I think that participation rates are certainly higher among US and Canadian youth, but it is way down on the totem poll in terms of popularity as a spectator sport. Still I would hazard a guess that there are more soccer fans in America than boxing fans.
Garcia got chin tested and passed. He got hit with a big shot right on the button, and got back up, recovered quickly and won the fight by KO. Amir Khan has serious punch resistance problems. It's no comparison.
Wilder's right hand is the great equalizer. They are miles apart in terms of skill, but could Usyk stay on his feet and outbox Wilder for 36 minutes? Maybe, but all it would take was for Wilder to catch him with one...
This is an intriguing match up. The winner's profile will be raised and will likely have a chance at getting bigger fights. Edge to Brazeale. Close fight I think.
Here is my 2021 wish list in order. Hopefully politics can get out of the way, and some of these fights can get made!
Joshua vs Fury
Spence Jr vs Crawford
Lopez vs Davis
Taylor Vs. Ramirez
Beterbiev vs Bivol
Whatever the kid's Manager says he needs to step up the level of competition. He has all the tools it seems, but he needs rounds, and he needs to be tested a bit. It's time to step up the match making!
Luke Campbell is no bum. He is an Olympic Gold Medalist, and a legit type 5 contender at lightweight. He's a well rounded fighter who is big for the division. Campbell is far and away better competition than guys like Haney, and Shakur have faced.
If Garcia wins this fight in an impressive fashion then he'll have won me over. This is no light touch!
In 1972 WBC, and WBA Lightweight Champ Bob Foster defended his titles against then undefeated contender Mike Quarry. Bob hit Quarry with a vicious and beautifully timed left hook that sparked him out cold. A real scary knock out to be sure, but man oh man Bob Foster had some serious power.

I wanna see him fight Andy Ruiz, Michael Hunter or Oscar Rivas, but he'll probably face Arreaola, Helenius or Kownacki or even worse competition sadly.
I just want them to make the fight as soon as possible. No more waiting! If the WBO wants to get in the way of making this an undisputed fight then AJ should toss the belt in the channel, and fight for the other three.
He beat two long reigning Heavyweight champs. AJ has the best resume of all of the boxing heavyweights though. Yet I still think Fury would be AJ two out of three times.
I think Spence wins on points, but something in the back of my mind thinks that maybe his accident will impact him. Interested to see if this is the same Errol that fought Mikey and Porter. Looking forward to this one!
I would need to see Haney face some better competition before trying to predict the outcome of a Lopez vs. Haney fight. Lopez is beating legit world champions, and Haney is fighting part time unranked journeymen fighters. From the "eye test", Haney looks like he has all the tools, but I want to see how he reacts to losing a round or two. How does he react to getting buzzed?
A 38 year old Gamboa will be a step up for the kid, but he needs to win that fight, and look good doing it...
Prediction. Canelo gets dropped early, and the ref gives him a slow count, and gives him a full minute to recover. It's a decently close fight despite the huge size difference, but Canelo wins decidedly because Adelaide Byrd and Dr. Lou Moret score it 120-108 despite the knockdown. The only judge that is not incompetent or corrupt scores the fight 115-115.
Usyk himself says that Fury would be his toughest opposition at heavyweight and I tend to agree with him. I think AJ has the best chance to beat Fury at this point.
I think Usyk gives AJ lots of trouble though...
How does a Prime Wlad do against AJ,Wilder and Fury?
A prime Wlad has no trouble with Wilder and AJ. A 50/50 fight with Fury. He manages make all three fights boring somehow.
I’ll eat some crow and admit that’s more than I would have guessed. Gun to my head I would have guessed only about 70k.
Same here. I figured between 75k-100k
now I don't mean to blame Floyd directly here, but is there an argument that Pre-Floyd, fighters were willing to take riskier fights because their wasn't this weird obsession with being undefeated. I think Floyd made that a selling point in his career, and it seems like alot of boxers today cherish the "O" and that hinders the big fights.
Back in the 90s, you were expected to lose, fighters didn't give a ***** about being "undefeated", if anything it made you look more suspicious as you were probably taking easier fights.
again, I'm not blaming Floyd directly, but more indirectly
Floyd doesn't deserve all of the blame, but this obsession with being undefeated, and the whole low risk high reward BS, has really damaged the sport. The best rarely fight each other anymore, and it's a real shame.
1. Fury
2. Joshua
3. Wilder
4. Povetkin
5. Ruiz
6. Whyte
7. Parker
8. Ortiz
9. Hunter
10. Pulev
Usyk has done nothing yet. When Usyk beats Chisora and Pulev loses to Joshua, Usyk takes his place.
Was going to post, but this guy has the EXACT same top 10 as me! :boxing:
