In all of boxing who is on your top 5 punchers list? I mean in terms of being able to KO their respective competition. Obviously a HW hits harder than a MW but if the MW is more likely to KO his opposition I'd rank him higher. If I had to rank them my list would go something like this: 1. Anthony Joshua 2. Gennady Golovkin 3. Sergey Kovalev 4. Luis Ortiz 5. Adonis Stevenson Honorable mentions: Errol Spence, Artur Beterbiev, Deontay Wilder

Holly Holm just slept the supposed baddest woman on the planet when she destroyed Rhonda Rousey last night. It just goes to show that Cecilia Braekhus is truly a special one of a kind talent and not a hype train like Rousey was. Braekhus has dominated women's boxing for years and years and is the reason Holm decides to get out of boxing and start an MMA career in the first place. Cecilia Braekhus is the baddest women on the planet!

I know Golden Boy Promotions lost most of the guys that Haymon took over to Premier Boxing Champions. Does that mean most of the guys signed with Al Haymon are promotional free agents? I see guys like Errol Spence in Mayweather's entourage but when I look at the Mayweather Promotions website I don't see him listed as their fighter. Can somebody fill me in?

I know this fight is everything that is wrong with the sport of boxing. Yet I know it will probably do more numbers than Golovkin-Lemiuex at the end of the day. Who is actually forking out dough for this?

the idea of a mayweather-thurman fight was floated in an article recently. i know a lot of people aren't too high on keith after having a dominant, but somewhat disappointing non KO performance against the obscure bundu. it still doesn't change the fact that thurman is very well schooled and possibly the biggest puncher in the division. this is a fight i always felt mayweather would avoid. thurman is a serious threat even if he is a bit green. i've felt for a while thurman could possibly score an upset win against mayweather. if this ppv was made i would immediately make plans to watch this fight. it would be absolute must see tv for me. so if this fight actually were to happen, would you get this ppv?

Showtime has by far had their worst year in boxing for as far back as I can remember. They've always been the B side to HBO (with the exception of 2013), but this year the gap has grown even more. Not only have we been fed tune up fights all year long by every name fighter, but there are no significant fights signed for the rest of the calendar year. The Hernandez-Kameda fight which is the only fight Sho has lined up would just be an off-air undercard bout on an HBO card. You would think Sho would have plenty of money left for cards considering they really haven't had any marquee match ups with their star fighters all year. Porter-Brook was their best match up and the only fight that wasn't considered a tune up all year. Floyd fought 2 fights with Maidana, neither of which were wanted by several fans that wanted to see him face Porter or Thurman. Canelo stepped up against Lara but that was on PPV, along with his rebound fight with Angulo. Canelo & Porter fought the toughest opposition out of all of Sho's name fighters & now Canelo has gone to HBO. The gap between HBO & Showtime has never seemed bigger. HBO is closing the year strongly with Hopkins-Kovalev, Crawford-Beltran & Bradley-Chavez while Showtime is looking to be out of money on the heels of their worst year of content. How did this happen?

Adrien Broner showed in the Chino fight a tendency to want to go to war when presented with a come forward fight like Roberto Garcia. Garcia is always the one coming forward in all of his fights, including against Antonio Margarito. We know both would be trying to put the other on the backfoot and it could make for a very explosive fight. Garcia is no Taylor. He has a solid chin, strong will and size. Broner would have the hand speed advantage but would he be able to keep Garcia off without tasting canvas? Outside of either of these guys fighting Victor Ortiz, I find this to be the logical next step for both of these guys.

Here it is at last. Canelo stepping up to the plate and fighting a live fighter in lara. The general school of thought by several is that action fighters will draw bigger buyrates then actual top notch opposition. I believe Canelo fighting a real huge threat will actually create much more PPV buys than the Angulo fight. Many thought Angulo was on the way out after quiting with his horrible eye injury suffered in the Lara fight. So what will it say if a guy like Lara who isn't a draw & isn't an all actin fighter say? It will make a statement that when a big name fighter truly challenges himself, the fans take notice! Sure there will be some casuals that won't make a huge distinction between Anglo & Lara. There will also be a huge number of fans buying this PPV because it is a toss up fight that could end up playing out several different ways. This is one fight I really can't call. Gun to my head I'll go with Canelo but I won't be suprised if Lara pulls it out with his skill set. This is absolutely must see for me and I will be coming out of pocket for the first time this year for this PPV. What do you think over or under compared to the Angulo PPV? I say it outperforms it comfortably.

maybe its the fact that he followed amir khan's blitzing of luis collazo but to me floyd looked quite slow in his come from behind victory against chino. chino was landing shots from all angles early and he even made floyd look a bit wild at times (have never seen floyd look this way). i imagined if floyd fought khan he would have started the fight in the hole but would make the adjustment but now after seeing him start that way against chino i actually think khan has a legit chance of winning against floyd. floyd looked shook in a way i've never seen in between the early rounds of the fight. chino isn't even anywhere near the fastest guy at 147. thurman, porter and khan all looked to possess fast hands in their last outings. floyd was throwing his patented counters early but chino saw them coming and was picking them off. i was a bit shocked by that. anyone observe anything else as far as slippage? maybe maidana was the right opponent to expose some flaws in the 37 years old version of mayweather

Maidana's 81% KO ratio is being touted as many casuals are getting excited thinking Floyd might taste the canvas against this guy. Sure Maidana has KO'd fringe contenders like Josesito Lopez and made Victor Ortiz quit, but he hasn't stopped the top level fighters since coming to America. He landed that "big shot" against Adrien Broner early, a LW that leapfrogged 140 to snatch away a title from light punching safe target Malignaggi. Sure Broner tasted the canvas, but got up and finished the fight on his feet and even came on strong at the end. Though Robert Garcia's training has added a few extra tools to Chino's limited skillset, he is clearly getting the best out of a flawed product. Devon Alexander has shown Chino is not an adaptable fighter with multiple game plans that can overcome tough puzzles. He will simply seek and destroy. With Mayweather he will simply be seeking all night long, as confused as a lost child in a grocery store. He doesn't have that "one punch" KO power several seem to believe he has. His stoppages against Karass & Lopez came from accumulation. He will not accumulate enough damage on Floyd to take him out. He landed flush on Broner and Broner went down. If he lands the hail mary against Floyd, Money will use his significant strength advantage in the clinch to pin chino's arms from throwing any more until he fully recovers. Then he will beat the living hell out of Maidana for the remainder of the fight. The moral of this story is Maidana has literally a 0% chance of victory in this fight. Boxing is the theatre of the unknown, but we all know this is the truth.

Its looking more and more like Floyd Mayweather will upset the delicate balance at Golden Boy Promotions by choosing Marcos Maidana for his next fight. We have already seen Amir Khan's volatile reaction to this news as he strongly feels Mayweather wasted his time and feels snubbed. Adrien Broner's contractually obligated rematch would also be violated by this. Both these guys (who are young Golden Boy talent) would be getting snubbed just so Mayweather can yet again have his way. So how do you make it up to these guys? Maybe you set up a fight for both on the undercard and pay them both well. Not only does that help calm their agitation but it would also add a solid fight to a PPV that is less than spectacular. Part of the reason Canelo-Mayweather was so successful was because everyone knew Mattyhsse-Garcia was on the undercard. I think adding Khan-Broner to this card would add a lot of buys from some of the fans. What do you guys think?

I'm raking my brain trying to remember the last time Floyd fought a real 1 punch KO type of guy. Maidana is extremely limited but he has that 1 punch crack. Even though I feel Matthysse is the bigger puncher of the 2 and better all around, Floyd hasn't fought a guy that can punch like this in ages. I'm not saying Maidana is beating Floyd, I feel Mayweather will be able to expose Chino's limitations. Still can't remember the last time Floyd fought a real puncher like this though.

HBO's line up to close the year isn't all that bad but up until this point Showtime had been putting on some great boxing match ups. Bradley-Marquez is no doubt at the Apex of the sport, atleast from the Top Rank side of things. GBP has a stranglehold on the hot JWW, WW, & JMW divisions with plently of depth in those divisions. Alvarado, Rios, & Provodnikov are all decent fighters that seem to just be a cut below elite. Bradley, JMM, & Pacman are no doubt the big time talent. GGG was a great acquisition by HBO as well. Those stars will only take you so far when going against Floyd Mayweather & budding PPV stars Broner & Canelo (and possibly Danny Garcia). Chavez Jr's latest pathetic display of unprofessionalism really is a big hit to Top Rank's shrinking PPV potential. At this particular time it seems like the future of the sport lies with GBP. Showtime/GBP just set the PPV revenue record with "The One". How long before we see Showtime begin to pull even on ratings or possibly pull ahead? If present trends continue it's possible that HBO will lose their aura of being the premium boxing channel unless they start working with GBP again.

I hear in the forums all the time that GGG doesn't have any solid wins. The arguement is made that he is only beating guys coming up in weight or 2nd tier guys. I think the only reason this is partly true is because the guy has trouble getting people to man up & take the God of War challenge. I would like to know who the fighters are out there that people consider legitimate wins for GGG?

Now I know some will chuckle at this notion but can you imagine anyone else leading Danny to victory last night. His psychology in the corner slapping Danny worked. He literally went out and busted Lucas' eye right after that & the momentum of the fight changed drastically. He's so mentally tough & its Angel that pushed this kid to that point. He said himself he trains Danny like a champ & not like an opponent. Danny has to be in the conversation for fighter of the year & was in the running last year. As far as the in ring results they got something special going on right now.

We know he hurt it in the Guerrero fight. His publicist has been on record as saying he was just dealing with soreness. That night that hand was badly swollen but I've dealt with my hand looking the exact same way and was punching within a month or so. Ofcourse I was only 18 at the time and the recovery powers when young are quite remarkable. Still if Floyd's publicist says the hand was ok then it either is or he didn't want to miss his next Showtime PPV date. But given Floyd's history of hand problems and the quick turnaround one has to wonder what happens if Floyd injures the hand again in this fight. Hand injuries, especially chronic ones, have a tendency to linger. Mayweather Sr says Floyd can beat Canelo with one hand but it is such an interesting comment cuz he could actually be faced with the prospect of having to do so! He completely dominated Guerrero with one hand late but as many have said, "Canelo ain't no Guerrero"! Floyd is smart so you have to imagine he is prepared for this possibility or to prevent further injury. Canelo's ring IQ is fairly high as well and he could very well be able to pick on if Floyd's hand gets hurt. If Floyd does hurt one of his hands in the early or midrounds, do you think that could be the difference in victory or loss against Canelo?

The welterweight division has 4 pretty good champions at the moment. I can't remember a time where there were 4 champs this good. WBC: Floyd Mayweather WBO: Tim Bradley IBF: Devon Alexander WBA: Adrien Broner Keith Thurman is no joke and is coming up for a title shot fast. Floyd probably won't defend the title until next May. Bradley will have his title on the line soonest in October against one of the great JMM. Broner seems poised to defend Nov 9th hard punching Marcos Maidana. Devon Alexander doesn't have anything concrete but may have a tussle with Amir Khan in December. Who gets beat first?

With the super fight fast approaching I can't shake the feeling that a fix could be in the works. Its no secret GBP has been building up Canelo as the next PPV star for quite some time. Floyd & Oscar's animosity toward one another has flared up again on All Access. GBP's dream is to have a marketable young mexican star like Canelo knock Floyd off the throne and snatch that 0. I have the feeling that if the fight is even remotely close (8-4 Mayweather) Floyd is getting robbed this time. Thoughts?

Mayweather Sr just came out and said Adrien's only been fighting stiffs. Several people, myself included, believe Broner has been carefully guided to 3 world titles in 3 weight classes by taking the path of least resistance. Picking on the undersized, overachieving WW Malignaggi for his WW splash didn't prove he is among the best. It only raised several more doubts by how much he struggled. Golden Boy is looking to chalk up another small WW who is a bit limited & overrated, but atleast packs a real punch. Some will say this fight will legitimize Broner. Still even a victory here will be against a guy who was floored several times by Ortiz, badly hurt by Josesito Lopez, & almost stopped in the first round by Amir Khan. Broner will need a better conquest to really earn his stripes. Who does Broner have to fight to earn respect? I for one say Lucas Matthysse, Kieth Thurman, & even Robert Guerrero after the little confrontation they had.

In order to qualify the ko'd fighter has to have been put to sleep the entire 10 count. Off the top of my head I can think of 2 in recent memory, Paul Williams in the Martinez rematch and Manny Pacquiao in the latest Marquez fight.
