Firstly I want to say I do not wish any harm on anyone who gets in the ring and contributes to the sport I love beyond words.
The man took alot of punishment in his career, he had the finest chin I have ver seen in my life time. No matter what was thrown at him he would walk through it and keep coming - a real warrior.
But you have to wonder will that eventually take effect on him later in his life?
You listen to fighters now slurring words; more recently James Toney, Ricky Hatton and Shane Mosley. Of course we have Tommy Hearns, Larry Holmes and Riddick Bowe etc
But lets take James Toney for example; a defensive fighter for most of his career - he didn't take much punishment throughout his career.
You can only assume Tony will run into such problems, I am amazed he hasn't started to already.
the eye probably saved him from brain damage. if his eye wasnt beat up he probably would be still fighting today.
he took a few beatings , near the end... but thats it. it could have been way worse i think..
Yea, that eye will never be the same again.. That **** was disgusting to look at that night, probably the worst black eye I've seen. Gotta give him props for soldiering on after that, one tough mother****er.
Most of the boxers mentioned already had speech problems before they even retired. Margarito will be fine except for maybe for the eye. He'll be ok as long as keeps that eye away from fists. lol.
Mexicans are tough no doubt about it but what about Mexican 23 year old Óscar González who died after suffering rain injuries from Jesús Galicia just a few months ago?
Jesus was Mexican as well tho
Naw hes Mexican them dudes have proved over and over time and time again, they can take damage better then any other people in the sport.
in his recent interview he wasnt even in the slightest showing any signs.
Nope..he retired and his only issue is his eye.....something in the water in Mexico man..those guys are tough as nails
