He won't run and do nothing for 7 rds. It'll be a better fight than what Loma put up
You conveniently left out the part where Loma got rolling and won rounds 8 9 10 and 11 unless you honestly believe Lopez won any of those 4 rounds.
He has a chance to win but in my opinion it is a very small chance. My eyes tell me Lopez is a much better fighter. Lopez has a great KO win over a real champion Commey and then beat the pound for pound best fighter in the world. Who has Haney beat worth a damn and why is he fighting a washed up 38 year old Gamboa who lost his last fight by KO. Good champions don't do that.
Lopez only ever beat Commey before comprehensively beating a top 3 lb 4 lb fighter.

I don't underestimate Teo at all and he'd be a slight favorite in the fight but it would be a better fight than the one we saw Saturdat
It's the better fight but who knows what happens. The WBC could order Haney to fight the Garcia-Campbell winner or Fortuna. IBF could order the Kambosos-Selby winner as well.

Haney can also very well lose that fight. I underrated Teo's IQ, grit.
I have Teo winning, Dont think Haney has the power to win. Plus Teo is more athletic than people think. I just wonder how far Teo can go with his father as lead trainer. I think a guy like Freddie Roach or Robert Garcia could do wonders for him. The Reynosos would be great too, but they have Ryan Garcia so that wouldnt work.
I would need to see Haney face some better competition before trying to predict the outcome of a Lopez vs. Haney fight. Lopez is beating legit world champions, and Haney is fighting part time unranked journeymen fighters. From the "eye test", Haney looks like he has all the tools, but I want to see how he reacts to losing a round or two. How does he react to getting buzzed?
A 38 year old Gamboa will be a step up for the kid, but he needs to win that fight, and look good doing it...
I got Haney beating Lopez if it happens. Although I saw Teo as a bit crude and he impressed me with his ring smarts against Loma. Should be a good fight but I still think Haney is something special, he just hasn't had chance to fully prove it yet.
If you know Bob, you should know by now that he doesn’t walk all his talks. But for sure, Lopez-Garcia makes more sense than Lopez-Haney business wise. But both are risks Idk if Arum is willing to gamble
I like Ryan Garcia but idk if I think he's that big of a gamble.
I can see both fighters faces messed up by the end. Slow start with those rangy jabs to the body, and lots of lunging from distance. I think Teo would have it because I don't think Haney would be so willing to close the gap against him. Haney is such a prime athlete and also wants to be a superstar so you would expect him to throw everything he has into it. Would need a trilogy.
“What happens if I approach the winner of that (Ryan) Garcia-(Luke) Campbell fight and offer them a fight with Teofimo?” Arum asked in a tone that suggested that’s precisely what he’s plotting to do.— Lance Pugmire (@pugboxing) October 19, 2020

Nah
Haney gets sloppy and off balance a lot and his power is similar to Lomas Teo whoops him.
You know what? I've seen this and ignored it because I have high expectations of him. He looks solid on the pads with big Floyd but in the ring he's sloppy for an elite.

Negative, He has similar power to Loma yet Loma was able to push Teo backwards for the later rounds. We can both agree it will competitive. Haney is as fast as Teo if not faster and will not be as easy to find as Loma was. Although I will concede there is no X factor in Haney as in power but he has a world class jab. That’s a 50/50 or whoever you lean towards a 60/40 fight

Past is past but what the WBC did has been detrimental to his career. It's weird seeing people say he needs to fight the big fights when he never swerved them.
Look, you can cry all you want about it but there’s nothing we can do about that one. This is boxing and politics always follow with it. We seen shittier things done in here. This is not the 1st or 2nd time.
I’ll be honest with you, there is no point for Lopez to fight Haney, business-wise. He’s already being recognized as the undisputed champ right now. The only thing makes the most sense for him right now is north to 140. The only one motivation to stay at 135 is to take Tank or Garcia’s starpower and increase Lopez’s market. But knowing Bob, I don’t even think he’ll take that kind of risk. He has all the chips right now to make a young superstar through in house fights. He has 140 right now. And he has Crawford at 147.
Everything seems to be falling in places to his favor.
That’s boxing politics. But past is past. Haney vs Garcia. Winner fights Lopez. That would be a bigger stage fight.

So, anyway... I give Haney a good chance to beat Lopez | BoxingScene Community
