Who does Broner have to fight to legitimize himself?

But what you are doing isn't right. You are basing Broner on what you want. Instea, he should be based on what he did. If another LW went up to 147 it would be an accomplishment. It shoul be considered same for Broner. There are always more deserving people when a champion goes up to another weight and gets a fight. But that doesn't take away from this IMO. I agree with you moving to welter is a step in the right direction. Even if it was a title grab against the perceived weak link WBA champion. The perception against Broner that is hurting his credibility is the fact that he has hung on to the lightweight title. Some feel he hopped up to WW for the Malignaggi lay up only to scramble back down to LW after accomplishing the 3 division champ accolade. The good thing is he will get rid of this perception with the Maidana fight thats on tap.

i agree with al for the most part. The quote I like best is Al saying we will find out for sure how good Broner is if he fights Matthysse. Thats a fight that will undoubtedly answer the question.

David Haye I would respect that for sure but then people would say Haye is just an English fighter anyone can beat an english fighter

Lucas Matthysse, Kieth Thurman, & even Robert Guerrero any of these would be a good start but one win won't legitimize him in my eyes I would like to see him fight Garcia or even Kahn any 2 wins out of those 5 would do it for me maybe even Judah

if ANYONE else has the wins & accomplishments of AB they'd be considered legit. But AB is held to a different standard. Whenever he pasts their tests (Ponce, Demarco, Paulie) they move the goalposts and name a new fighter he needs to beat to be legit. He actually has three losses: Fernando Quintero Daniel Ponce De Leon Paulie Malignaggi It would have been better to lose rather than rob those fights but we know how the boxing buisness works. ;)

And Paulie LOOOOOOL no one in their right mind gave Paulie a chance, some expected a KO instead we got Paulie taking the fight to AB and exposing him as slow and powerless at 147. How were any of these fight tests??? A test is Pacquiao being fed to Ledwabo, a test is Hopkins being pitted in as a patsy for Tito, a test is Fury stepping up to fight the best heavyweight not named Klitschko, a test is Froch dismantling AA and destroying Bute, a test is ....oh God you get the idea, if you still believe what you said after this then there is NO hope :bukkake:

True, but the ponce win is highly debatable, and the pauli win was a clear win but broner didnt look good in it at all... The demarco fight was a great performance for broner,,, he needs another 1 or 2 of those performances and i think people will get off his back, except for the haters..

I think broner straddles the fence of being elite and being a good fighter,,, I think he is legit right now,, only question is,,, is he p4p elite like jmm and floyd or his he just a good fighter with ups and downs like alexander, dawson, zab etc...... I could name 5 other fighters that I would have rather seen Broner in with..When you can do that and his last fight was against a trash opponent there is a problem IMO..I can also name 5 more deserving opponents for Paulie..That's also a problem.. Mayweather Sr just came out and said Adrien's only been fighting stiffs. Several people, myself included, believe Broner has been carefully guided to 3 world titles in 3 weight classes by taking the path of least resistance. Picking on the undersized, overachieving WW Malignaggi for his WW splash didn't prove he is among the best. It only raised several more doubts by how much he struggled. Golden Boy is looking to chalk up another small WW who is a bit limited & overrated, but atleast packs a real punch. Some will say this fight will legitimize Broner. Still even a victory here will be against a guy who was floored several times by Ortiz, badly hurt by Josesito Lopez, & almost stopped in the first round by Amir Khan. Broner will need a better conquest to really earn his stripes. Who does Broner have to fight to earn respect? I for one say Lucas Matthysse, Kieth Thurman, & even Robert Guerrero after the little confrontation they had. Legitimize himself to who? The Boxing critics or the Fans? Most people recognize him as a very talented fighter but there's also a boat load of people that want to see him fail (probably due to his "flashy" personality). So the people that hate him will always say he's not legitimate When he beats Maidana then people will say Maidana is overrated and already lost before. That's the boxing game. rios wouldn't get criticized before the fight for taking the fight. Broner didn't impress against Paulie and if posters are on him for that I understand. But to criticize the move or the win just because of who Broner is isn't right. What are you hinting at? Also, either Broner is 23 and unpolished...or he's 23 and accomplished a lot. Its one or the other...not which is convenient for discussion. Not at hinting at anything. I'm stating quite clearly that posters judge what Broner has done by who they believe he is. Thats never a good thing. Very few fighters would be criticized for going from 135 to 147 and winning the fight.
