What's the best boxing performance you've seen in the past 5 years? Here's a few for me:
Rigondeaux embarrassing Donaire ( number 1 for me)
Ward undressing Froch
Mayweather toying with Marquez (I understand about the weight but Marquez landed 69 punches in 12 rounds yikes)
This might not be a popular one but Margarito beating down Cotto was impressive to me. Cotto was undefeated, probably in his prime, and Margarito made him take a knee out of fear. I know people will be quick to mention the wraps but I'm sure it wasn't the first time Margarito had the plaster. Cotto was the first to take knee.
That fight was in 2008.
Just stop. Weight has nothing to do with that schooling. You've obviously never boxed
If Wlad gets Kovalev to come up to heavyweight and scores a shut out it will be a great victory then.
i'd love to be able to go back further and pick some spots where bernard hopkins undressed some champions
i think pavlik was '08
tarver was'06
trinidad was '01! i am getting old! :lol1:
in the last five years, the top has to be rigondeaux - donaire. donaire was at the height of his powers, and coming off of a fighter of the year nod. nonito donaire is a hall of famer. rigondeaux freaking made hiim look like an amateur.
Good post.
Madaina man handling Floyd most thought it would be 12 to 0 UD we all know Chino won 7 rounds but of course the Judges were corrupt so they had to let Floyd win
:haha:
Weight had a great deal to do with it. Mayweather's action shows he knows weight is of great importance. That's why he drags fighters up from lower divisions and drained Canelo.
Beating a 36-year-old Marquez that you dragged up 11 pounds isn't the achievement Floyd fans think it is.

My vote goes to Rigo schooling NOnito, with Froch undressing Bute second.

JMM was the only fighter he dragged up in weight in recent times. His other opponents had proved themselves at the weight class and where the top 3 opponents in the division at the time Floyd fought them.
Name one fighter in history who could fight them and NOT beat or destroy them. But change their entire fighting style and dominate them without being touched. Because I dont think their are any and will ever be any. EVER.

Marquez probably isn't even one of Floyd's top 5 wins. It's the way he won that makes the victory impressive imo.
Dominating an elite opponent is always impressive. Weight wasn't why Mayweather outclassed Marquez. People thought Manny would decapitate Marquez in their 3rd fight @ WW. Marquez arguably beat Pacquiao twice @ WW. Marquez has proven that he can hold his own @ WW. Neither Canelo nor Lara are Marquez.

Bringing up someone so many weight devisions, it really doesn't make too much of a difference on the final outcome.
Like i said, Marquez will always be at a disadvantage, we saw it against Bradley, Pacquiao 4 he was too slow. Ironically the smallest one closest to his size, being Pacquiao, is the one he beat convinceingly.
Marquez knocked Pacquiao out and it's not like Bradley dominated JMM. The fight was competitive.
Making a move from 135 to 146 (Mayweather's weigh-in weight) is the equivalent of a 154 fighter moving up to 166.5 lbs (both are an 8.14% increase on the original weight). If Andre Ward got Canelo or Lara to fight him at 166.54 lbs for their first fight at that weight and shut them out, would it be a great performance?

Are you really suggesting that Matthew Hatton is of the same caliber of Marquez? :lol1: btw, Marquez has done just fine @ WW since the Mayweather fight.
