it looked like he was on his way to being a star.
Most of the boxers mentioned already had speech problems before they even retired. Margarito will be fine except for maybe for the eye. He'll be ok as long as keeps that eye away from fists. lol.
Lacy/Calzaghe was a good one but I went with Mayweather/Gatti because on top of the beat down Mayweather tried to humiliate Gatti in front of his fans. I think that was last time Mayweather truly tried to punish someone. He had no respect for Gatti that night.
It's funny how people will gladly point out when Pacquiao has more success with other common opponents but can't do the same with Juan Manuel Marquez. Talk about a double standard... What am I saying, DOUBLE standard is the ONLY standard in the Mayweather/Pacquiao saga.
I don't get why everyone is saying Crawford's size was the difference in the fight. It was competitive until Crawford adjusted. It's not like he adjusted his size. Gamboa is a solid fighter, but he fought reckless, and he couldn't afford to be reckless against someone at Crawford's level.
Everyone should have known this was a mismatch but we see many uneven fights week after week. I still don't understand why this one is getting such heat. It's not like Al Haymon and the Garcias slapped boxing gloves on Salka, put a gun to his head, and ordered him in the ring to fight. All it took to solidify the mismatch for me was seeing that Salka had three KOs. THREE!!! News flash! Algieri has 8 KOs. Yet some people are pretending that he has a legitimate shot to beat one of the best fighters on the planet.
